Now that Nene Leakes is on her grown woman — five seasons into the “Real Housewives of Atlanta” franchise — Bravo needed someone to pick up where the reality star’s messiness left off. Many thought that person would be her right-hand man-woman Marlo Hampton but as we’ve seen from the Season 5 cast preview, she’s nowhere to be found. Who is, though, is newcomer Kenya Moore who seems all too comfortable checking a chick (or man) every now and then.
In an interview with PEOPLE, Kenya didn’t even try to shield the drama she was involved in during this season’s taping.
”I immediately bump heads with one of the other Housewives,” she said. ”[Cynthia] was being disrespectful and overstepping her boundaries, so I had to let her know that that wasn’t acceptable to me. It resulted in security being called.”
Sounds like the former Miss USA didn’t just use words to “let her know.” Unfortunately, it also seems like she’s a little proud of being an ish starter this season.
“Trust me, it is full of drama,” she added. “I am in the middle of most of it, and probably cause most of it. I went through a lot of ups and downs with the women on the show.”
Though none of us knows what it’s like to interact with these women on a personal level, one all-day marathon of RHOA immediately tells you what you’re getting yourself into participating in a show like this. It goes without saying that many people don’t understand what motivates others to join this cast, particularly at this stage in the game, but 41-year-old Kenya claims the opportunity sort of fell into her lap after she relocated from Hollywood to Atlanta to pursue a relationship.
“I’ve been successful in my career as a producer and actor, but [I have] no husband and no children,” she said. “I took a leap of faith and moved to be closer to the guy that I was seeing. The show came about, and I thought it would be an amazing opportunity for me to step outside of my comfort zone and take advantage of all the opportunities that a show like that presents.”
Given that Nene is the only person from the ATL cast who seems to have capitalized on any of her reality fame, Kenya may have taken a bigger leap of faith than she thinks. But apparently she’s okay lying in the bed she’s mad thus far.
“My fans have been kind, but this is a whole new world,” she said. “So far, people have been saying that I’m their favorite, and they haven’t seen one episode!”
Well here’s a snippet of an episode to help you decide. Looks like security may have been called more than once this season. Thoughts?
