In October I worked for Walgreens for two weeks hoping to be able to stay through college because they were willing to work around my classes. However, the work they put you through is crazy for minimum wage. I applied at the Marriott hotel and was hired instantly and trust it is better than getting berated and more pay. Don’t sell yourself short! There are jobs out there just be patient and look around.

So true. I worked at Macys and they are only paying $8 an hr and they put the workers thru so much work. Also add the insulting customers. The managers…only god knows what they do because all they do is come around and check off your name on their list and they do this for the whole fvcking day!! I do not overwork myself nor do I go out of my way to help the customers. Yes I am very stuck up!!

Being overworked and a high-stress environment comes with just about every minimum wage job. The people who make the least money do the hardest work most times. Yes, there are jobs out there, but these jobs require 3-5 years minimum experience or a degree. I’ve been unemployed for almost a year. Being patient isn’t going to cut it.

With the exception of Kindred Healthcare, all of the companies hiring above are probably only offering no more than $11.00 an hour with no benefits unless one is full-time and a schedule that frequently changes due to business. Additionally, lower level jobs at places like those make applicants take psychometric tests that reject your application if you don’t score in the green or yellow area. I am talking about the test that asks if you ‘strongly agree’ or ‘strongly disagree’.

I had a job offer at a low budget retail store rescinded once cuz I “failed” by two points lol. I think they look for people who won’t challenge anything…
