The Obama-Carter Love Affair Continues: President Says Beyonce Couldn’t Be A Better Role Model For His Girls

If you raised $4 million for the president in one night, he’d probably say that about you too. Last night, Beyonce and Jay-Z held the much talked about re-election fundraiser for Barack Obama at Jay’s 40/40 club in NYC. The $40,000 per person exclusive event maxed out at it’s 100-person limit making the effort a success by all accounts.

Speaking before the crowd, Beyonce said:

“I can’t tell you how proud we are to host tonight’s event with President Obama. We believe in his vision.”

Showing that he shares the same admiration for Bey as his wife, Michelle, when Barack Obama addressed the audience, he remarked:

Let me just begin by saying to Jay and Bey, thank you so much for your friendship. We are so grateful. Michelle and Malia and Sasha are mad at me because they are not here. That doesn’t usually happen. Usually they’re like, we’re glad you’re going — we don’t need to go. But every time they get a chance to see these two they are thrilled, partly because they are just both so generous, particularly to my kids. And Malia and Sasha just love both of them.

Beyoncé couldn’t be a better role model for our daughters because she carries herself with such class and poise and has so much talent. And Jay-Z now knows what my life is like. We both have daughters, and our wives are more popular than we are. So we’ve got a little bond there. It’s hard, but it’s okay. It’s okay.

The funny thing is I think the President is telling the truth, although it’s hard who’s the more favored Obama when grown men are so excited to see the President, they pick him up and swing him around in a bar like he’s a little kid. Even though the President’s favorite ladies couldn’t attend the fundraiser last night, I’m sure there will be plenty of other opportunities for them to hang out with auntie Bey Bey and uncle Jay.

Here are a couple Instagram pics of Bey from last night:

She’s not a horrible human being, she is a very talented artist. I just personally wouldn’t want my daughters looking up to Beyonce as a role model, i’ll leave it at that.

  • Shay

Jay-Z was a drug dealer how long ago? I don’t understand why people still that up. Beyonce’ is a role model because she uses her celebrity to support charitable causes (especially for women and children). What’s even more important is how Jay and Bey have decided to financially support our president so he can have a fair chance. How many of us have even dug in our pockets for $5? There are millionaires and billionaires financially backing Romney, so why is there an issue when it’s done for Obama? People need to really open their eyes when it comes to this election.

Thats not what Belafonte said the other day….

        Belafonte, like you, is misinformed.

Beyonce is married, a mother, singer and business woman. Black women need to celebrate each other and not hate. We are treated with no respect and have got to stop turning on each other. beyonce has not done anything to anyone to get so much hate.

    • Just saying!!

I feel what you’re saying, and I agree that black people should support each other. But I think part of the reason she received so much backlash is because for one she gets more credit than she deserves (cuz there are few options for us to choose from) and she isn’t very sincere. I used to be a huge fan, but now everything she does seems like one bit publicity stunt. It gets annoying after a while….(plus she get away with a lot…she is able to maintain the innocent good girl image even though she is far from that on her stage. Sorry…wouldn’t let my daughters listen to “Videophone”! Lol) there are more examples of success that need to be celebrated, that require people to actually make it in the world without simply singing on stage for a living. It’s far from what any of us would consider real work personally (and I am also a professional singer).

touche’…..If some1 was giving me a $4_mil cheque, I would flatter them so hard, so I can keep getting more…They could do no wrong in my eyes, even if they were ratchet ppl undercover…

  • Yokessm

Anybody that calls her a role model, doesn’t deserve my respect.

    • Victoria

I think Beyonce is a good role model depending how you look at it. Yes, she sells s*x on stage and in her videos but she’s good in a lot of other ways. No drugs, no s*x tape, no jail, no rehab. She doesn’t get in fights with people. She’s not out there doing crazy things. There are singers out there doing worse. And despite what people say about her and throw her way, she still has herself together.

I’m glad they raised $4 mil for the Prez and she looks beautiful in that dress.

    • JustSayin

I think people are getting “entertainer” and “role model” confused. She is an entertainer. She is a nice model for Obama’s daughters in reference to branding yourself and maintaining a positive light in public. But; that is as far as it goes. She does not regularly contribute to the community, she did not build herself from the ground up (her father, producers, husband, etc does that) and she does help individuals gain their own success. As Michelle Obama points out, “You do not close the door behind you, you reach back and help others to succeed.” Now unless we are counting Destiny’s Child, she has not invested her efforts into someone else. And; that is okay that she is that way. She is making her money and doing it in a positive light. I think this relationship is a little random. Because; the President of the United States is using this relationship to gain Hip Hop & R&B voters. Those two are the perfect candidates. It’s not like Obama can just kick it with Kanye & Kim or MiMi & Stevie J. Jay Z isn’t the best role model for obvious reasons and neither is Beyonce. But they are great publicity and awesome entertainers who make their money. It is unfortunate that they retain a lot of their money and do not constantly give to charity but… its their money.

      • Yokessm

I’m sorry no matter how you slice it, I don’t want my daughters spreading their legs wide open in the name of “performing” , to each it’s own, I can’t deal.

  • TRUTH IS

Here we go again (rolling eyes)….a 1%-er hanging with another 1%-er….really, not Michelle or Michelle’s mom…but Be-Desperate?!? I guess ex-drug dealer Jay-Z would have been a perfect e.g. if he had a son…the decline continues.

    • Guest

Here we go again(rolling eyes) typical hater spewing hate. Key word here EX drug dealer. What rapper hasn’t sold drugs? Jay transformed his life around and became a successful business man. Get over yourself and step away from the keyboard. Your head is going to explode.

    • Guest

Jay Z hasn’t sold drugs in 20 years so you need to get over that.

  • toasty

It’s obvious they wrote out the cheque for 4 million and filled the place up with journalists. You won’t see any pics of Obama ’cause he’s too embarrassed, but he just couldn’t turn down the dough. Smh

    • Amy

I’m guessing you know that because you had the oppportunity to attend? Not! Stop being a hater, what bey and jay did for OUR president was beautiful.

    • Anon

Show me pictures of Obama at his other high profile, celebrity laden fundraisers….. I’ll wait. You obviously know nothing about campaigning. In this year the President has to show that he understands the “average Joe” problems. Being pictured with tons of celebrities handing over million dollar checks will not help support that image.

    • Africanpride

Carters, another rich black couple, they have to associate with another successful black couple who happen to be the president and first lady. If you notice, they are also friends with the Smiths. Rich hang with rich. Okay, I’m not too fond of Bey but Bey being a role model is the fact that she’s been with the same guy for these many years, you never hear any scandal stories and she seems nice. No matter how much I think Bey is putting on an image and tries to be perfect, she’s playing the sweet good girl role well. I’m glad, First lady stopped publicly idolizing her though. George clooney had a fundraising for Obama, he didn’t show up. He’s the president, he will not show up to just any kind of event. Trust me, every politician have people writing checks for them. Republicans are notorious for that too, so nothing new that Obama is doing. Obama 2012

    • Victoria

You cannot write a $4 million check for a presidential candidate. The limit is $2,500. Learn something about the presidential campaign/fundraising before you write your misinformed comment. There are pics of this event all over the internet and the President himself tweeted a pic of him with the Carters.

Is the fact that she doesn’t have a high school diploma or college degree at all relevant?

    • SMHgurl24

Education is nothing more then a tool. If you don’t use that tool, your no better off then someone who doesn’t have it. This is nothing but sad propaganda by these clowns to get votes and attention. Hell why can’t we have candidates who won’t be bought for a little couch change??!

      • Shay

The sad reality is that you need money to run a successful campaign. If you compare the sides and what they earn from donors, and who those donors are, it can be a little unsettling. I ran for a local school board and still needed money for signs, ads, etc.

    • Anon

The purpose of education is to advance you into a career unless you’re a scholar just for scholarship sake. Beyonce had no need to get an education as she used her talents to create her success…. So yes, her not having a formal education in this instance in irrelevant. However, the fact that she decided to show her support and use her influence to fundraise for a presidential candidate is wholely relevant.

    • Brycecakesmom

This! ^^^^^ – I was thinking the same thing….how is she a role model to your daughters? I hope they want to grow up and get an education so just in case they can’t be the next Beyonce, they had that diploma and degree…

    • Nope

You go to school to get a job. Beyonce has that.

    • DLB

Beyonce doesn’t have a high school diploma? She wasn’t home schooled, GED, etc.? I don’t keep up with her so I don’t know too much about her.
