2013 has been absolutely wonderful to comedian Steve Harvey and we’re only eleven days in! Just Wednesday, he took home the People’s Choice Favorite New Talk Show Host award. Now, it has been announced that his NBC syndicated talk show will be returning for a second season.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show is currently sold in 98% of the country, including all stations owned by NBC. It probably goes without saying that NBCUniversal is extremely satisfied with the performance of Harvey’s talk show.
“The instant success of Steve Harvey with the daytime audience is being greeted with long-term commitments from our station partners,” expressed NBCUniversal’s Domestic TV Distribution president Barry Wallach.
The show is also said to have dramatically grown in popularity in households and women 25-54. It ranked number two among syndicated talk shows in 2012 and is even reported to have raised his Family Feud show ratings. Television executives say they aren’t surprised at all by the show’s success.
“This project was a long time in the making and it would not have been possible without the incredibly talented Steve Harvey. His humor, honesty and insight were an immediate hit with the daytime audience,” revealed David Goldberg, Chairman of Endemol’s North America.
The recent November sweep revealed that Steve Harvey was only one of four syndicated talks shows over the last decade to perform the way that it is has in it’s debut sweep. The other three shows include Ellen, Dr. Oz and Dr. Phil.
We anticipate that 2013 will be a huge year for Steve as he continues to host the extremely popular game show Family Feud and prepares for release the of the sequel to Think Like A Man.
