Let’s Talk About K. Michelle’s King Mag Cover: Good Look Or Hot A** Mess?

November 21, 2012  |

Normally we wouldn’t be bringing you tales of the butt-naked big-booty vixen on Madame Noire but since K. Michelle gets plenty of discussion on our site — and they are a lot of ladies rooting for her success — so I figure this is worth a chat as well.

Yesterday, King mag dropped a preview of it’s upcoming reality issue which on one cover has “Basketball Wives LA’s” Brooke Bailey and on the other, “Love & Hip-Hop Atlanta’s” K. Michelle. Since Brooke does this for a living, it’s no big deal to see her behind plastered on the men’s mag, but for K. Michelle the question is, is this really what you want to be doing?

Now granted, K certainly has the assets to flaunt, and we’ve already seen a lot of her body anyway, particularly on her “Zero F**ks Given” album cover which features her in nothing but a pair of panties. But there’s something a smidge different about being artistically bare and having a straight backshot spread, which this clearly is from the pics inside of the issue. Of course K isn’t the first singer to bust it open for a men’s mag. Ciara, Christina Milian, Mya, D. Woods, and even Keyshia Cole have showed a little skin for the magazine, but not this much. And with the exception of Keyshia, none of these women is taken too seriously in the industry and they haven’t had much longevity as singersm and dare I say it don’t have much vocal talent to begin with. I get that some say there’s no such thing as bad publicity but I feel like K. Michelle has the vocal capabilities that prevent her from having to resort to these antics to get attention. But then again she most likely got her latest Warner Bros. deal from her participation in LHHATL and we all know the level of foolery there so this may not be so different.

Personally, I just don’t want to see K turn into another artist who spends more time doing things like this than actually singing and doing shows and making albums and going on tour. But for now I guess she just has to get in where she fits in, which apparently is on the cover of King mag. What do you think about K. Michelle’s King magazine cover?

NO! NO! NO!, just NO!….You just signed a deal, this is not a good start

  • Alohilani

I wish women would just say no to these things.

  • Kimmy

I wants to like K. Michelle, Gawd knows I do… But somebody should be killed dead for the foolishness here!
I honestly don’t know any of her songs but having heard her sing she has a lovely voice, if she would just grow the hell up and focus on her talent rather than the other BS it’ll all fall into place. She needs to humble herself.

  • *sigh* Wow. K, i would have never thought she would go to this level… She is above that. Come on girl…

  • Miss_Understood

I am a fan of K. Michelle’s voice and I do find her entertaining (most of the time)…I think we forget that she is probably genuinely a ratchet person and that no one is forcing her for publicity or buzz, etc to act a fool or show her butt (literally & figuratively)…If this was someone more “wholesome” or “classy” I would find this cover pretty surprising but with her, it fits…

    • scandalous7

you said genuinely ratchet omg I died mk.

  • NaturalJem

I don’t think this is a good image for someone who is advocating to encourage other women dealing with domestic violence….matter of fact I don’t think this is a good image period!!

She’s trying wayyyy too hard. After hearing her on interviews, reading about her antics online and etc. I have come to a conclusion: This woman has zero common sense. I think doing the show may have been a good move…if she portrayed herself a little better. She is talented, But she does not have common sense.

  • eyeconic1

She can sing. But, her antics on the show has turned me off from even checking for her music. The mores he tried to prove her point the more she dug a ditch. Loud, classless and her attitude sucks

  • rzakia

    K. Michelle already spends more time doing other things that isn’t singing. I wanted to root for the girl but she seems like a bird. She curses people out, threatens to fight, and just all around acts the fool on the regular. The girl can sing and she’s a pretty girl but she needs to get her priorities straight and just sing and stop with all the extra.

Shes already off to a bad start. If she wants to be a popular and memorable artist, she needs to focus on getting those songs on the radio AND presenting something that makes her stand out. Shes one out of the hundreds of ppl who think showing a little skin will make her successful. As we know that lasts a few months and then its on to the next flavor. Hope she gets it together, she has a nice voice and it’d be ashame if she threw it all away to go down this road.

  • ANTMilf

Good look to men (the dumb ones), hot a** mess to us women!

  • realadulttalk

Personally I find the pic very unflattering –I never thought she looked so hard in the face on the show. Anyway…I wanted to see Brooke’s in comparison and I must say her is much more tastefully done. I think she’s a little green on this side of things–she’s showing more in her spread than Brooke is.

  • unrequitedlove

I’ve seen her sing live and she definitely can sing her artificial cakes off.She just comes off as a classless rodent at times. She’s the definition of when keeping it real goes wrong

  • Kellz

She looks a MESS on that cover….everyone isnt a zero but cmon K!! Like the author said.shed too talented for this

  • Nikkita Michelle

I don’t see any other magazines giving her a cover before her album drops. But when you sing as well as she does you really should just let your talent speak for itself.
