Toya Wright lives in Atlanta, she’s pretty much a housewife, and she’s done reality TV before. Sounds like she’d be perfect for “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” right? She thought so at first. The wife of producer Memphitz told Sister 2 Sister that she actually considered joining the show, but then she had a change of heart.
“I interviewed for the ‘Housewives,’ but I’m so used to doing shows with my producer, James DuBose, and being an executive producer on a show so I’m able to see how they portray me. I work so hard to build such a positive brand and to just let people know who I am. I don’t want to mess that up,” she said.
Toya is one of few women who has actually managed to do reality TV and come out with her reputation intact. We were first introduced to her on the BET reality show “Tiny & Toya” with T.I.’s wife Tameka Cottle. Then she got her own series on the network, “Toya: A Family Affair.” Though she’s managed to stay in complete control of her image these past couple of years, even with the relational drama stemming from “Love & Hip-Hop Atlanta,” Toya says she can see how other women’s reps go in the tank.
“With the producers it’s about making good TV and some of them don’t really care about your personal life, as long as it’s something interesting for the cameras and something they can take to the next level to make juicy, they’re going to do it,” she said.
At least she saw Bravo’s game from a mile away and ran in the opposite direction.
Do you think RHOA would’ve been a good look for Toya?
