You Signed Up For The Wrong Show: Reality TV Stars Who Should’ve Been On A Different Series

December 21, 2012  |
Now that most of my favorite reality TV shows are a few seasons in, I’m starting to feel like I actually know the cast members, and the more I find out about them, the more I can’t help but feel like a few have signed up for the wrong show. I’m not talking about the typical, nobody on this show is really a basketball wife, so why are you wrongness, I mean people whose personalities and issues would actually make them better for a different series altogether.

Keke Wyatt: “R&B Divas” or “Couples Therapy”?

Keke Wyatt is definitely an r&b diva and I enjoyed watching her with Faith, Monifah, Syleena, and the gang on this premiere season of the TV One show. But, and this is a bit but, Keke has some issues — relationship ones. At first I thought Keke didn’t realize that it was odd to have her husband around all the time, and figured maybe they’re inseparable like Alex and Simon the “Real Housewives of New York.” That’s not exactly the case but they do have something in common, they need to be on “Couple’s Therapy” just like them.

Keke openly admitted that she believes if her husband is not with her at all times he will cheat and that’s why she runs his life. If she decides not to return to “R&B Divas” next season, she should definitely consider giving the folks over at VH1 a call. I think Dr. Jenn Berman could break down some of those issues for them.

JoJo Hayley: “Couples Therapy vs. Rehab with Dr. Drew”?

Speaking of “Couple’s Therapy,” this past season it was so clear to me why JoJo and his wife, Tashaunda, were having issues as a couple — he had to many issues on his own. JoJo is an alcoholic plain and simple and that reality was the source of their issues as a couple. Unfortunately, he wasn’t even willing to admit that, which meant they couldn’t move forward together because he wouldn’t get his own individual problem out of the way. Even more serious was a medical doctor telling JoJo he was in danger of dying very soon if he didn’t  stop drinking. He would have been far better off indulging in celebrity rehab with Dr. Drew before trying to save his marriage.

Jackie Christie: “Basketball Wives LA” or  “Iyanla Fix My Life”?

Jackie is one of the few women on “Basketball Wives LA” who is actually a basketball wife, which is a good thing for credibility but after learning just how unstable she and her family are on season 2 of the show, it’s so clear BBWLA is not where she needs to be. Jackie’s need for acceptance is disheartening, particularly because she seems to be vying for the accepatance of a random group of co-stars more than her own daughters. And if the claims Jackie’s daughter made about her mother’s treatment of her darker skinned, overweight sister are in fact true, it’s no surprise the Christie family has been torn apart. Iyanla needs to pay this family a long visit to work through all of their issues. I’m talking a two-part special. Jackie has way too many more series things to fix than to be dealing with the craziness of basketball wives.

Shaunie O’Neal: “Basketball Wives” or “Hollywood Exes”?

If Shaunie was really worried about people seeing her as a hot, ghetto mess, like she claimed at the end of this past season of “Basketball Wives,” she would have distanced herself from the cast long ago. Honestly, we barely see Shaunie on-camera as it is, and whenever we do, she sits by idly as her friends act a fool. It seems pretty clear she’s not down to clown herself but unfortunately she won’t stop others. To distance herself from the negative rep of BBW, Shaunie should consider her VH1 neighbors of “Hollywood Exes.” These ladies know how to keep it classy and don’t have time to throw bottles and engage in catty chit chat because they’re too busy worrying about their own business. If Shaunie wants to be seen as the business woman she claims she is, maybe she should surround herself with some.

Tiffney Cambridge: “Marrying The Game” or “Love & Hip-Hop LA”

OK, I know LHH doesn’t actually have an LA franchise — yet — but that show concept would be far more fitting for Tiffney Cambridge than her current show, “Marrying the Game.” First off, the show is a wrap after four episodes and as those who actually watched observed, clearly there was no wedding. Who really thought there would be though? After going back, back, forth, and forth on their wedding cancellation, and keeping in mind the pair has already been together about nine years or so, it’s evident Tiffney fits in much better with the Mimi Faust, Chrissy Lampkin ilk, chasing after male entertainers for a ring. I bet that show would have lasted too.

Cynthia Bailey: “RHOA” or “America’s Next Top Model”?

Cynthia doesn’t really add much to the “Real Housewives of Atlanta” crew but after seeing how she handled the Jet Beauty search at the Bailey Agency, I do see a place for her skills on another series: “America’s Next Top Model.” Cynthia definitely wouldn’t be the Janice Dickinson of the panel, but you always need at least one judge who actually cares about the feelings of the contestants and actually honing real talent. One thing that can’t be denied is Cynthia does have a passion for modeling and she wants to share what she knows, maybe someone would actually respect her opinion on ANTM, instead of her getting shut down all the time on RHOA.

Kenya Moore: “RHOA or “The Bachelorette”?

Honestly, Kenya Moore fits in perfectly with the RHOA, but if I have to sit through another season of her oggling a ring I will have a breakdown. Why not put Kenya on a show where she actually has a realistic chance of getting proposed to when all is said and done, like the “Bachelorette?” Though you might be thinking who would actually sign up to date her after seeing how she has behaved so far, let’s not forget a slew of eligible bachelors lined up to date Tiffany Pollard on “I Love New York.” Kenya’s odds have to be as good as that  nut balls.

Mimi, Joseline, and Stevie: “Love & Hip-Hop Atlanta” or “Sister Wives”?

It’s a stretch, I know, but let’s not act like this threesome isn’t one step away from being in this arrangement anyway. If there’s any group that is set up to be on a LHHATL spinoff, it would definitely be these three. Joseline and Stebie have been seen out and about just about every other week since season 1 of this show aired, and Mimi can try to act like her interactions with Stevie are just for their daughter but I highly doubt they’ve been taking their little one to the club with them. These girls are essentially lapped up in the passenger seat of Stevie J’s bus and I’m sure he’s a member of this new-age legalize polygamy campaign, so the possibility of a “Sister Wives” debut isn’t that far off actually.

Olivia: “Love & Hip-Hop” or “R&B Divas”?

OK, I know Olivia doesn’t quite have the pipes befitting of the ladies on “R&B Divas” but she also has no hip-hop connection to keep her on LHH. Olivia said she didn’t know if she was going to come back for another season of the VH1 show, but for some reason she’s decided to, despite her irrelevancy. Olivia isn’t trying to get her foot in the door, she’s already had her run in the r&b game much like the ladies on the TV One show. I think she has a better chance of putting an album out with them than she does her own.

Jackie Christie belongs in the loony bin. Just that.

  • Moony

Brande you need to go work for a production company or casting or something. Olivia does not need to be on LHH. You are so spot on. Her time was wasted on that show.

  • Moony

This writer is a true pop culture fan! Lol You really did your work and it all makes sense. Jackie is Crazy and needs Iyanlya. Shaunie definitely belongs on Hollywood Exes. It really makes so much more sense.

  • I like Olivia, and think she is pretty decent when it comes to singing as well, but R&B Divas is a better place for her. I think she would benefit from the lack of drama!!

  • As much as I love her I would have to put Trina Braxton on celebrity rehab as well!!

  • Golden Girl

Olivia idk! I give up on her. She isn’t doing anything with the frame from L&HH.

  • Darkfather504

Houston we have a problem – Jackie Christie gets married every year

  • Maldrie

I think some of you need to take the time out to R-E-A-D what was typed carefully before you comment. Any-who! KeKe just needs therapy to be able to let go of that pain she is holding inside of her from being hurt, once she is able to do that things will be better in her marriage and she will be able to trust her husband to be out of her sight without thinking the worst. He is not the other man that did her wrong so she needs to stop punishing him for the past man’s mistakes.

  • Kenya needs to be on Iyanla Fix my Life…or a new show that should be called “Hoe have a Seat.”

  • Numero Uno

Wow. So many typos already and I’m only on page 4. Almost makes me not want to keep clicking through to the rest. Smh.

  • lena

Jackie Christie also needs to be on TLC’s “What Not To Wear”

  • J Garnes

Joseline, Mimi and Steebie definitely need to be on TLC and have a Sister Wives show! That mess would be pure fckery but entertaining nonetheless! I got a good chuckle out of this list!

  • who in the hell edits this flu ckery?

  • Miss_Understood

I totally agree with this list

  • kb

    true!

  • So true.KeKe is crazy. and Her man is a dingbat for being ok with going everywhere she went.

  • NYC Gal

All of these women are seeking fame because why would you want to embarrass yourself and getting peanuts for it.

  • Dawnn

I was so tickled from Shaunie but it is true. She sit there and watch the rest of them act foolish and cuss and fight each other. She should at least got some guys staff to intervene when they do start fighting. I guess when you getting rich off your buddies acting ignorant and foolish, you just be laughing all the way to the bank. Shaunie does not want it to stop. She is making too much money.

  • realadulttalk

I feel like every post since that open letter post has been a numerous page click–I feel as though you are trying to make a point. Someone let me know when a post has less than 3 pages.

Lol, still filled with errors though. And Brande’s work is usually flawless. Guess their giving their readers the middle finger saying they do’t care whether we come or not.

      • Shaela129

Please do us all a favor and stay off the site if this truly urks you this badly. Really though!

      • Ally

Maybe you both should write it yourselves then…

  • Erin George

R&B Divas is a TV One show, not VH1. Don’t open with an error. Check your work.

  • this was a great list many of these are spot on
