It’s Not Just Us: Adam Levine Calls Honey Boo Boo ‘Complete F**king Ignorance’

If you thought we, as in black women, had a problem with our reality TV presence, Adam Levine’s recent outlash at the TLC show “Honey Boo Boo” has completed eclipsed any of our concerns. As part of GQ magazine’s Punch List, the singer made no effort to hold his tongue when asked what’s scarier, waking up not famous or waking up as one of Honey Boo Boo‘s parents? Brace for his response.

Seriously, Honey Boo Boo is the DECAY of Western civilization. Just because so many people watch the show doesn’t mean it’s good. So many people witness atrocities and can’t take their eyes away from them, but that doesn’t mean they’re good.

That show is literally The. Worst. Thing. That’s. Ever. Happened. It’s complete f**king ignorance and the most despicable way to treat your kids. F**k those people. You can put that in the magazine: F**k those idiots. They’re just the worst. Sorry, I’m so sensitive to that—like, I don’t know, man, it’s upsetting. Just to clarify, I said, “F**K THOSE PEOPLE.”

Well then.

I mean we’ve got some ratchet things going on in television, but no one ever approached the situation quite this way. While we’re trying to figure out how much folks like Joseline and Mimi are supposedly setting us back, Adam is just like eff those people. Maybe that’s the best way to approach it. No need to try to explain the ratchetry, just eff it.

Do you think Adam is being too harsh or is he on point about Honey Boo and ‘dem being the decline of western civilization?

Adam is GORGEOUS.. Back to topic he’s Correct. They are poor however that gives no excuse for their behavior. You don’t have to be a product of your enviornment. The thing is black americans love these types of shows and encourage it by CONTINUING to watch bbw lhh and etc. Adam is speaking out and voicing his opinion. They should act with class and they can because they’ve been on countless episodes of toddler and tiaras. I agree with him most people know every basketball wive and rap lyrics but cant name members of congress house or representatives or senate

  • get real

Once again blk women don’t know when thy are being made fun of. Honey boo Boo’s whole sthick is that of a ghetto blk woman. “A dolla make me holla honey baby chile”etc. They are making fun of blk women. This show disgusts me just as much BBW’s

This is the same douchebag who’s on a reality contest show. Both shows are pretty much in the same arena – they’re cheap, easy to make and entertaining. They give a platform for fame-hungry people who wanna find the best shortcut for their 15 minutes. You could argue that ‘The Voice’ is relatively better than most reality contest shows, in the sense that the advice given to the hopefuls is coming from people who have EXPERIENCE, but producers still manipulate the audience by giving the contestants a back story with a big dollop of sad, cheesy music to elevate the scenes. BBW, LAHH, RH and ‘The Voice’ all do the same thing – they’re just the lesser of several evils. Have several seats, Adam.

Well damn. I’ll just be sitting over here…waiting for Adam to tell us how he REALLY feels. LOL

I’ve never watched an episode of “Honey Boo Boo,” and don’t intend to. Frankly, I think most reality TV stinks.

Let that little girl make her money. She and her family are just having fun. It may not be what you think families should be doing, but they are doing it together.

  • beenana

Wow! hes talking to them like he hates them and he never met them. I do feel like the show is dumb however its funny as hell to me. People need to take the stick out of the arse and just enjoy stupid chit. And furthermore I think its wrong to attack her mothering skills. Thats a low blow. Yes some of the things they do in they family are not socially norm but neither is me looking at my sister ooh ha b.c she accidently put carmax down there. at the end of they day they seem to get along better than most family and they are happy. dont judge just live people. Geesh!

I mean, but people treat other reality stars harshly that they don’t know either. We all do it. You see someone on television for a few minutes and have completely decided on whether or not you not just like the person, but if you hate them or not. And not meaning you, but most viewers. I’ve never seen L&HHA, but I know that people have degraded most of those people on the show, and even calling a woman a man on regular occasion.

As for the Honey Boo Boo family (which show I don’t watch either) they’re antics were enough when they were investigated for child abuse, for a time when they took their daughter to a bar at happy hour to sing and dance while drunkards gave her spare change. They might not be bad people, but their parenting at times appear (from the small clips I see on The Soup, or from what I hear people telling me) seems neglectful.

I will never forget the episode when they went shopping in the dumpster lol their show is crap but so is 90% of tv so..

    Well he’s not wrong.

  • kickash

i think he’s taking out some anger about x factor talking all the ratings from the voice. bitter queens…..

  • FromUR2UB

In the 60s and 70s it was soap operas, talk shows in the 80s and 90s, now reality shows. All of it drama and voyeurism, but at least the soap operas were about fictitious people and places.

  • Meyaka

    He is 100% right.

    • TRUTH IS

      Agreed…the dumbing down continues!!!

  • Kaori

I don’t think he is ‘on point’ or being harsh. His comment seems more like someone talking for the sake of talking.

  • ANTMilf

Who cares he’s being too harsh, he’s right! Reality TV right now and their ratings is like the movie Idiocracy with Luke Wilson, Maya Rudolph and Terry Crews (as the president) that dumb people taken over the world 500 years in the future. This is why I don’t watch that much TV or let my child watch too much TV, better off reading a book instead!

  • Live_in_LDN

His comments are extremely overdramatic, melodramatic and reek of class snobbery.

I’m just speculating but maybe the fact that ‘ratchet’ anglo saxon/germanic descendents are being put on tv has hit a nerve. He probably gave Jersey Shore a pass because they are Italian.

  • Laine

He’s being way too harsh! I’m sorry, but I think there is a clear difference with shows like BBW and LAHH and other ratchet reality shows. Honey Boo Boo and her parents and siblings do not fight in public, trow drinks on each other, cheat on each other etc. The show portrays them clearly loving each other.. Yes they are poor, yes they are poorly educated, no they are not fabulous, but you know what? They are who they are, and they do not pretend to be something that they are not.

    • Trisha_B

      I agree!
