So Tragic: Man Who Murdered Niecy Nash’s Brother Stabs Wife To Death

Convicted killer Robert Lee Heard is certainly making the case for life sentences. The 35-year-old Louisiana man who killed the brother of actress Niecy Nash nearly 20 years ago and was convicted of attempted murder sometime thereafter, struck again this weekend when he stabbed his wife to death. TMZ broke down the story, reporting:

Robert Lee Heard was arrested Saturday in Shreveport, LA for allegedly stabbing and killing his 35-year-old wife Demetra Doyle Heard.

In 1993 a 16-year-old Heard was convicted of shooting and killing Nash’s brother, Michael Ensley, at a Reseda, CA high school. He was committed to a juvenile corrections facility until 2002.

Then in 2003, he was convicted of attempted first-degree murder and sent to prison … but was released in 2011. That is until this weekend … when police found his wife stabbed to death.

Nash tells TMZ … “No family should have to endure the loss of a loved one at the hands of a previously convicted violent criminal.”

Nash added,”I am deeply saddened to hear that the man who murdered my brother, Michael Ensley, has been charged with murder again.”

And Nash went on … saying “I grieve for every family who has been victimized by this heinous individual.  My prayers and love go out to the family of Demetra Doyle Heard during this trying time.”

What’s even more twisted about this story, is according to KLFY News, the home where the stabbing occurred is the same house where another murderer, Gerald Bellard, beat Delores Wilkes to death just 18 months prior in March 2011. The murders are unrelated but an eerie coincidence for those in the neighborhood, like Anna Belle Godfrey, who lived next to the Heards.

“It just didn’t seem likely it would come to this,” she told the news station. “They was always together, riding around, seemed happy, you know?”

I knew Michael and was there in the vicinity when he was murdered… I can see this guy never rehabilitated, so, I know its not right to wish bad but in this case, in memory of my classmate Michael, He deserves what only American Justice can give him. I cant judge because my friend J.C. says its not right… but he needed this….

      They need to kill him

He was committed to a juvenile facility after murdering Michael…juvenile records are usually sealed and don’t usually follow you the same way an adult prison record would. This article doesn’t present us with the facts on the attempted murder…I just don’t think we should be blaming the victim for what she may or may not have known. Yes, it is a lesson to really know who you are marrying but since we have no idea what she knew or didn’t know, let’s all just say God bless and rest in peace.

First off this is so sad. my thoughts and prayers are with the family.
What is wrong with the system? How do you let a person convicted of murder out of prison? He was gonna do the same thing again….

  • Magee

He needs to receive the death penalty and die or else he will kill again.

  • Adrina

He should still be in jail for killing Michael. And who would dat, let alone marry a man who was in prison for murder? Smh…no one should want a man that bad. RIP Demetra

There are certain things you simply don’t do because they’re not prudent. You don’t drive 85 miles an hour with your eyes closed; it’s very dangerous and more stupid. You don’t eat the mac & cheese at the work potluck; you can’t just eat ANYONE’S mac & cheese — geez. Aaaaaaand, YOU DON’T DATE AND MARRY GUYS WHO HAVE KILLED AND/OR ATTEMPTED TO KILL ANOTHER HUMAN BEING — TWICE; chances are they may kill or attempt to kill you, too!!! SMH

  • NicPal

My prayers go out to both families at this time. I like Niecy I think she has a beautiful personality. May God bless them all is my prayer:)

ladies, set some dam* standards…the wrong man is simply in the way, preventing the right man to come into your life…you know he’s the wrong guy when he’s been convicted of murder! i wonder if she has kids?

Unfortunately these women don’t know the men have an abusive history.Or if they have spent time in jail. These men hide it like a deep dark secret. Women may not know unless there are warning signs.

  • realadulttalk

This is ridiculous!! Obviously this man does not have a conscience and should never have been released the first time. Now with my own craziness…I’m way into the paranormal and it sounds like this house might have some “activity”.

  • Gimmeabreak78

One of the problems is that prisons are just so overcrowded these days that parole boards are forced to make terrible decisions like “do we parole the child rapist or the murderer?” to make room for the next batch of child rapists and murderers. The reality is that over 2/3 of people sentenced to prison for violent crimes will be released back into society at some point because we simply don’t have the resources to lock them up indefinitely. My condolences to murdered woman’s family. They must be absolutely devastaed.

  • Ashe

He does not need to come back out of prison. Two murders and an attempted murder?! If he is released he’s going to do it again! My heart goes out to the wife’s family and anyone who has encountered that man.

    • SMHgurl24

Honestly how does the system fail us this badly?! We have people going to jail over a little weed and murders taking a tap on the wrist..

  • Kitsy

    This is so horrible.

Side Note: When are women going to learn to leave violent men alone? I would never even consider dating a man with prior arrests or convictions for a violent crime, much less murder??? There is a place for these individuals – it’s called prison, not your bed!

    • NicPal

Kitsy Lord Jesus you ain’t never lied. That last statement sums it up in a nutshell “its called prison, not you bed”! Please someone use this as an advertisement for domestic violence!!!!!

    • Yvette

Exactly! Newly convicted murderer Drew Peterson is another man who somehow kept on getting married over and over again eventhough he had a history of domestic violence in his previous relationships. He was convicted of killing his 2nd wife. His 3rd wife is STILL missing. SMDH at the women who fall for these violent dudes whom they know are controlling or whatever their “trigger” is. I so long for these type of women to love themselves enough to know that they deserve better. How many woman have to die in order for them to “get it”.

So a convicted murderer attempts to kill someone 2 years after he’s released and y’all don’t keep his behind in jail? Wtf
