Going Back To School: Celebrities Who Got Their Fame, THEN Their GEDs

November 2nd, 2012 - By Kendra Koger

As we all know, Drake recently finished his high school education, and in a speech he addressed to the audience how he didn’t realize how important an education was then, but he does now and how he’s glad that he went back for it.  When you’re already taking diamond showers and $100 baths, an education can be the last thing on some people’s minds.  But for the following celebs, when they were skipping through the rainbow of C.R.E.A.M., they were also attaining their high school education.

With a strong voice, the American Idol winner dropped out of high school after being harassed and raped by a classmate.  But, during the 2010 taping of her reality show, “Fantasia For Real,” they showed the proud mother not only graduate high school but walk across the stage as well.

Beyonce should have been #1 on this list….

    • Nikki

I don’t think she finished yet. She only started right after Blue was born, if I stand correctly…

  • Nikki

Good for them! Education is so important!!!

    • chanela

not really. not if you already have millions and millions of dollars. isn’t that honestly the only reason why most people finish high school and go to college anyway? to earn more money in your job? so what’s the point if you’ve already attained that goal? just sayin..

Drake just graduated from high school to give to his diploma to his mom. Some people want it for a sense of accomplishment. Some people need to go back to school because they need to learn how to form grammatically correct sentences and the phonetics of standard American English.

um yes but i’m preeeettty sure that his mom greatly appreciates not struggling financially, having a new house, and a new car tho. i’m just sayin. they would probably be struggling if he went the route other people take because having a degree doesn’t guarantee anything. the money that drake makes now would be what people with degrees make in a lifetime.

education IS important but it’s definitely not the only way, like people are making it out to be.

Remember when Fantasia Barrino revealed that she couldn’t read? My point exactly… A child that grows up in America shouldn’t be illiterate. A child that grows up in America should be able to finish high school before they turn 19. And if a child that grows up in America doesn’t accomplish these things it’s either the school system, parents, or their living environment…

            • chanela

ok now being illiterate is totally not the same thing! you should know how to read by damn 3rd grade! totally not the same situation as drake. yes fantasia needs school so she could read her contracts and stuff, drake can read… if you have basic skills like reading, spelling, speaking then you’re good. the rest is just repeats every year anyway.
