Nicci Gilbert Blames Editing For Her R&B Diva ‘Tude, Producers Beg To Differ

Every time I watch TV One’s new hit show “R&B Divas,” cast member Nicci Gilbert seems to fanning the rumor flame that her attitude is going to find her without a spot on the show for the second season. Since that news hit the net, the producers of the show have shut down that claim saying Nicci isn’t going anywhere, but last night there was definitely some e-tension brewing that could suggest otherwise.

If you caught last night’s episode, you’d notice how Nicci again brought the funked up mood into the room when Keke Wyatt was talking about going to therapy. Nicci wasn’t to comfortable having that discussion over cocktails and she didn’t hesitate to let that be known — in her own “special” way. Shortly after, her publicist tried to do some damage control online, and that’s when the drama ensued:

To Nicci’s credit, there are a slew of tweets on her timeline with her acknowledging she may not always put her best foot forward on TV, like:

I.need my.followers who know ME to lift me in prayer and positibe energy…The DEVIL IS A LIAR!!!!!!#FB

I have to rememer that ITS NOT ABOUT ME.Its about my friends having this platform to share their stories and uplift people..Happy bout that

God knows my heart…

But the whole “it’s the editors fault” line is getting extra tired. Unfortunately, not tired enough for Nicci to keep running with it, as she wrote early this morning:

No apologies needed for responding to my portrayal if I didnt know Me I would react the same way. I find peace in knowing the TRUTH#FB

I guess that means we shouldn’t believe her divatude is what landed her a spot on a show appropriately titled “R&BDivas.” Hmmm. What do you think?

If you people don’t like what you see, DON’T LOOK AT THE SHOW! Nicci is co-executive producer & it was partly/mainly her idea. She ain’t going ANYWHERE!

  • SMH

I’m convinced the continuously upward trend of [fake-acting] Black females on “Reality” TV is `but another ploy to keep “Us” from achieving true Unity. Look at what’s below as comments! Sheesh!

    • TiredOfNicci

You are literally the bottom comment. There’s nothing “below” you.

  • ms lady

I think she agreed to join the show to showcase her new clothing line. She had no intentions on doing music. Do you notice she is always missing when all the ladies are together. I guess they need one person to be drama so the show wouldn’t be dull.

    • me

Yep. She never wants to participate or be a part of things. Monifah was right to get pissed about that. Seems like her, Keke and Selena spend the most time together.

  • Cam

Address the attitude, yes. But…can she address that upper lip too??

  • SSPRATT

I LOVE THE SHOW BUT NICCI HAS TO GO!!

    • Epiphany

yeah i agree………. kelly price would have been a better choice….

She is a producer….come on! An Executive producer, meaning she gets final say. Which says either she thought her behavior was cute and had no problem being seen in this light or The money was good! Don’t back track now! Syleena has a “sassy” attitude but never comes off unlikeable. Nicci this is on you, accept it and decide to put out better vibes on TV.

    • Somebody ova her

      Co-Executive!

  • miss thang

I liked the episode where Faith met with Kelly Price. I think she would be a great fit!

  • Jenn

Yea I can’t stand her! Loved Brownstone but who really knew her! LIke really, take a seat ma’am, it’s clearly Faith who is the ‘Diva’ ( a term I hate to use) but come on…sat down!

  • MonicaT

I think Nicci has to check her attitude at the door and be thankful she is in an opportunity to do some great music with 4 other fabulous women. She comes off as the angry, bitter women. If you know your heart isn’t into this project with the other ladies don’t waste their time. She is very DELUSIONAL! Yes you had a couple of hits with Brownstone and anything after that nobody remembers you! LOUD, CONTROLLING AND I KNOW EVERYTHING attitude comes off angry, bitter and insecure!

  • realadulttalk

She is another example of someone who should not have done reality tv. I like Brownstone…knew nothing about the members…I now highly dislike this woman. It’s hard to want to support someone who comes off as so unlikable. And it doesn’t seem like the rest of the cast is a big fan of hers either sometimes. I think she was thrown in for dramatics…but I don’t enjoy the kind she brings. I find myself saying “this bish” quite a bit when she’s on screen. TvOne you can swap her out for a gazillion other singers. What are the ladies from Zhané doing these days?

    • anon

I wouldn’t say that. I just watched all the episodes, again. I think she had an underlying gripe with one of her cast members and because one of the people heading the show is ‘of the same kind’, they edited the show so that that beef was left out; and this, and a likely power heist, is what ticked her off.

And she, likely, can’t speak on it right now for legal reasons. We’ll know, soon enough.

      I like Nicci…

Wow. so that IS the chick from Brownstone…. her head HUGE!!!!!

  • jumelle12

She’s extremely harsh, unnecessarily loud and a DELUSIONAL DIVA-Faith Evans has way more fame and fanfare than her, and you don’t dare see her conducting herself in that manner…Don’t get me wrong, I Love the show, and I’d love it more if she weren’t on there- replace her with one of the members of Jade- or Sunshine Anderson- Nicci is tacky- from her clothes to her words!!!

  • DoinMe

I remember hearing from back in the Brownstone days that Nicci was always the most difficult one to deal with. Some people can’t handle the truth or don’t want to believe the truth about how they really are or are perceived by others.

  • bkabbagej

All I know is she has special way of communicating that could be adjusted just a little. No one can portray or expose what’s not truly there unless you give them something to work with. She could use a little therapy to figure out why she comes across so rude, angry and misunderstood but she needs to do something! LOVE, love love the show and Monifa is simply an amazing talent and comes across as a wonderful person also…go girl!!!
