Who Needs A Career? 9 Celebs Who Just Don’t Seem To Care Enough About Their Jobs

These lovely, talented ladies started out on the right path. They had legitimate careers, bright futures. And then something happened. Something awful. Whether a questionable romance sidetracked them (Chris Brown, I’m looking at you!) or some odd behavior around town landed them on Bossip, they became hotmess gossip fodder of the Lindsay Lohan variety. Sure some of them have dug their nails into fame, refusing to let go, but others have fallen off Hollywood’s radar, and maybe that’s a good thing for all of humanity. So let’s take a look at some of the singers, actresses and TV personalities who seem more concerned with making headlines than focusing on the talents that made them famous in the first place.

Surprised Lauryn Hill isn’t on this list. She’s like the Axl Rose/J.D. Salinger of R&B/Hip Hop

  • kim

riri is very well known for her music, thank you very much!!! she’s one of the leading female artist right now along with her personality.

  • Liish

Nivea def. never has to put out another record (if money is the motivating factor). I wouldn’t accuse her of being a gold digger or anything but I will say she has made a wise (financial) investment in the men she has chosen to (love) lay up under and make babies. Several kids by the Dream and a fourth by Lil Wayne. If she wanted to live off them checks she could.

Rih stay releasing a a CD… Every year just about. I would say she is at least consistent.

Call me crazy but if I had achieved what any of these women have & had even half of their money, I’d probably be at home too.

    • Is It 5:00 Yet?

Right..all I need is one hit song and I’m gonna retire by I’m 25.

Smh @ Amanda Younger… u have got to do better… Idk if this article was your idea or something that was thrown together to make copy.. but STOP IT I SAY… there is so much wrong with this article that I don’t even know where to start… first off… you must be with every single one of these ppl every second of the day to know what they are doing with their careers… second… Kelly Rowland is on fire right now.. Rihanna obviously works hard…she has had album after album since she came out… and lastly what’s wrong with K. Cole being a mom and being in love… how do you know that being on tv is not something else she wants to do in her career… and if im not mistaken i believe she has a album about to drop…. As a site directed to women… y are you tearing other women down…smh…u r the hotmess

While Rihanna may not be the most talented person in the industry, that girl WORKS! & ya’ll can’t deny her that! That child was still on the Loud Tour when she released her Talk That Talk album, and she is getting ready to do a 7 Countries in 7 Days tour here shortly. She’s still young, and she has plenty of money, so why can’t she party and have a good time without folks saying that she’s wild? Chile, and all these common folks that’s partying every night and are JOBLESS (you see everything on FB, Instagram & Twitter)!

  • Caramel_Cookie

Btw, Kelly Rowland has way more talent than Cassie & Rihana put together, & for your information Kelly is doing her thing right now, she is on everybody’s single. You seem to have this crappy list backwards.

  • Sharmisa

Umm.. Who wrote this?? a hater I presume.. These women have had success in the past but who knows what they are going through now to get back on top.. I have been a fan of Madame Noire for a while but this judgmental article is making me second guess the vitality of this site.. Come on ya’ll get it together.. can we build each other up instead of tearing each other down as we always do..? ::sigh::

  • Merriegirl

This article is reaching. And shady.

  • http://twitter.com/islam_voodoo Hasaan Kadaafi

    Cassie had a career??

    • realadulttalk

Flatbacking is a career honey–I’d say she’s pretty darn good at it too. Oh, you meant music, huh? Lol

    • http://twitter.com/MsRedboneBrite Tee Elyse

That child got Diddy, and she holding on to him for dear life! LOL.. she really could have a career in modeling, though, because she’s gorgeous! I guess she feel like because she’s Diddy’s “right now”, she doesn’t have to do anything!

  • IllyPhilly

Most of these people made more money off of one job than non-celebs make in three years. They can skip the spotlight and still get paid. That should be the title. “Why do useless folks make more money than useful folks?”

  • ANTMilf

I haven’t heard about Nivea and Memphis Bleek in years. Plus there’s nothing wrong with choosing to be a full time parent over your career, their kids is their #1 priority over their careers.

  • realadulttalk

Let me get this straight. Kelly Rowland’s singing never sent shivers down our spines, but Rihanna came on the scene radiating talent??? And Cassie has vocal talent? WHAT?!?!?

  • TanTAn78

    Yah!

  • Na Na

Ugggh I am so about to stop coming to this site all together. When I first started coming here about 8 months ago I actually got good entertaining informative articles pertinent to Black/African women. Now it is all fluff pieces seemingly written by 6th graders with the exception of a good article here and there by Brande and Kendra.

So choosing to focus on one’s family can be likened to not “caring about one’s job.” Since when does raising a family constitute “playing house?” Some artists mature and move on from their “acts.” They are artists. For some, the picture has been painted. The money has been made, invested, and they are simply enjoying the fruits of their labor (i.e. Keyshia Cole, Kelly, etc.). Do better M.N.

    • http://twitter.com/Nerdstradamas Kendra

Exactly. So long as Keyshia Cole is smart about her finances and has a plan, I don’t care if she never releases a record again. I don’t know her personally, but I am proud of that woman. She had the will to do what a lot of artists from similar background don’t have the guts to do – and that’s transform and mature. Keyshia had examples of dysfunction all around her but still managed to have a loving marriage and raise a child in a healthy environment. That’s major.

      • http://twitter.com/MsRedboneBrite Tee Elyse

GIRL!!! & how can you “play house” when you are clearly a WIFE! (really can’t believe they wrote that!) SMH @ this whole article! Wives’ maintain the house, while the “wifeys” PLAY house!

    • Yvette

Agreed. Also Lauren London is indeed a single mother whose child happens to be by Lil Wayne. Why would MN assume that she is simply living off of the child support checks she gets from him. I’m sure she could and would if she wanted too but last I checked she is still grinding it out in Hollywood and has a gig as one of the new cast members on The Game which is a story I read right here on this site. She is also filming a movie with Paula Patton and a few others, also a story I read on this site. Please please do better fact checking MN and refer to your own articles before attempting to call folks out. SMDH

I’ve had to smh @ a few of the stories on here lately, girl! You ain’t the only one!
