You Never Know What She’ll Say: Gabourey Sidibe Talks New Movie And Dating!

Academy Award-nominated actress Gaboury Sidibe is on top of her game and clearly living her life like it’s golden. Whether she’s telling behind-the-scenes stories from her latest film, Yelling to the Sky, or talking about her favorite date night spots, she is candid and never misses an opportunity to share a laugh.

On whether or not she prepped for her new movie Yelling to the Sky:

Not a lot. I’m from Bed-Stuy, and I grew up in Harlem so all of the things that happened in the film I’ve seen in real life. So I guess I’ve always been preparing to take on a role like that. That’s why it was so honest, and it was so familiar for me so I didn’t have to do a lot of research at all.

About that guy we saw her with last year:

Wait, what? (laughs) That was like a year and some change, it almost two years ago! That boy has been gone. Game over. That was my ex-boyfriend, and he is very, very “ex” now. I am currently not dating anyone, or maybe I am dating everyone. I love being a grown woman in my own apartment in New York City. You know hanging out with who I want to. I don’t have to call home to make sure some man knows where I am all the time. I am really enjoying that life right now.

    She is African and the long tradition (now in some countries they are focusing on health conditions) is thr bigger you are it shows you are wealthy: how much you eat =how much can afford and vice versa. In Korea an African woman told me I would be considered dirt poor and would be “fattened up” lol being that big isnt healthy but if you truly love all things “black” it would behoove people to do research

      Gabourey Sidibe is african AMERICAN and has grown up with AMERICAN cultural norms not AFRICAN. I very doubt she has been to Africa and if she has it is probably as a tourist. Plus I highly doubt you are the anthropology expert you are projecting yoursef as. Africa is a large continent, you are not specific about the country or tribe in Africa you are talking about. I doubt you even know yourself. Yes in cultures which are poverty striken, larger people do equate to wealth but not all of Africa is poverty striken so you have to be specific.

      I’m glad to see some of us are not in denial and using the very tired, “she probably has a medical condition” excuse.

      Her camp need to put her on a healthy eating plan.

      For the love of God! I think Gabby knows she is fat. Losing weight is a battle period. This sister is doing something very positive in her life and all you can focus on is her weight… really?!?!
      I bet this sister could find the cure for cancer and some superficial person will still talk about her weight. SMH
