“They Did Something That Was Unethical To Our Franchise”: NeNe Leakes Speaks On Kenya And Walter’s “Relationship”

While doing her usual promo rounds (you remember that she was just on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon last Thursday, right?), Leakes, but this time with her man Gregg, sat down with Wendy Williams to talk about everything from their relationship, a possible spin-off, and more. But the most interesting tidbit of information Leakes dropped was that she does feel, despite what Kenya Moore says, that homegirl’s relationship with Walter Jackson was a fake, and that she finds it awful that they were possibly fronting for the cameras.

When asked what she thought of last night’s episode drama between Kenya and Walter, after Wendy Williams said Walter acted like a female during the “couple’s” conversation at the fishing hole, NeNe didn’t hold back her opinions on their “good acting.”

“…I would have to say that it was a good scene…a good acting scene. I almost believed them, but it was like, where’s the script!? I’ve been a housewife of Atlanta for five seasons, going into my sixth season, and everything we do on the show is legit. We’re not scripted, we’re real, what you see happen is what really happens on the show. So, to look at Kenya and Walter and to know that they did something that was unethical to our franchise, I think it’s awful.”

She didn’t really leave it as an allegedly they lied type of thing, but rather, she seemed very sure that they were out in these Anguilla streets living a lie on TV. But then again, NeNe was one of the first people on the show in general who was calling them out about a possible fake and phony relationship when Moore was being a bit frisky with everybody but “her man.”

They also asked her if she would be back for future seasons, as most assumed that with her Hollywood success, she would be trying to leave the whole reality TV thing alone:

“The platform of the Real Housewives of Atlanta has given me so much and opened up so many huge doors of opportunity for me. I can’t see myself just really leaving. I also see myself as the mom, and I’m the only original housewife that is left, so I don’t really feel like I want to leave…I also have to be there to protect and make sure people aren’t coming on with phony stories, honey!”

On top of that spicy conversation, Leakes also touched on the divorce rumors about Apollo Nida and Phaedra Parks (she finds them to be a real couple, and congratulated them on the new baby, especially since she’s a woman over 40 and it can be hard to get pregnant), doing a spin-off (she said she’s not sure if she wants to do it, and she’s been approached about doing one before and always said no), as well as the EBONY mag cover controversy (“Yes we did get a lot of negative feedback from people, but just as much negative, we got just as much positive!”). The couple even played an “I Do Part II” game where they tried to figure out how much they knew about each other as a couple (Gregg does the dishes, he’s a freak in the bedroom, and they’re split on who pulls out their check to pay for dinners), and NeNe talked about her business with John the pizza czar, who she was seeing last season, and Gregg hilariously commented that he got free pizza out of their fling.

Funny couple these two are, and is it just me, or with the more I see NeNe on different talk shows eloquently and maturely expressing herself on different topics and issues, I like her more? Either way, she’s winning big time. Check out the clip from the episode and let us know what you think of her comments.

I love Nene. And I’m very happy that her and Gregg are back together, BUT, I really wish they would stop dishing on their sex lives. Not interested in knowing what Grandpa Gregg, or the Deacon, as Sweet Brown called him, likes to do in the bedroom! Ugh

  • kierah

Some have said that Nene’s divorce was a sham, so she can’t exactly speak on relationship phoniness.

  • Kitsy

Still don’t like Nene and she has some nerve to talk about Kenya and Walter’s supposedly fake relationship being unethical when it has been rumored that her break-up with Greg was done only to shelter her assets from his financial trouble. They were never really broken up so she’s a liar as well.

i understand that part but i rather someone fake a divorce for financial reasons to get on tv and lie just to have a story line

        than*

So, you would take one lie over another?

  • hollyw

I used to not be too fond of NeNe, but she has obviously matured from the media exposure (which is rare), and is funny w/o biting on folks!

  • AnonyChick

I definitely feel like Nene is much more likeable this season. I’m back to liking her again!

  • Kaori

Yea, okay. Most people understand that a good portion of reality TV is scripted.

  • justsayin’

“reality tv” and “ethical” in the same sentence? yeah, exactly.
