Early Christmas Present: Brandy Shows Love To Rihanna By Singing A Snippet Of “Diamonds” For Fun (And Kills It)

Serious question though: How many people have been somewhere doing something and randomly thought it was a good time to blurt out, “Shine bright like a dia-mond”  just because?

Yeah, you’re not the first person to do so. I even saw a guy in the train station playing the bongos and singing the song for money (he wasn’t good though…), and it seems that celebrities who are supposed to be Rih’s competition seem to love to sing the song from time to time as well. Before a recent show, the singer was videotaped, or videotaped herself, singing a snippet of the chorus. Without much effort, Brandy managed to do an awesome job. Her voice has really matured and finally hit its peak. I’m not about to be mean and say that it sounds better than Rihanna’s original version of the track, because that song was made for her and works for her voice, but I can’t help but wonder what the track would have sounded like had it been B-Rocka’s to work with first. It probably wouldn’t have been as popular (hey, I’m just saying), but I’m sure it would have been just as fab. Check out the clip, as it’s only a mere 22 seconds, but it’s definitely one you’ll replay over and over m’dears. And the smile she showed off at the end is too cute by the way. Enjoy!

    In my opinion, there’s no comparison. Both sang the songs differently. And their voices don’t sound the same. Rihanna’s rendition is a Pop song. Brandy’s was R&B. Both sing it well, just in different ways!

    To the author of this article, Victoria, it wouldn’t be mean to say that Brandy sounded better than Rihanna’s original work. It’s an opinion. Nothing wrong with having an opinion at all. I love Brandy’s 22 second rendition and she makes her own. Rihanna does a good job, obviously because it is her song after all. But, Brandy gives it an amazing R&B sound & I love it!
