    You just don’t mess with a classic. Steel Magnolia’s is a classic. I could give two rats a$$’s who was cast in the remake, there’s just no need for a remake this movie.

It is very silly and there are plenty of films/scripts by lesser known Blacks that can be made with these fine women . This film was an actual true story about the authors family. The sister dying, whom all were White women. If this wasn’t based on a true story I would probably think different. But since I don’t….. I wish this wasn’t happening.

    I”d like to see a remake of Claudine. Since Hollywood seems to be against originality then remake some lesser known films to a new generation.

      A favorite movie of mine. The soundtrack made it particularly special. Not sure who would be up to par on that, if they were to use new music. I’d like to hear Fantasia, Jill Scott or both sing in it, but not sure who could write new songs that would touch my heart the way those do.

    @Chocoball….so they should not work at all?! And we should not see this amazing movie made over with US to look at because you want an original story about ???!!! Exactly..crickets! Be happy they are making a moving and we get to see ourselves in a good representation as the actors show their art and give us great entertainment. Since when are we not happy to see ourselves on TV – did I miss something that we overcame and there were hundres of roles out there for our people portray just regular everday life stories and not crime and violence movies and nonsense, or there are an abundance of original TV movies being made with someone like me looking back out of the TV? Please advise when that was televised because I truly missed that update.

    I’m personally just disappointed that they’re remaking this movie. There are many poignant stories about Black women that these fantastic actresses could play in. This remake is just stupid.

      amen….i don’t understand black Hollywood’s obsession with being similar as white Hollywood….we was the bomb back in the 60s 70s 80s 90s because we was doing our own thing and had our own image…if we just stuck together we would’ve been on a whole other level today…i hope she sues them for half the project since there pretty much redoing the whole movie (it was her movie cant hate on that)

        Oooohhh weeee, please have a _/ ! Immediately!!! Are you serious? If we would have kept up the black spoitation movies this would be an original movie about a drug dealer and his 4 baby mommas and mother who is on crack and his father ran out on him and his mother when he was just a lil bitty baby! If they owe that is one thing but to say this should not have been made is sad. So I guess The Wizard of Oz, should have never been remade either huh! Can you not see how we bring who we are to these remakes?!
