Do You Believe? Ice Cube Says “Friday 4″ Will Live Up To The Hype Despite Chris Tucker’s Ambivalence

Known for incorporating social and political awareness into his music, it’s no surprise that Ice Cube has released his latest single, “Everythang’s Corrupt,” around this year’s presidential election.

The track, which features Rage Against The Machine guitarist, Tom Morello, serves as the lead single from Cube’s Spring 2013 independent album of the same name.

During a recent interview with the Huffington Post, the 43-year-old rapper-turned-director opened up on the album, his role in the forthcoming NWA film and his thoughts on Chris Tucker’s “doubts” of another “Friday.”

Fans are also anticipating the next and final installment of the “Friday” franchise. And earlier this year Chris Tucker admitted that he has “doubts” about the magic still being there. What are your thoughts?

Well, my magic is still here so the movie is going to get done. The movie is going to be funny, and it’s going to live up to all the long-anticipated wait. I would hope that he’ll be a part of it. He’s more than welcome to be a part of it … It’s a trip, because you’re looking and somebody says that “the magic is not even there” who’s never even tried it.

We put the first one together and we can put another one together. So he should really trust that, and do what his fans want him to do. You should never out grow your fans. And if the fans want him to do this movie, that’s what we’re in this for, then that’s what he should do.

Ice Cube needs to STOP harassing Chris Tucker. Chris Tucker is a fortysomething years old father who made an adult decision not to reprise a role of a pothead. Chris Tuckers fans have evolved with him into adults disinclined to view stereotypical characters on film. Ice Cube you need to find another way. Kudos to Chris for not revisiting Smokey. May Smokey RIP!

I’M GONNA SEE IT REGARDLESS IF CHRIS IS ON BOARD OR NOT. EVERYONE HAS THEIR OPINION ON WHAT THEY FEEL IS FUNNY. HONESTLY MY BEST FRIEND AND I CAN WATCH ALL THREE AND ROFL. THEY WERE ALL FUNNY IN DIFFERENT WAYS AND INTRODUCED NEW COMEDIANS TO US, WELL TO ME. SO I SAY GO FOR IT CUBE!

The only Friday that was good, in the hood sense was the 1st one…the sequels were pure garbage!! Chris is smart for not doing those awful movies…and if he isnt in the 4th no need in doing it..its like doing Rocky without Sly Stallone!

The other 2 Fridays were hilarious without Chris Tucker,so I don’t see why we shouldn’t believe Ice when he says it will live up to the hype. Yeah the first Friday was a classic and better than the other 2 but its not like the other 2 were bad or decent movies, they were hilariously great movies. I think all 3 movies are classics and it would awesome if Chris was in the final one but even if he isn’t I’m still going to see it and I expect it to be good like all of the other ones.

I honestly think Cube shouldn’t even do the film without Chris, because while the last two Friday’s were funny in there own right, they didn’t even come close to the first! He should just write another comedy, give us another set of characters! Cube is creative, I’m sure he can make something shake.

No thanks
