Now Those Are Daddy Issues: Frank Ocean’s Dad Is Suing Him For $1 Million

The story of absentee fathers that come back around once their children make it big is a common one. Frank Ocean’s story however, has a different spin on it. You see, Frank’s Dad isn’t looking to come back into his life, make amends and catch up on the time they missed out on. Instead, he wants to see his baby boy in court. The singer recently took to his Twitter page to express that his daddy dearest was suing him for a cool million.

” father wanna sue me for a million. like i owe him back child support. weak individual bought me a swiss knife at 6yrs old then dipped on me.”

“i got his DNA, maybe I inherited some of his karma too,” he tweeted.

The nature of Frank’s father’s lawsuit hasn’t been revealed, but according to Bossip he hasn’t been in touch with his kid in over fifteen years. With that in mind, we’re really curious as to what his reasoning behind suing Frank could be.

While we don’t know much about the 25-year-old singer’s father, he does discuss his father not being around in his song, “There Will Be Tears”, which was featured on his 2011 mixtape.

Witnessing your father abandon your family at a young age has to be a hard pill to swallow. But, to add insult to injury by suing your kid now that he’s a successful singer and songwriter is just wrong. It is clear that Papa Ocean wants a piece of the pie, the only question is whether or not he’ll get it.

I guess we will have to wait and see this story unfold, but we’re hoping whatever judge Frank’s dad has to stand before orders him to have seat. Several.

What do you think of Frank publicly announcing that his father is suing him? Do you think this is something he should’ve kept under wraps?

This is why people, if your alive and healthy take care of your own kids. Do it for you and them plus you just never know who they might grow up to be. God looks at a man that don’t take care of his family like a non believer. Take care of your kids.

  • Even though we don’t have all of the details I wanna know what lawyer allowed these papers to be filed in the first place. If you haven’t been in your child’s life since he was 6, I highly doubt that a 6 year old has done anything $1 million worth.

  • TiffyTiff

No, I wouldn’t have uttered a word of this. Dad can’t have 1$ Million nor 5 minutes of fame.

  • Kaori

    Not surprising.

  • chanela

i can’t with people putting their business on twitter. DAMN!

    • Nene

I agree.I know sometimes you just need somebody to talk to but to let the whole world in on your business is crazy. My sister do the samething on facebook. I told her don’t be telling the whole world my biz.

  • LisaLisa

Can I sue my dad for not being around…..

Who am I kidding I probably wouldn’t get anything

  • ANTMilf

His father ain’t ish! When these deadbeat parents want nothing to do with you when you have nothing and then when you become successful, they act like they owe you something, I hope his ishtty father don’t get one dime of Frank’s money and who buys a 6-year-old a Swiss knife?

    • Nene

I agree. Shaq and Oprahs real fathers tried to come into their lives after they became famous, but they didn’t want nothing to do with them and I don’t blame em. Now Jay Z on the other hand did for his deadbeat daddy right before he passed which was really sad because J didn’t get to spend a lot of time with him. Kelly Rowland dad tried coming back into her life but I haven’t heard anymore about that. I know she looks to B dad like he her father to so I don’t think she thinking about her real father.

    Mo money mo problems!

  • realadulttalk

What is it with these deadbeat dads thinking they are owed something? You didn’t even take care of your child in any way but now you want a cookie???

  • I’m glad he called his unrighteous azz out. He outta counter sue him for back child support and mental and emotional anguish.

    • qui8tstorm83

Yep! A counter sue would shut Pops DOWN real quick! If it’s a good judge they would make is dad pay back child support even though Frank does have money! Donate the back child support to kids in the same situation he was in. How and what can you sue your child for who you’ve NEVER taken responsibility for? WTF? Karma is one BAD B*#&h!

    • Nene

I agree. Now he wants something to do with his son after he gets money he is no good. He been out this boy life all these years he should have stayed gone.

      • Precisely. Frank ought to “pay” him no damn attention. Let his attorneys handle pops.

  • JaneDoe

Lesson to all you dead beat fathers.. Karma is a beyotch.

  • Wait when the government comes with the idea of PARENTS SUPPORT to help them with the SOCIAL SECURITY problem.

Sooner or later children will be required by the government to send take care of their parents.

    • Ambitious12

I already told my mom that when I get my money I’m taking care of her and my dad… I wouldn’t want to end up getting sued from a man that I call my dad who hasn’t been in my life like Frank.

So basically people are to support a parent that disowned them, didnt care about them until they made money and basically chucked the dueces? SMH Parents need to think about all of this before they decide to leave or abandon their child. I didnt see Shaq’s daddy suing him or that ratchet mother of the biracial basketball player who gave him up for adoption doing this.

PS Im supporting my parents because they was there, if one of them didnt want me at all I wouldnt do a thing for them if they popped up after I made some money.
