We all know the sly comment, the sideways look, and the all-around hatefulness that comes along with the execution of shade. Shade has been around for centuries (see “The Prince” by Machiavelli), but its presence in today’s culture largely due to the popularization of gay culture and the fact that we can now freely call it out where we see it, regardless of where it may reside. Now, everyone and their grandmother is ‘reading people for filth’ and pulling the shade-spade with all sorts of fervor and zest. Here’s a list of types of shade so that the next time you feel a certain creeping coolness come over you, you’ll know what it is.

Hair shade from what I like to call “Natural Hair Snobs(NHS). I wear my hair very short and relaxed but I was natural for two years and wore a huge honey blond fro. My hair is just an expression but when I went back to short relaxed all the “friends” in the natural community basically shunned me. Comments like “It’s not for everyone” or “it
s a process for the strong” ensued. I wish I had a huge tub of Mizani to throw on her like the PETA people do celebs. LMAO

  • Wow

Hollarin@…”smelling like struggle and Tangeray”. LOL!!! That church shade will cut ya!

Church shade. It’s not worth oing when 99% of people are just there to gossip. I’ll take my sermons through live stream.

LOL @ the Work Shade one. That was too funny, but so true! On another note, Madame Noire, can yall please do better with these pages. It is really annoying! Every post I go on, somebody is complaining about it! I love, love, love this site, but I hate having to click over a million pages to read something. There has to be a better way! Hear our cry, please! OMG!

    • SheBe

Not just the pages but the FREAKING ADS!!!!! OMG! I’m on my phone most of the time and the ads are killing me softly. The desktop version is worse.

get adblock. it’s a life saver. adblock is the only reason why i continue to come to certain blogs.

      • Natural83

LOL! Girl I feel you on that! I’m so over that Tide commercial with Betty White popping up! Love her to death, but I need that ad to G-O! I can see if it popped up here and there, but every single time you log on, it comes on the screen! And what makes it so bad is you have to let it play for a few seconds before you turn it off. OMG! LOL!

      • DeeDee

Yes that dang mini commercial/movie. .Please its a turn off

  • JaneDoe

Geesh, you’ll have got to do something about these many clicks of pages.. Its too much especially when 90% of your readers are suppose to be working

    • Natural83

SMH! I totally feel you! Just wrote a comment about the pages too. Its ridiculous. I hate to complain, but its really annoying!

    • chris

Work shade…when the co-work at the new job mean grills you in the parking lot, then asks your manager to help them on a last minute project that you’re not even remotely family air with. You’re neither familiar with the person, their work style nor their team (another team member was grilling you in the same way)…you’ve been doing quite well in your little corner, on your own project, impressing many…however, rush project turns up with some errors which aer pinned on you – the new person.

Now, I’m not looking so good to the boss. It was set up.
