Wyclef Speaks On Book Backlash: “I Am Not Disrespecting Lauryn In Any Sense”

September 20th, 2012 - By Brande Victorian

A lot of Lauryn Hill fans have a bit of a bone to pick with Wyclef now that they’ve gotten word of his new memoir and the details about the questionable paternity of the singer’s first son, Zion, included therein. Yesterday, Wendy Williams got Wyclef to have a little seat on her couch and explain why he was digging all this dirt up 12 years later, and when Wendy asked the former Fugees member if he gave L-Boogie a heads up about the book, he said this:

No I didn’t call Lauryn because Lauryn knows the story. There’s over a thousand people who know this story. What I wanted history to document was the truth.

When Lauryn did “The Miseducation there were a lot of Lauryn Hill fans saying, “Clef done broke Lauryn Hill’s heart.” After Wyclef Jean, Lauryn had five kids and my responsibility is to apologize for sins in my twenties, but we all have to move forward as adults. If you read the entire book, I am not disrespecting Lauryn in any form, in any sense.

Wyclef went on to say that the chances of the Fugees getting back together after all of this drama are slim to none, and also said he doesn’t have any contact with Lauryn Hill at all — just as his wife would have it. According to him, in his book he’s just telling his own truth.

Are you going to check out Wyclef’s “Purpose” memoir?

Wyclef & Lauryn need to chill. They were both wrong, and I really don’t understand why Wyclef would bring this up after all these years. He cheated and is now putting his wife back through this.

WAY TO GO, WYCLEF!! Lauryn Hill got exactly what she deserved—with the feds!!
I still will never forgot what she said in that song which contributed to divisions between
us men and women: “Girl, you better—watch out! Some guys are only about—that thing, that thing, that thing that thiiing”! Well, just goes to show—Some girls are only about that thing, that thing that thiiiing”! And fellas , Iam not talking about that thing swinging between your legs. I’m talking about that wallet in your pocket. YOUR BANK ACCOUNT!! So girls, next time you start JUMPING-THE-GUN on what we guys want, you certainly are NO ANGEL!

bitter much??? And sounds like you are pretty familiar with that song but perhaps didn’t really digest her lyrics. She does throw out that warning to us ladies but in the same verse points a critical finger at some of our intentions and in the very next verse calls out those men she is referring to..what you may have missed is the chorus clearly says “SOME” guys not the entire male species. The way you sounding off about you’d think you were “the Cristal by case men, still in they mother’s basement…” prototype.

if you know the song then you would know that she also said “guys you know you better watch out…” IJS

Don’t worry about it—Lauryn brought it on herself! Dividing men from women!!

No I’m not going to check out superhead 2.0′s book. This fool really claimed that the reason he cheated was because his dad died. I thought this book was about how he went from the little house in nhaiti to the mansion in america not about how he went from his wife’s panties to lauryn’s to his managers.

      *haiti

He should have kept that to himself, bringing this out now after all these years is for publicity only, gtfoh wyclef.

This is apart of the stupidity of men so you can’t forgive your mistress for lying about the paternity of her baby but expected his wife to forgive him for possibly getting his mistress pregnant. o_O Please just stop because you sound dumb as hell right now.

      AMEN

    • http://www.facebook.com/elijah.gatewood.54 Elijah Gatewood

Hell no!! There is too much forgiveness in this world already. Reasons why the world is sooooo messed up!! It’s disrespectful taking people’s kindness for granted!

You were both wrong you then discussed the affair you had with another woman. Stop talking about your cheating ways. And please stop saying everything you have done wrong is because your father passed away. You cheated on your wife own it and hopefully become a better person from it. Your wife must be a saint if I even thought my man got another woman pregnant that is a automatic deal breaker.
