Nicki Minaj Comes For Barbara Walters: Am I Not Good Enough For You Because I’m A Little Black Girl That Raps?

“My Truth” is certainly an appropriate title for Nicki Minaj’s three-part reality series because the hip-pop star definitely seems to have a distorted view of reality. On Sunday night’s installment, Nicki addressed the “American Idol” drama with Mariah Carey and the media aftermath, and surprisingly she had more harsh words for “The View’s” Barbara Walters than Mimi.

Nicki didn’t seem to appreciate that Barbara reached out to Mariah to get her side of the story and not her. And even though Barbara’s excuse that she had Mariah’s home number and didn’t know how to get in touch with Roman (even though the producers booked her on the show a couple weeks before) was weak, I don’t know if Nicki’s explanation for why that happened was totally accurate. According to Necole Bitchie, in her confessional, she said:

I hear that Mariah went to Barbara Walters with some more fabrication.  Telling Barbara Walters that I said something about a gun, which everyone knows I’m way smarter than that. Like, wow. I was like, ‘Really?’ My jaw was like open and I was in shock. I’ve never in my life said anything regarding a gun.

I did not say anything right away. I wanted everything to blow over, but you picking up TMZ and Barbara Walters…and now you’ve done opened a can of worms. Am I not good enough for you to get my side because I’m a little black girl that raps? Because if I was J.Lo, you would’ve called J.Lo’s camp. Are we not good enough for you now Barbara? Because you wasn’t even there when I was on the show, Barbara. So I guess I’m not good enough, I’m only good enough to tell people that I’m unpredictable when you don’t f***king know me.

Why would I want to have a rift with someone that I have looked up to my whole life. I’ve loved her. I even told her that in the meeting. I’m happy that Mariah’s on the panel because I think that’s a great thing. You’ve got one of the greatest singers that ever sang ever in the world. Ain’t nothing wrong with that, but the fact that you find something wrong with me being on there? That’s why there’s an issue.

Obviously it’s another ploy to get me off the show…And ain’t nobody gon’ run me off that motha f***kin’ show.”

Nicki also explained how her admiration for Mariah ended up turning into going toe-to-toe with her during auditions.

I just know that I had reached my boiling point.Twenty minutes before that happened, she egged me on and I was like, ‘You know what? Let me go.’ I walked off. I stormed off the stage because I didn’t want to do that. So, I left, and when I came back it was another jab and I said, ‘Okay, now I’m gonna show you…’ She’s admitted that she did not want another female doing the show. Thinking somebody’s coming to steal her shine, nitpicking, and I don’t do well with that passive aggressive s–t. I stay away from mother f–kers. I work and keep it moving. I don’t f–k with the people in the business, but I did the show today and it was good. I made it clear like, if you do that again, I’m gonna do this again. Like, I’m not gonna allow it anymore. I can’t.

Well, we haven’t heard of any shenanigans since. Maybe Nicki really did shut it down.

Do you think it was shady of Barbara Walters not to reach out to Nicki after the “American Idol” drama?

Oh, so NOW you’re a little Black girl. It’s tough to praise White ideology when you find they don’t like you, lol.

  • 77

    A fair question. :)

  • PHD

Over 20 years Mariah has remained relevant…will Nicki Minaj be able to do the same?

  • PHD

I’m a psych nurse…and I can tell you…we don’t like to hear the word… unpredictable. However, I don’t blame Walters for not reaching out to Minaj. Did she see the video footage of herself? She looked/sounded like a common hood.

  • http://www.facebook.com/lashton Leah Ashton

this is so stupid to me. if nikki wanted to clear things up about it she could have picked up her phone and called Barbra Walters. I still don’t like her as a judge on AI, she is a rapper not a singer. they are two different things. she is childish to me. iff she wanted to giver her side she could have, and chose not to so that is her dumbness. no one is going to sweat her for her side of the story, not Barbra walters anyway. save it for Oprah.

shut up and sit on ur booty pads Nicki, and so what Barbra didnt wanna interview you because of how you display yourSELF.

  • IllyPhilly

    That picture is atrocious.

  • dbatt001

stfu Nicki nobody on your side and you probably did say that thing about the gun based on the utter fool you were acting on the set……just, just, stfu already im tired of you. Almost as much as Rhianna, and Beyonce, etc

  • http://www.facebook.com/lynraedesigns Lyn Rae

Little black girl? Is she serious? It’s so hard to take her seriously. Oh wait she made sure of that with her trying to emulate barbie (the white one) at every turn. Isn’t her 15 minutes up yet?

  • http://twitter.com/Jus_RaeDae Raven

I find no fault with Barbara Walters. That’s like my grandmother trying to learn about the Drake/CB beef and tell others about it. She’s gonna get something wrong. Nicki needs to put the pills down and have a cool beverage.

  • ZaZa

Look at the picture…she’s not human anymore! a plastic doll

  • beck0974

Nicki has a 3 day show on E!. She needs some drama to amp up the ratings. All of this is for show. Of course she was going to be upset about Mariah making “digs” towards her, even if there were none. Because look, if I’m Mariah Carey, then yes, I will brag about my Grammys and my millions of records sold. Yes I will. Everyday. All day. It’s not Mariah’s fault Nicki hasn’t reach that level of acclaim. Notice how Keith Urban didn’t get all bothered about Mariah’s comments. Also, how unprofessional is it that someone with the Idol production team told Nicki about Mariah not wanting another woman on the show. That’s the production folks stoking drama, because those negotiations should have been private. And another thing, why shouldn’t Mariah be the only female judge on Idol? Paula Abdul did it for years. Jennifer Lopez, too. Hell, Christina’s the only woman on The Voice and no bats an eye. I think Mariah has earned the right to be the only chick on the show. So, if Mariah wonders why Christina, Jennifer, and Paula didn’t have to share the spotlight with another female artist, what’s wrong with that??? Doesn’t really have anything to do with whomever the production team selected. Mariah was going to ask that question. Mariah’s won more Grammys, sold more records, and has an infinitely more superior voice than all of them. Why did there need to be another female judge???

  • HonesT

Dear Nicki Minaj…..just stop….please stop everything you are doing and go sit down somewhere. you look like a black barbie (not a compliment) and I don’t even feel right referring to you as a black female rapper when there are and have been so many that can rap circles around you. Just stop before you destroy the rest of my generation….

    that deep

  • KeeKeeAlNatural

I am not team Nikki or Mariah, but Barbra should have mind her business. She really made the situation worse. Barbra wasn’t there when the incident happened so she should not speak on it as if she know all the facts. She had the opportunity to ask Nikki and she didn’t. I do feel that Barbra tried to ruin Nikki’s reputation on a professional level. Mariah need to chill out with all that DIVA mess and do her job. Also, we all need to remember that Mariah too can be unpredictable. No one holds all the nervous break downs & crazy moments she has had in her life.

    • Ladybug94

Journalism is Barbra’s business, matter of fact, she one of the most respected and highest paid journalist around and has been for years.

  • idiot

well nicki, that makes no sense, mariah is a big black girl who sings. shut up.

  • sammi_lu

Maybe Barbara didn’t call because she didn’t know who to ask for..Roman Zolanski, NIcki Lewinsky, Harajuku Barbie, Onika,… I mean what if she did call and one of them fools answered and told her she had the wrong number..Lol

    • Rene

lmaoooo…on so many levels, I just can’t with her.

Lmao. I just love the juxtaposition of the picture and the headline. Little black girl that raps,my left foot! This is not a race issue. How come Nicki almost always ”looks up to” or loves people the moment something bad happens to her? In the immortal words of Jay-z ”We don’t believe you, we need more people”

  • http://www.facebook.com/kimberly.whitehead.940 Kimberly Whitehead

Mariah Carey’s father was Black and her mother was white….no matter how you slice it, she is black.

  • t_99

Barbara Walters has been a journalist for longer than Nicki Minaj has been alive. People begs with interviews with Walters, and she calls whom she wants. Sorry, Nicki.

  • Alexa

A lot of your are so biased. I don’t like Nicki or her music but she has a point. As a journalist your job is to not only get the information but to fact-check the information given to you by the source. For Mariah to claim that Nicki threatened her with a gun is a serious allegation and Barbara Walters being the respected journalist that she is should’ve reached out to Nicki to get her side of the story.

    • Alexa

      *you

  • Candacey Doris

I just think she doesn’t feel Nicki would tell her the truth. Or maybe she feels Nicki doesn’t need any more publicity. Or maybe it’s because Mariah and Barbara have had conversations in the past. It doesn’t really matter. Seriously, in order to get people to take her seriously, she needs to stop reacting to all of these little slights and take the high road. You feed your enemies when you pay attention to them so let them starve.

    • http://twitter.com/SeikoIsKING Seiko

Nicki doesn’t deserve attention. It was bad enough the public gave her attention when we didn’t even know what to do with her.

    • Nikki

I don’t think this was something little. Someone leaked a video of her going off on Mariah and then Mariah says that Nicki threatened her with a gun. That’s something SERIOUS!

  • ANTMilf

Barbara Walters have class and I’m sure she doesn’t want to waste her time on immature, untalented, bad attitude having rat like Nicki Minaj!

    • TRUTH IS

If you consider class sleeping with married men….sure…just saying

      • Candacey Doris

Shhhh! You’re supposed to ignore that!. Lol.

      • ANTMilf

Sweetie, that was in the past and the man is dead, LEAVE IT THERE!

        • Nikki

But it STILL HAPPENED! Adultery is a dirty, dirty sin.

          • TRUTH IS

            …..and still classless

          • Kay

not everyone believes in Religon so your point is invalid.

            • Nikki

Adultery is still sinful. The word sinful doesn’t have to be religious. It also means immoral or unrighteous.

              • Kay

No the word sin comes from a belief in Religon. If someone doesnT believe in Religon then its impossible for them to “sin”. What is a sin? A sin is defined as a wrongful act against “God”. so again your argument is invalid.

  • nursej

I just can’t. Don’t play the race card, cause Mariah is also black. Maybe ita because no one likes you or understand why we have to be force feed your bs music…ijs…get over yourself, humble yourself maybe then you will get the respect you feel entitled to.

  • Nicki Coonaj

Nicki, have ALL the seats in the Staple Center! You call black women nappy headed h*es & every name of the book….you also praise and work for the ultimate BW hater (Hi Wayne), you lost your black card a LONG time ago..we don’t claim you!!!!

    • TRUTH IS

She can have all the seats at Madison Square Garden also….lol

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Kimberly-Reese/1133593574 Kimberly Reese

      whoa did not know that

    • Rene

especially not with that hair line…

  • AishaSaidIt

Black women that try to appear white, look as if they are in drag. And before you get all “what’s a white look?”, allow me to direct you to scroll up and gander at exhibit A.

It’s sad because I’m sure somewhere in there is a cute Trini woman begging for air.

    • Cleo

Not all black women want to appear white…ehh

      • Cleo

Ignore my comment I misunderstood what you were saying lol

  • AishaSaidIt

She just wants the respect that any highly altered, lace front wearing, plastic looking, can’t wait to put down any nappy headed black girl rapping, shallow, delusional, opportunistic, cooning, craves white people attention; pulls race card when threaten, Playtel Barbie wanna be, “black girl” deserves.

      • NeaJ

        Lmao!

  • Merriegirl

I think the author made a pretty strong claim of Nicki having a distorted view of reality at the beginning of the article. And did not back up her opinion on the rapper at all. Everyone has an opinion but what makes a journalist special is the ability to persuade others to share their beliefs by giving their analysis of the facts.

  • empress123

I think Mariah Carey should count her lucky stars that she is on this show and not complain about having to share the spotlight with another female entertainer. I may not buy NM’s music but I will admit she has her own audience and is relevant to some people. Mariah Carey has always been a self centered diva and it is about time someone put her in her place! She reminds me of Madonna and J-Lo. KNOW WHEN TO HANG IT UP AND GO OUT WITH CLASS! Nicki Minaj PLEASE stop using your race when it is convenient for you. YOU DRESS UP LIKE MALIBU BARBIE and expect people sympathize with your plight as a Black woman? PUHLEEZE! Barbara Walters is an old miserable crow and you shouldn’t care who she calls for their opinion on something as she is mostly irrelevant to this community!

  • nicki

No….because you’re a BIG white WOMAN who “raps” and doesn’t know how to control yourself and your big mouth!

  • Na Na

I think Barbara paid Nicki the exact amount of attention she deserves……nada, nilch, zero, finuti, cero. In every language just in case Roman, Martha and whoever else is in hat bird brain doesn’t understand English.

  • GeekMommaRants

If we were talking Chrisete Michelle, Estelle, Emeli Sande or Corrine Bailey Rae, would being a black girl matter? No! It’s the mud duck this old black woman hates!!! I usually spend between $100 – $200 a month on music, NOT YOURS!! The Queen, Miss demeanor, YES!!

  • Cleo

I wish she would stop calling herself black, Onika you are a lil white girl now.

    • Merriegirl

      What makes her white?

    • get real

Ok she’s white and you bed wenches here on this site worship the dog ish that white men step in. So what’s the difference?

    • Kiyoko Kayo Hisoka

Do you consider Kim Kardashian to be a ‘black girl’ now?

      • Cleo

Wow, when Kim kardashian darkens her skin and prances around in an Afro hair textures then I will. Just as Nicki minaj bleached her skin, slimmed her down and prances around in a blond wig emulating a white Barbie doll.

        • Candacey Doris

She already did. Did you forget the “Diana Ross” thing she did?

          • beck0974

She was supposed to be “Diana Ross”? She looked like Solange Knowles to me.

            • Candacey Doris

              Never said she succeeded.

    • Rosetta Stone

      LOL

    • Chassie

as long as you back up your claim by saying beyonce, rihanna, etc. are too, you can have your delusions

  • Trisha_B

She doesn’t look real in that picture lol…But i do feel like Barbra should have reached out to Nicki, for the fact that Mariah said Nicki threatened her about guns or something. Those are serious claims that should have been cleared up by American Idol producers & Nicki. I don’t think Barbra didn’t call Nicki b/c she’s a black girl, but b/c she’s a rapper. Rappers are stigmatized by a lot of journalist. For the longest Oprah wouldn’t interview a rapper. I don’t believe Barbra couldn’t get Nicki’s number for the fact that Nicki has been on the view before, so all she had to do was ask the producers for her number. I understand Mariah & Barbra go way back, but w/ claims like that you can’t be biased & put that info out there. Even Nick Cannon said things didn’t get that serious….But i do think Nicki tried to keep her mouth shut, but she reached her breaking point. Before they did the show, it already came out that Mariah wanted to be the only female. I think the footage of Nicki going off was put out by Mariah’s people in hopes it would get Nicki fired, b/c the video started midway thru Nicki’s rant. I’m sure those camera’s were rolling the whole time & caught what was said by Mariah.

    • beck0974

She did reach out to both of them on The View. Nicki decided not to respond. I guess she wanted an extra special hand delivered invitation to talk to Barbara. Or, maybe she felt she wouldn’t get a “fair shot” and declined. Or maybe she’d get more press by NOT doing the interview. Hence, the ridiculous comments about her being “a little black girl” (with blond wig, grey contacts, cake make up, and fake body parts. Not exactly what comes to mind when talking about “little black girls”.

  • WhoMe

    She raps?

  • http://twitter.com/Nerdstradamas Kendra

I kind of feel bad for Nicki Minaj because you can tell she wants so badly to be seen as iconic. She wants too much too soon. I know she looks at her contemporaries (Lady GaGa, Katy Perry, etc.) and probably wonders why she isn’t AS widely accepted as them.

Being that Nicki raps (this narrows her audience), has vulgar lyrics, and ZERO red carpet appeal makes her fall short. She may attribute it to race, seeing as though Lady GaGa and Katy Perry are equally tacky, but because they sing and do pop music, in a sense they can grab a little bit of that older audience and have a leg up.

Minaj really wants to be taken seriously and be equal to her contemporaries but, its not going to happen. She’s successful but her star is endanger of burning out much quicker. Oh well…

    • gmarie

right, parents can take their children to a Katey Perry concert and find some enjoyment in the music. Even if they don’t completely enjoy it they won’t be OFFENDED by it. Imagine taking your tween daughters to a concert where “Beez in the Trap” is performed? She’s just gotta accept that she can’t be all things to all people all the time.

  • http://twitter.com/LilMsJayMo Jasmine Moore

News flash nicki….you don’t deserve as much recognition and respect that you are already getting and you certainly don’t deserve more. Nice try race baiting but you must have forgotten mariah is half black and since you try.your damnedest to look white you should have left the little black girl lost comment alone

    • empress123

Ummm last time I checked Mariah was not half black. She is maybe a quarter black and I got what she was saying but NICKI you are black and dress up like a white girl. All of you are racially confused!

      • Renee

Mariah’s father is African American and Afro Venezuelan. I remember she showed a picture of him on that 20/20 special she did where she showed her twins. He definitely had the appearance of a black man.

        • Kiyoko Kayo Hisoka

Having the appearance of a Black man doesn’t make him Black.

          • GeekMommaRants

LOL– only in Idiot world! Our genes, you aint got!!!

            • Kiyoko Kayo Hisoka

Excuse me? Maybe you don’t understand. There are people who appear as one ethnicity but may be another. Prime example: I get mistaken as being biracial all of the time even though I am not. You got that, idiot?

              • gracie

                Omg y’all need to stop!

                • Kiyoko Kayo Hisoka

I don’t need to stop anything. If I don’t understand a comment, I ask for the person to clarify, not tell them they are an idiot or that they ‘sound so damn stupid’.

“Nobody is an idiot. Nobody is stupid.” – What are you telling me for? I am not the one who replied to someone’s comment telling them such. You all do yourselves a great disservice by not understanding what you have read.

And by the way, Spanish people are White and Mariah Carey is MULTIRACIAL, not biracial.

I was talking to ALL OF YOU. You know you’re a rude little something. I see why someone decided to be rude to you. And let me clarify… Venezuela is not a part of spain so I didn’t mean that her father was a spaniard. I meant that he is of Black and Latin descent. Hes Afro-Venazulan which means regardless of how the f u c k we see it Mariah is very much BLACK AND WHITE with a splash of Goya Beans and Rice

                    • Kiyoko Kayo Hisoka

Oh please. Go back and read the comments and you will see that the name calling did not begin with me, thank you very much. By the way, I am not little or a something.

Funny you should say that it doesn’t matter how we see it, because there are people arguing that simply appearing (how we see it) to be Black makes one Black. What a crock of horse manure.

                    • Kiyoko Kayo Hisoka

Oh and, since you were talking to everyone, you need to @ them, because your reply specifically shows that it was in response to me.

I know that Spanish is a language and I wasn’t referring to Afro Hispanics.

That would make her MULTI-RACIAL, not BI-RACIAL. Bi-racial means two races. Be means two. Multi means many! :)

Ethnicity is a mixture of culture, nationality and race. He pretty much hits 2/3. Maybe he isn’t African American, but he sure is black. Please go pop open a sociology textbook.

                • Kiyoko Kayo Hisoka

I don’t need to open a sociology text book. I was never debating the ethnic make-up of Mariah’s father. I was simply stating that just because someone ‘appears’ to be Black it doesn’t mean that they are. Simple as that.

                  • Candacey Doris

How about you just never go there again, okay? No one has any right to say what someone is no matter what they appear to be.

                    • Kiyoko Kayo Hisoka

How about you not tell me what I can and cannot do, okay?

                • Simone

Actually ethnicity is defined as what you define yourself as. Example= I am am African-American. Nationality= American. Race= Black. It’s ok though, it is a common mistake. I took many many many sociology, race, and ethnicity courses, so I am sure about this. They are all separate!

                  • Candacey Doris

Definitions vary. The one i have posted is the current definition in Multicultural Sociology, 4th ed.

              • GeekMommaRants

Actually having the appearance of a Black Man is the only thing that makes you Black. Black is a race, a physical character trait. Latinos, Africans, Jamaicans all Black. To be African is a heritage, a blood line. I think the Kiyoko person sounds crazy too.

            • Kiyoko Kayo Hisoka

So, if I appear to be Puerto Rican that makes me Puerto Rican?

              • Na Na

Not at all idiot because Puerto Rican is a heritage, a blood line. There is a place called Puerto Rico where Puerto Ricans come from. However please buy me a plane ticket to Black. Oh and after we fly there lets go to White! Oh I forgot…

You try to be smart mouthed and flipped but you just sound ignorant and stupid.

                • Kiyoko Kayo Hisoka

The only one who ‘sounds’ ignorant and stupid is you.

On one hand you say that if someone appears to be Black, then they are. On the other hand, if someone appears to be Puerto Rican, then they aren’t.

You are just creating arguments for you to respond to. I’m done with you.

                  • Na Na

Exactly you idiot!!!! Your mom should revoke your internet privileges because your obviously a 7th grader who hasn’t learned the difference between phrenology and genealogy. Your phenotype is what you look like. Your genotype describes the source of your genes and DNA including your ethnicity.

Like I said buy me a plane ticket to black, where Black people come from and Ill buy you a plane ticket to PuertoRico where PuertoRicans come from. f u c k i n g d u m m y

                    • Kiyoko Kayo Hisoka

Like I said, you are creating arguments to respond to.

                    • blacklaina

Giri, there’s black people all over latin america, they’re called agro latinos, slavery was all over america, not only in the usa…I’m afro puertorican, that means and afro descendant but 100% latina. It’s not so difficult to understand.

                    • Kiyoko Kayo Hisoka

Girl, where did I ever say that there weren’t ‘Black people’ in Latin America?

                    • Daina

LMAO! You really think there are Black people in Latin america besides the Latins. Oh lawd this girl is stupid….and arguing her stupidity. Just stop yall because clearly she needs psychological help, a geography teacher and some home training.

                    • Kiyoko Kayo Hisoka

What are you even talking about? Most of you here have only proven that you can read but not comprehend what you have read. Stop creating arguments for yourselves just so you can have something to argue about.

                    • Kiyoko Kayo Hisoka

If someone ‘appears’ to be Puerto Rican that doesn’t necessarily mean that they are because Puerto Rico is a country that one can fly to. BUT, if one ‘appears’ to be Black (or White), then they are because ‘Black’ or ‘White’ are not places that one can fly too.

That is what you have argued, and quite frankly, it makes no sense at all.

                    • Na Na

Sorry sweetie but you can’t appear to be Puerto Rican. Look, clearly your dumb as f u c k. There is no need to try and give you clarity. Yes the moon is made of the cheese on the KRAFT commercials, the cow did jump oer the moon and there is a country titled, Black, where Black people were born and originate from…you happy? Oh by the way while you’re sucking up the Easter bunny and Santa Claus make sure to wipe your mouth.

                    • Kiyoko Kayo Hisoka

Don’t be sorry, sweetie. Look, clearly you cannot address what I said because all you CAN do is make ad hominem attacks and name call.

Let me tell you something, I personally have been asked if I was this ethnicity or that ethnicity because of my facial features and skin tone. People all the time are told that they ‘look’ or ‘appear’ to be an ethnicity that they actually are not.

You can keep up the cutesy talk, but all you’ve done is proven that you don’t know what the heck you are talking about.

                    • Kiyoko Kayo Hisoka

If someone ‘appears’ to be Puerto Rican that doesn’t necessarily mean that they are because Puerto Rico is a country that one can fly to. BUT, if one ‘appears’ to be Black (or White), then they are, because ‘Black’ or ‘White’ are not places that one can fly too.

That is what you have argued, and quite frankly, it makes no sense at all.

                    • emm

Obviously you are struggling. What she is saying is that race is shaped by your appearance where as being puerto rican is a lineage/nationality. Its essentially the same as me saying I’m American. I can be a black American or a white American…
Come on now boo… lets get with the difference between ethnicity and race…

                    • Alohilani

Naw, you ‘come on now, boo’ I know the difference between ethnicity and race. Besides, my argument was not about either. Thanks.

                    • Vee Mack

Just stop, its makes perfect sense. You have lost this argument…Mariah’s dad looked like a light skin black man no denying that. And he didn’t even look like an extremely light skin black man.

                  • kia

you can be BLACK and PUERTO RICAN!!!!!!

                    • Miyo K.

Of course one can be Black and Puerto Rican. No where on here did I state otherwise or was even arguing about what race/ethnicity someone can and cannot be. Again, another person who proves they can read but not understand what they have read. Try again. Thanks.

                  • the guest

You are defensive and in over your head in this debate. black and white are social constructs set up to maintain the status quo of white superiority. Biracials are not black even when their skin is brown as they are born of a white parent and black parent. Which is why blacks especially light skinned blacks are resentful and hateful toward biracials. black is simply being born to two black parents even if one be really really really lightskinnedededed and your great great great great grandma was raped by a slavem a s t e r still negro. Lightskinnedededed with two black parents is NOT mixed or biracial.

                    • Miyo K.

                      1. I am not being defensive or am in over my head in this debate.

                      2. I don’t know what all that mumbo jumbo is that you’ve typed, because it does not relate to what I have said.

                      3. I never said that a light skinned person with to Black parents is biracial.

                • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=14208192 Kristin Marie

lmfao can you just be my friend? LOL!

              • EMM

Pretty sure Puerto Rican is a nationality not a race….

                • Alohilani

SMH. I never said that it was.

          • Ivy Leigh

Actually it does. Hence the reason why latinos are often asked whether they are black or white on questionnaires. This is usually self-determined by one’s appearance.

            • Kiyoko Kayo Hisoka

So, simply appearing to be something makes it true? “Hence the reason why latinos are often asked whether they are black or white on questionnaires.” – You can’t be serious!
Come on, you all. Stop trying to argue such non-sense.

              • Na Na

YES!!!! and maybe you finally get why slavery and racism is bad, you seem dumb enough to think otherwise, Race was created. No one is bor a race. People are born with heritages, ethnicities and cultures! But race is man made and man defined STRICTLY off of the way you look on the outside.
                Get it?
                Got it?
                Your still slow.

                • Kiyoko Kayo Hisoka

I’m slow? You don’t even know the difference between ‘you’re’ and ‘your’!

And what the heck are you talking about? When did this become about slavery and racism? What are you even arguing about? What are you responding that I said in order for this to be your response?

If something appears to be a bear, does that make it a bear?

          • Marisol

Well I’ll be sure to tell my dark skinned Latino husband that excuse the next time he’s pulled over the by the police…smdh.

            • Miyo K.

You can tell your husband whatever you want, but it has nothing to do with what I was saying here.

        • Rosetta Stone

No her father is afro-venezuelan who changed his last name to carey to get to the states. In his photos he loOks like a latino man with some color. dont keep falling for that “MARIAH is half blk crap” its BS!

          • Rosetta Stone

“Nunez” was his original last name

          • get real

He’s a black man of African descent that’s from Venezuela. Gosh. Why do blk people in America think Africa and the USA are the places where blk people are??? White people are the minority race (globally) The USA and Europe are the places where they are the majority, everywhere is black and people of color. Even Latin America is 48% black. Please read.

            • Rosetta Stone

Listen the only people that have been claiming this blk stuff in relation to mariah carey are bljk folks. Mariah went on george lopez show and said “im considered blk according to american law.” this means i dont claim blk but america wants to say i am. her fatjer is a latino man with a lil bit of color who she wasnt raised with.

              • Vee Mack

George Lopez looks like the Latino he is, but Mariah’s father looks black. Black is more than just African American black. How do you know how much Latino her father had in him? Did you give him a DNA test, while he was living. Folks look up his picture for yourselves. Mariah looks like a lighter skin version of her father. And her father looks like a light skin black man.

            • Dogma

Well said and perfectly true. I would go farther and even say that people of color are the majority in the USA too. It’s because on the last census they took away hispanic, allowing afro- Dominicans, Puerto Ricans etc. to select race only and they are selecting white of course. Now they say they took it off because hispanic is not a race- and the color black is? So where I work in the court system, they have brown Hispanic brothers with nappy cornrows legally listing themselves as white all the time. THE REAL WHITES HAD TO DO THIS TO MAKE IT LOOK LIKE THEY ARE STILL THE MAJORITY IN A USA BECOMING DOMINATED BY PEOPLE OF COLOR. So now, North Africans, Afro-Latinos ( unless they choose different- which they won’t), and Middle Easterners that come to America are white. Now, they make it seem like the only “Blacks” in existence are us and other folks of African descent are something else. They have plans- and especially since they’re trying to remove laws that protect us ( Voting Rights Act). Piece of advice: Be proud to be black, but stop marking it on the census.

          • Vee Mack

In his photo he looks like a light skin black man. Also there are black Latinos. Mariah Carey is half black, that is the way she was born

      • idiot

this is the problem, people get down to the percentages of blackness in people. cant remember the last time a white man had a fight about the percentage of irish he had in him and his legitimacy of caucasianness.

        • Kiyoko Kayo Hisoka

White people don’t have the history to argue such.

          • Irritated

Its crazy that your non-existence would make so many people happy right now.

    • Miss K

I hate the way articles like this get over 100 comments while other, more important topics can barely scrape 5… smh

  • Kiyoko Kayo Hisoka

Onika will be 30 next month. That is pretty far off from being a ‘little black girl’.

  • Yay!

“sigh’…. Oh this tragic girl. How many more minutes left on her 15?
