In 2013, we’re focusing more on health and wellness and though it would be easy to just tell you what you should and could be doing to get in better shape, we’d love to hear from the people who’ve actually done it. They say anybody can lose weight, but the real challenge is keeping it off and we want to highlight and celebrate those ladies who have done both.
Despite studies that suggest all black women put their hair before their health, we know black girls run, swim, lift weights, dance, and do plenty of things to keep their figures and their physical fitness in check. There’s no greater inspiration than seeing real women who’ve beaten the odds and taken control of their bodies and we want to inspire the Madame Noire audience with real stories from fellow readers who’ve dropped the pounds for a fitter, more fabulous frame.

- A Before and After Photo
- A 500-word essay explaining your weight loss journey, including your motivations for dropping the pounds and what changes you made to your diet and level of physical activity to get in better shape
