All The Way Turnt Up: 6 Secrets We Learned During The Love & Hip-Hop New York Premiere Screening

Last night, VH1 and Mona Scott-Young held a premiere screening of “Love & Hip-Hop New York” and we were there to catch all the ratchetness as it unfolded. I wish I could say some of the things we witnessed was just for the cameras but it wasn’t — most times they weren’t even rolling. That means what you see of these people when the third season premieres Monday night at 8pm is absolutely who they are in real-life — skin-tight dresses, drunken slurs, ragged weaves, stank attitudes and all. Though next week we’ll show you all our exclusive one-on-one chats with the cast members, we couldn’t wait to bust out the classic moments and insider info we peeped last night. Oh and here’s the super trailer in case you need a debriefing before you dig in. Happy ratchetry!

Joe Budden’s girlfriend may be the new Mimi

I don’t want to spoil anything for you before you get a chance to see episode 1 Monday, but let me just say Joe Budden is rather invested in rebuilding a friendship with his ex Tahiry — the only woman he’s ever considered marriage material — and he has no issue going after that right in front of his current girlfriend, Kaylin. I’m sorry, I can possibly handle my man being friends with an ex, but when you are bending over backward to get her to speak to you again and calling her your best friend while I’m around, no no my brother, that’s not gone work. But I’m not Kaylin Garcia. When I asked her what she thinks about Joe’s thirstiness for his ex’s friendship, she says she’s not phased and that she’ll allow anything to keep her man happy. Hmm where have we seen that before?

Yandy clearly ain’t shacking up no more

If you’ve seen the preview for this season, you’d know Yandy calls out her relationship with her boyfriend and baby fafer (in my New York accident), basically saying they’ve been together for six years, they now have a son, and at the end of the day they’re still just shacking up. Though the reality star couldn’t and wouldn’t confirm anything to us on camera, let’s just say something on her ring finger was shining bright like a diamond.

Erica Mena didn’t get enough attention as a child

From the see-through dress that let everyone know she was not wearing panties last night, to the way she slipped Rich Dollas some tongue after completing every sentence, to the tattoo she got that is the music letter R, everything Erica does is for attention. After saying somewhere between 18 and 39 times that she came from nothing, Erica proved she knew what she was doing when she started that fight with Kimbella last season — she was claiming her spot on round 3 of the show. Congrats girl? It’s also more than abundantly clear that no matter how much she and Rich try to sell us that they are dangerously in love, they’re both prime examples of people who we’d say need more hugs — and more people.

Mona Scott-Young will not hesitate to check her money makers

While the crowd may have been entertained by Erica’s antics last night, Mona Scott-Young was not. After she got into it with cast newbie, Lore’l, during the Q&A session and began using the mic to simulate her rival performing oral (yeah that really happened), Mona promptly got up, took the mic from Erica and said we’re going to stop this right now, and we’re gonna act like we know. Got it? Mona embarrassed that 25-year-old “woman” like she was a little child and didn’t skip a beat when she sat back down to start mentally counting her millions. What did Erica do? She shut right up.

Tahiry is clearly going to be the breakout star of the season

Spoiler alert! Within one episode, Tahiry flipped over a table and threw drinks on multiple people on more than one occasion. We can’t say the girl didn’t have reason to be upset and I definitely wouldn’t put her in the Evelyn Lozada-Chrissy Lampkin camp, but ol girl has a big heart and an even bigger temper. If you eff with her mood on any give day, you better be wearing a hair bonnet.

They may be using Basketball Wives LA’s stylists

This wasn’t confirmed but I’ll just let the photos speak for themselves.

Omg I’m hooked already! I forgot I just watching a video! Erica Mena is such a sad little puppy. She needs to go find her daddy and get some counseling. That kiss wit Rich Dollaz was gross. And I really don’t know too much a bout Joe Budden, but I definatly haven’t ever looked at his mouth bc he looks like he took part of the yellow brick road, put it in his mouth and called em teeth. I mean if you can’t afford professional whiting, baking soda and peroxide works wonders! Again IJS!

Mona is a strong Haitian woman, we don’t play that! LOL

  • LOL at the last one…. I actually like Tahiry, I used to watch her and Joe’s Youtube channel, she wasn’t no play thang back then… can’t wait to see her on the show, because it’s apparent that Joe is trying to play crazy!!

  • AFRO LOVE

I am so sick of Mona Scott-Young. She’s full of contradictions she’s the puppetmaster behind so many of these shows where women are cussing, fussing, fighting, butt cheeks hanging all out, acting a fool for men have severe intimacy problems their damn selves. She’s making millions M-I-L-L-I-O-NS off these people acting a fool and then has the audacity to try and pull rank on them out of some FAKE show of decency. This is reality TV honey. These women are not role models. These shows aren’t intended to be child friendly and self esteem building. By trying to project this image that she won’t stand for certain things that show black women in an unsavory light is a joke at best. She eats it up. She its all UP and then counts them stacks. Mona YOU NEED MORE PEOPLE.

If this is what ya’ll have learned from this show, then I’m not missing anything by not watching it.
