If you want to be in the music industry, you have to know that you can be hot one day and ice cold the next. Fans are fickle and what they once liked from an artist can now be considered corny.  All of these artists are hoping their fans can push them back to top slots on the charts and make them household names again.  I don’t know if it’ll happen but you be the judge!

No, stop coming back. Damn is new talent and art that terrible that we want repeats? Let someone else get some air.

How dare you put Alicia on here? LOL….I don’t care about her personal life, but this woman’s past album was great for me. So many songs I loved. Whatever she releases I’ll buy, Love her!

  • Chanda

With the exception of Alicia Keys, it’s a wrap for the other artists mentioned. They’ll have to constantly keep up with Bey, Rihanna and Nicki manaj plus they don’t even take enough risks with their music and videos and the Dollar Tree weaves ain’t the business. They’re too comfortable and that won’t get you too far in the business. Keys has her own little niche so nobody has to worry about her. TI probably could care less (about a comeback). No one mentioned Kelis. She’s a one hit wonder per album but she’s cool.

Alicia’s new song “Girl on Fire” is hawt. She got a shot at getting a #1.

I’m sure its possible for these artists to make a comeback. I agree about Mariah Carey she made it work with TEOM back in 2004 that is still a talked about album to this day. Alicia Keys I love her music but I agree the last album Elements of Freedom I think I only listened to it 2 times maybe. I love her very first one that is a classic. Then other 2 after that are amazing.
Brandy I hope she can come back if Monica can do it Brandy can.

I’m rooting for T.I., Brandy, and Alicia in particular. I think that she (Alicia) surprised a lot of people by doing a duet with Nicki Minaj, and not in a good way. I think that the main problem is that she, along with the others, are trying to keep up with the modern industry, which relies more on gimmicks than on talent. I think that if everyone would go back to their roots, to what made people so fascinated by them in the first place, they might fare a little better.

Besides Alicia Keys, I don’t think any of the artists on this list will ever reach the top like they did before.

Sad but true. Ciara, Ashanti, and Brandy may have decent, slow-climbing singles, but overall, it’s a wrap on their musical careers. I do not foresee an album from any of them having more than 4 acceptable tracks. –just my opinion–

I love me some Ashanti but not as a singer. Babygirl needs to go the Mel B route and become some kind of full time correspondent that sings as a hobby on the side and she should write songs for others. That way we can look at her (shes gorge) and see what seems like a great personality and all of that (song writing) talent won’t be wasted.

T.I. might get it together but I agree, right now he is a reality star.

Ciara should try her hand a choreography or a instructional dance video franchise/ fitness avenue. The most admirable thing about her is her body and her ability to move it. Heck She can even to the soundtrack for it if it makes her happy.

Brandy is my girl. Imma always root for her. ALWAYS. Lol.

  • Ay

I was so gonna get you about Alicia but I guess you have a point lol she”ll do decent numbers as usual but in order for her to get that top spot again she has to get negroes back on her side, she needs a good soulful urban record like “You don’t know my name”.
Brandy has everyone rooting for her but I don’t see her breaking mainstream. She’s seen as a 90′s artist, not sure what she can do to change that.
TI is officially a reality star.
    Nelly’s time has been up.
50 is soooo 2003, he’s rich as heck but no one cares.
Ciara, I know she’s got LA Reid behind her but i’m still not convinced………….

Brandy made meaningful songs and she’s trying to keep up with a watered down industry that only allows a few artist to make meaningful music. Alicia Keys is one of those artist who’s been able to be successful and make meaningful songs(her and John Legend). I think she needs to get back to her basics. She’s too talented of an artist/songwriter/producer not to figure it out.
Ashanti has a appealing personality. She’s not the best singer but there’s something about her that keeps her relevant.

This is a pretty accurate list. Of course, they’re a few other artists that belong on there as well.

The sad part is that they’re no great new artists that can replace them. If you haven’t noticed both music and movies have lost their creative edges. All of these “advancements” that society has made and we have lost our creativity and inspiration. Sad times……

  • kaye

add jill scott to the list. her last album seemed like a rush job akin to eddie murphy’s dr. doolittle or any other work product to fulfill a contract. that album was a waste of money and time.

T.I and Nelly will always hab mi hart nd mi seol” *joselIne voice*

I actually love the new songs that both Ciara and Ashanti have released. I count no one out, because Mariah Carey is the comeback kid of all time. Yes her vocals are better than the other mentioned artists, but after Glitter, who was looking for her? And Brandy can pipe. Alicia……oh Alicia. I think she is one of those people who will always sell, and sometime during her braids days, she was my favorite singer, but her voice isn’t what it used to be and she has a habit of singing songs that do not fit her voice.

    • iReezy

So true, MC is the ultimate comeback kid…The Emancipation of Mimi was and still is greatness. BUT she’s a true vocalist (which none of these women are) and she worked with top notch producers (which is what all of these women need).

      • Chassie

I still blast that album, lol. And OK, Ciara and Ashanti aren’t the best vocalists, but Brandy can pipe. Though I don’t think Ciara has the best voice, I love the sound of her voice, particularly in her new song. I’ve always liked Ashanti but baby girl lacks stage presence. I’m going to root for them because I think they are working a lot harder than some of the people sitting in the number one spot right now and because I don’t always want a ballad, sometimes I just have to play an old Ciara CD because no one is really making me want to dance the way Ciara always will. Ciara said it herself that her team isn’t supporting her, I think it’s time to take that Kelly Rowland route and seek new management.
