Why Are Tevon & His Mama Embarrasing Us? Triflin Hurricane Sandy Looters Take To Twitter To Brag

Ah, the foolishness. When the lights go out and cops are overshadowed by disaster, the looters emerge. Although the crime rate has been relatively low since Sandy hit the Eastern seaboard on Sunday,  cops have arrested at least 12 people for looting.  Folks have apparently been using Twitter to promote looting and report on their own looting efforts using #SANDYLOOTCREW.

The Daily Mail, a British publication, reported on the looting story and had all kinds of imagery of brothers including that of the ultimate fool, Tevon Jackson, who tweeted (see above) about his crime. Most of the looting has been reported in South Brooklyn, where electricity and power has been wiped out by the storms.

Several brazen thugs have robbed their neighbors and their local shops of everything from basic food stuffs to expensive electronics and they are taking to Twitter to broadcast their spoils.

‘Check out this laptop I scored,’ SevenleafB tweeted earlier today. ‘It’s easy just reach out an grab it.’
It appears the looters are organizing through the hashtag #SANDYLOOTCREW.

Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz has now called on New York Governor Andrew Cuomo to put a stop to the crime-wave sweeping South Brooklyn.

SMH. There have been reports of looters breaking into  liquor stores and into electronic stores and bragging about what they got. According to the Daily Mail:

Twitter user @OG_MLK posted a photo of a man grabbing hold of a big screen television with the caption Pics of my boy Demarcus swiping that tv #SANDYLOOTCREW.’

Despite the disappointing of the looting, I’m not surprised by it. It’s something we expect during times of chaos. I’m just more shocked that folks are taking to social media to talk about breaking the law and basically proving themselves guilty in the court of law.

For f*cks sake. This was a scam. You got trolled. I am ashamed of anyone who believes that a looter is going to post his own picture on the internet with a t-shirt his Mom looted for him. I am ashamed of America for spreading these falsehoods. Come on, you idiots. There is real looting going on, it’s minimal and this isn’t it.

I think I’ll ignore this topic. Let’s pray for the folks on the east coast, because according to weather reports, another storm is on it’s way there next week.

Isn’t there a button in twitter to shame them – or tweet how uncool their mess is. Who the hell are these people anyway?

SMH @ these folks telling on themselves!

    • Shirl

They’re too stupid not to tell on themselves. They even post photos of themselves committing the crimes with their names and all. Heck I recently saw a video of a chick giving her two year old weed to smoke…

  • Candacey Doris

I refuse to be ashamed on their behalf. NO WAY. All i feel is the intense need to educate these people the hard way.

    • IllyPhilly

      Plus one!

…now if that was a ribeye steak, a couple gallons of milk or even a few boxes of Capt’n Crunch, i would have given her a pass, considering the circumstances!! …but, nooo, she brings home a mannequin torso with a dingy tuxedo shirt on it!! I CAN”T EAT THAT, MOMMA!!

    • Nenah

Yes, they have nothing to do with me!

  • sabrina

These ghetto black folk woke up as early as 6 in the morning ready to start looting. Poverty is one hell of a thing.

  • SHA

WHY?!!! Exactly why is this site spreading this racist crap. Are only Black people looting? Even when we can control how the media portrays us we choose to do what they have always done. Once again disappointed with MN! Who really runs this site because you folks do not live up to your purpose ”
MadameNoire is a sophisticated lifestyle publication that gives African-American women….”
DO BETTER!!!! Have not seen an article about the heroism that’s going on there or struggles of the folks affected or a way to help. REALLY MN!! DO BETTER!!!

    • kierah

Really…we need to do better as a people. Some Black people absolutely DID loot post-Hurricane. It is truly disgusting. Not reporting it will not change a durn thing about that fact.

    • Sheena

I have been disappointed with this WAAAYYYY tooo much lately. I’m trying to support Black/African owned and run companies but dang. If its not spelling errors, non factual facts and to top it off the Editors have started popping off recklessly at the people who comment. SMH, PLEASE do better.
