Oh Fanny…Fantasia Goes Off On Her Instagram About People Judging Her, But Condoning Gay Marriage And Marijuana

December 31, 2012  |

I know Fantasia is just another celebrity who can’t wait for a fresh start in 2013, because after her recent comments, she’s caught some heat. Via her Instagram, Fantasia decided to go on a rant about people unfairly judging her for what she does in her private life, but condoning and doing many things ourselves that the bible says is wrong. While I can understand her wanting to get some things off of her chest about people consistently coming at her head about her decisions, the talented singer and former American Idol winner probably went about it the wrong way. She had this to say, with a picture of herself in a “graceful” ballerina pose, which has now been taken down:

“I Rise ABOVE IT ALL!!! THE WORLD IS GONE MAD. KIDS, THE GOVERNMENT, THE church House… Everybody Trying!!!!!!! Its a lot that going on that the Bible speaks about we should Not be doing. Weed legal in some places, Gay Marriage Legal BUT YET IM JUDGED!! Im not doing Nothing for you… My Life!!!!”

Clearly these comments weren’t given the “AMEN!” she was looking for, because as I stated, she deleted the comment. But on top of that, word spread about her comments, giving the impression to some that maybe she’s against gays, so her manager, Brian Dickens, put out a statement to clear the air about her actual support of the LGBT community:

Comments made by Ms. Barrino through her Intragram account were recently taken far out of context, and the purpose of this release is to set the record straight. Ms. Barrino is not now, nor has she ever been an opponent of the LGBT community. She has supported and performed at numerous events that are sponsored by the LGBT community. Whether it’s through a live performance or placement on social media, Ms. Barrino uses every opportunity to reach out and connect with her fans, all of her fans.

And in an effort to clear her own name from those coming at her head about her comments, Fantasia saw fit to take to Instagram one mo’ gin to set the record straight about what she really meant:

“It has been brought to my attention that something I said was taken out of context,” she wrote. “I Fantasia Monique Barrino don’t judge anyone because I don’t want to be judged. The gay community is one of my largest supporters. I support the gay community as well as they support me. Bloggers please stop misrepresenting the facts.”

I don’t think Fantaisa really meant any harm in her comments, but in the future, seeing as how she just can’t win with those who just don’t approve of her, she should just stop talking about her private life to “give people the facts.” Seriously. It’s not helping whatsoever, and you would think she would have learned that it doesn’t help to try and explain why you do what you do with your life to strangers. Just ask Alicia Keys and Gabrielle Union. As someone who exposed a majority of her life on TV, there’s really no going back from what people saw and decided to take judgment with when it comes to Fantasia.  Just continue to make music, take care of your family and live your life, Fanny. And oh yeah, next time, just stick to posting pictures on Instagram, because these long rant-ish captions just get you in trouble it seems…

fantasa you have to be very careful about the people you surround yourself arround!when you have folks mudding up your name it’s hard to keep a great fan base!i am a frelance photograher who works hart to meet and bring out the best in my subjects!ihear that you willl be visting the city of baltimore soon! i would love the opportunity to be your personal photographer when you come to the city! my craft is to bring out the best in you!

  • People shouldn’t be judging. But you can’t turn a blind eye to your own short comings when you don’t make good decisions. Fanny…. can’t you do what regular people do? Just call a spade a spade….”I made a bad decision”, try to learn from it, and do the best with the hand you’re dealt. Owning my own failures always helped to take the sting out of other people’s judgement ….. Just saying.

  • Bible doesn’t say anything about weed

  • :)

She did all of this because she is HUMAN first and an entertainer second. Humans make mistakes. We are not perfect. Celebrities aren’t gods like many make them out to be. They aren’t perfect. I just think that she got tired of all of the judgement from other people and said enough is enough.

  • She should’ve just posted the picture and left it at that…

  • Sagittarius81

Gee Fanny, I have more respect for the LGBTQ community than hoes who sleep and have babies by married men and don’t know how to wear clothes that fits them. Don’t wanna be judged by people, stop doing ratchet stuff in the public eye and don’t judge others on how they choose to live their life. Have a nice day and Happy New Year!

    • ieshapatterson

For it or against it,everyone can say how they feel about gay marriage.that includes her.but you’re right about the first part.some of the crap she gets,is all because of her.

  • espressobean

This is why I feel that entertainers should be seen and not heard. They should just do their shtick and get somewhere and be quiet.

  • IllyPhilly

Hey, how dare she disrespect *coughs out the ooh wee* wait…what was I about to say?

  • NYC Gal

Fantasia needs to put more focus on her career bcos getting on Instagram and ranting about people judging her ain’t going to do nothing. She needs to face facts and deal with it bcos people will judge you especially if you’re in the public’s eye and its their money that’s keeping you there. Quit complaining and be grateful that you still have a career. Look at A. Keys, who is in the same situation like Fantasia, she sold almost 500K units last album but on this latest album only under 150k.

I’m not a super-religious person, but if Fanny wants to bring up about what the Bible speaks of then she should be careful about what she says. Did she forget about the things that she’s done that were Biblically wrong?

Having a child out of wedlock (twice), fornication, having an abortion, and adultery…

    • Daisy

Thank you! It really pisses me off when people always wanna bring up the bible and god, when it’s something they don’t like or agree with, like say gay marriage, but they steady engage in premarital sex, lying, etc. black people I love us, but we need to stop that. I’m not a religious person at all, but if your gonna present yourself as this bible hugging Christian, either be all about it, meaning no premartial sex, or dont judge anyone else.

      • psylocke_2001

Exactly. People pick and choose what they want to abide by when it comes to the Bible and then have the audacity to turn around and act “holier than thou” when the next person didn’t pick the same things they did.

  • My girl Fanny has sold the truth of God’s Word out for some money smh. The Bible is clear about the sin of homosexuality. God still loves the sinner tho, ask Him to deliver you from sexual sin & He will.

    • MLS2698

No shade……but that pic looks like some sin. Forgive me

      • Daisy

Boo, I thought the same exact thing!

        • MLS2698

I was hoping Jesus would take the wheel and make a U-turn…….yes…..turning back!

I constantly root for Fanny….love her in all of her messiness but how can you judge people for how they are living their lives then ask the question “why are people judging me?”…people are judging you for the same reasons you are judging others…because you feel like you have that right…even though you don’t. I am still rooting for you Fanny!

  • bluekissess

Umm who rants on Instagram? Isn’t that a website to filter your pictures? Anything that has a comment box will be used. Everybody has an opinion about something. I’ve been guilty.

    • Ms. Kameria

That is what I thought instagram was for……but who really has time to take and post pictures all day, every day?…..anyhooo….maybe I’ m just behind the times.

      • bluekissess

By the looks of it I don’t want to get near the times. It’s to much

  • laila

    Girl, get off social networking!

  • Miss D

There is no way to misinterpret her comment. She is actually judging while telling people not to judge her. Think before you speak and act and I promise your life will be a lot easier.

  • Trisha_B

There was nothing wrong w/ what she said. The bible say a lot of things are wrong, but don’t point your finger at me for sinning different from you. She didn’t talk down on gay marriage, she’s just saying just like adultery is in the bible as being wrong just like gay marriage is. But b/c it’s slowly becoming legal in this country, people are for it. I’m not agreeing w/ what Fantasia did, but people need to stop getting on her. People get real disrespectful on celebs pics on IG & feel like these celebs shouldn’t talk back.

    • bluekissess

Maybe she shouldn’t post anything. I honestly think celebrities hurt themselves which then hurts the pocket books. She made a choice and every choice has a consequence. It’s unfortunate that she hasn’t gotten the picture yet.

      • MLS2698

Umph, maybe she just wants people to listen to her music, but not worry about her personal life…….as if they are separate.

        • bluekissess

I honestly don’t have an answer for this grown woman with two kids. Just get it together Fanny

          • MLS2698

Lol! She ” can’t get right.”

      • Trisha_B

Why can’t she speak up for herself? I don’t follow her instagram, but judging from other celebs that i follow i’m sure there are a lot of comments under every picture talking negative about her & what she did. No one is saying what she did was right, she’s not saying what she did was right. I think she got the picture. She’s just saying don’t come at her throwing bible verses her way about what she did, when you can easily turn to the next page of the bible & read the sin you just committed. She could have said it in simpler terms, but there was nothing bad that was said. She just wants people to stop throwing it in her face. The people who found a problem w/ it just saw gay marriage & wanted to have riot & lack simple comprehension skills. She doesn’t need to stop posting anything, it’s her personal account. We come on her daily saying what’s on our mind, it’s our 1st amendment right, why can’t she? You can support an artist on their talent w/out agreeing w/ their personal choice. Everybody thought Chik-fil-a was doomed after his stance on gay marriage, but their sales skyrocketed.

        • MLS2698

True. I bought six Chik-fil-A samiches that day. Everyone has a right to their opinion, but Fanny is like a hit dog that hollers-on instagram.

  • bigdede

Fanny needs to just stop. You can’t have a baby by a married man then get on instagram complaining about people judging you. Sorry you just can’t. Especially about gay marriage when she helped destroy a marriage. So apparently she doesn’t respect marriage at all.

    • bluekissess

      She doesn’t respect herself either

    • psylocke_2001

or get an abortion and turn right around and get knocked up again. that’s what condoms, birth control pills, and/or abstinence is for.

      • jeffery

wow!so you knowevry thing doesn’t reallyall fall on her!as a a married man an a ex hustla… you still have to have some type of morals about your self…..i’ve never claimed to nbe an angel but i always knew that home was home!sex without pro tection is disrespect ful toself ant every one in volved!

  • Hoodrat says what?

  • SexNdaCity

I really wish these celebs would quit airing their drama on Twitter. But I will say I don’t think she meant any harm by her comments. She was simply wondering why is she so judged when there are others doing things that many others would also consider wrong. She’s probably tired of people bringing up that situation with that guy (forgot his name) There is a such thing as dragging things on too long. Not agreeing with her decisions, but just saying I don’t make other people’s drama my own.

    • When you are a celebrity/star you have to take the good along with the bad publicity. That’s the price you pay for adoration, fame, and money. When you live a messy life and happen to be a famous musician people are going to talk and they are going to judge. You have two choices; grow tougher skin, or get a new profession.

      • MLS2698

        Or get a better life.

    • bluekissess

Her concerns could have easily been put in a song. I think she should focus on singing instead of defending.
