After nearly three years of drawn-out divorce proceedings, Allen Iverson and soon-to-be-ex-wife Tawanna Iverson have finally reached a divorce settlement. According to Hip Hop Enquirer, while sitting in a Fulton County courthouse, both Allen and Tawanna informed judge Bensonetta Tipton Lane that they have reached an agreement as to how they will go about splitting Allen’s $18 million dollars as a part of their marital assets. The judge’s name may sound familiar because she is the same judge who presided over Usher Raymond and Tameka Foster’s custody battle.
It seems that the biggest issue that presented itself in the Iverson’s divorce was how to fairly divide the large amount of trust money that Allen acquired as a result of his lifetime deal with Reebok that he signed back in 2001. Thankfully, somehow, someway both Allen and Tawanna were able to reach an agreement in which they were both satisfied.
Following the trial, Allen’s attorney, Melanie Fenwick-Thompson expressed her client’s contentment with the outcome of the case:
“Our client is extremely pleased with the outcome of the case even though we came in near the end of it, we had an uphill battle. Mr. Iverson showed up ready to actively participate in his case and fight for the things he wanted.”
