SMH: Teen Beat To Death Over Jokes About Gas While Adults Watched

There are so many sad factors in the death of Shaakira Dorsey, a 16-year-old Warrensville Heights, Ohio, girl who was reportedly beaten to death by another teen after making jokes about her passing gas.

According to news reports, the fight happened last Wednesday night around 8pm in a driveway. Shaakira had been teasing the other 16-year-old unnamed teen about something as silly as farting and the girls were soon engaged in a physical altercation. Local ABC News reports that two 911 calls were made during that time, one to report a fight and another to request an ambulance.

A 9-1-1 call from that night sounded, “At the end of my driveway, it’s some kids fighting, and it’s adults there watching … it’s adults, grown-ups there watching them fight.”

Most unfortunate is that among those who stood around and watched the fight is said to be the victim’s own stepfather. A police report states:

“When I asked [blank] what Shaakira had been doing prior to talking on the lawn he became very evasive and would not provide any information.  As I spoke with [blank] Shaakira’s mother [blank] arrived on scene.  She had not been notified of the situation but also confirmed Shaakira had no pre existing medical conditions.”

Later the report reads, “I again spoke with [blank] about the events leading to Shaakira’s collapse.  This time [blank] advised as he pulled in front of 4796 Walford Shaakira jumped from his cars back seat and ran behind an SUV  … [blank] then stated Shaakira and another girl emerged from behind the SUV fighting.”

Once the fight was broken up, Shaakira reportedly collapsed; EMS rushed her to the hospital, where she later died. The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner has not yet released her cause of death, but the other teen involved in the fight has since been charged with murder and is due in juvenile court today.

The Warrensville Heights School District released a statement on Shakira’s death saying:

“Warrensville Heights City School District is deeply saddened by the loss of a member of our student family, Shaakira Dorsey, who passed away on Wednesday evening. Shaakira was an eleventh grade student at the High School and a member of the Lady Tigers Softball Team.  We will follow our established procedures for this type of crisis. The Grief Counseling Team will be available in the High School throughout the remainder of the week and next week as well.  At this time, we are respecting her family’s privacy and ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers. Details regarding arrangements will be shared at a later date.”

I don’t know what else to say about this situation but SMH.

    what type of adult would sit there and watch that fight? Her own stepdad? wtf. people are getting mad at fart jokes now a days? my generation has to get better, this is so sad. R.i.p Shaakria you will be missed. Shame on the adults and that school. we have got to do better

    The adults who were watching were pathetic. If the police would have looked deeper into this, I bet they would find someone was probably filming this on their phone to post on some website for their sick entertainment. They adults should all be charged as well. They should spare no expense on them.

    Terribly sad that the girl lost her life behind taunting or whatever the real reason, terrible that the other girl is facing a murder charge behind something that adults could have stopped. I say if you can be charged with failure to stop and render aid..then these adult spectators should be charged with some equivalent to that.

    What is wrong people? There is better ways to solve a problem than resorting to violence. People need to learn conflict resolution skills. But I feel like it had to be something deeper than this girl picking on her farts, at least I hope it was. Either way it shouldn’t have escalated as far as it did.

    “while adults watched”…..that lone speaks volumes. What adult especially with child stands and watches another child who is not theirs get beat to death?!?! Sad to think but it was probably some adults egging them on and cheering.

      Yes sad and very real. I remember trying to break up a fight between 2 boys when I was 18, but one of the boys dads, told me “This how real N’s get it on!” SMH

        And if his son would have died he would as a father have to deal with his sons blood being on his hands. People have turned into monsters and they are giving birth to monsters.

      I live in Ohio and there was also a case a few years ago similar to this one only it involved the girls mother and grandmother. One of the girls involved in the fight was stabbed to death and the while the mother and grandmother kept the crowd back by macing and stabbing the those who tried to intervene. It ended with the grandmother dying in prison the mother got 8-10 years but is out early for time served (it took a few years before it went to court and the girl was sentenced to 25-30 years in prison. It was really sad it seems that all these fight videos all have the parents there either fighting with the kids or cheering them on smdh.

        I live in Shaker Hts. Not far from where this incident happened actually. And I remember the incident you mentioned. Its just so sad.
