Real Lawsuits Of Atlanta: Kim Zolciak’s Mother Files Petition To See Grandchildren

Apparently reality shows aren’t just out here destroying marriages, they’re wreaking havoc on mother daughter relationships too.

Real Housewives of Atlanta Kim Zolciak’s mother is suing for visitation rights after Kim allegedly banned her from seeing her four grandkids. According to Babble.com:

Kim’s mother Karen has filed a petition in Georgia to see her grandchildren (Brielle, 15, and Arianna, 9) as apparently she hasn’t been seeing much of them since Kim’s husband Kroy Biermann has joined their lives.

The grandma claims that she “spent time with the girls on a regular basis since they were born,” and says the sisters “have spent a lot of time at our house cooking, baking, doing crafts, having sleepovers, playing with our dogs, making hot fudge sundaes, eating ‘poppy’ burgers.”

Karen says that “before Kroy [Biermann, Kim's husband since November 2011] came into Kim’s life, we spent a Christmas in the Bahamas with them,” and says Ariana and Brielle “live such a crappy, abnormal life being on TV—they need a normal haven to relax and unwind and just be kids.”

She adds that the children “usually don’t want to leave when they come over because it’s so calm and comfortable at our house,” but that Kim “won’t let them come over.”

Her petition also includes her two grandsons, one of which is the two-week old that she hasn’t met yet.

If you remember Kim’s mother from “Don’t Be Tardy for the Wedding” then you may think she is crazy. But Karen says that Bravo only painted her that way because they “needed drama”.

Atlanta Journal-Constitution says she wrote in the lawsuit:

They had me taken out of their wedding reception by the Roswell police. My sister Leslie & I used the bathroom in their house instead of the Porta Potty, even though family members had been allowed to use the indoor bathroom all night until then. Kim & Kroy haven’t spoken to us since then.

A close source told AJC that Karen did take care of Brielle and Ariana in their younger years when Kim was a stripper and living with her. (Kim claims she was never a stripper, she was a waitress at a strip club.)

Still, it’s one thing to be skeptical of people you’ve met since getting money and fame, but who treats their own mother this way? It’s just a reality show and sorry country song. Why is she being such a diva?

Her mom probably doesn’t have a case, but with Kim’s relationship history, it’s only a matter of time before she and Kroy call it quits and then she’ll be back to asking her mom to babysit.

    Kim’s no prize, but her mother’s a nutcase, and I wouldn’t let her anywhere near my children if it were me. I understand her not wanting to use the porta potty but she blew it up into a giant screaming match and told Kroy to “f off” in his own house, woke up her grandson and then ignored him when he started crying. Not much of a grandmother in my book.

    Kim was out of pocket how she did her own mother at her wedding and she is right to file for grandparents rights. It’s sad when families break up and on national t.v.

        Lol, I’ve never seen her posts (kitsy) before although I share her sentiment on ALissa’s writing. I come to MN because it is a take on the world from a perspective that I share, so I’m usually not looking for the writers to down people unnecessarily or throw shade for no reason.

    Kim has always been extra. Now that she has achieved some fame she is REALLY EXTRA…lol! I can understand her not needing her mom’s help as much as she used to because of Kroy, but not letting her own mother see her kids? That is not right at all. Now, the few episodes that I saw of her spin-off show I did see her mom acting a little off cuff but nothing that would constitute keeping her from the kids. I also saw how Kim talked to her mother and it was almost always in a disrespectful and dismissive manner. Kim needs to get a grip and come down off that high horse because if not she will get pushed off of it. I am a true believer in karma and one day her little mini-me Brielle will be speaking to her and acting in the exact same way because clearly there are no boundaries between the women in that family. It seems as though they do and say whatever in front of each other.

    Why are you throwing shade and saying they’ll break up soon because we know Kim…..unless we mean Kardashian I think that’s a little unfair. Publicly I only know of one other relationship she had and that little thing with the girl DJ (wtf)…..but not enough to throw salt on her marriage. Alissa I had so much hope that this article would not be a “why other people are beneath me article.” #disappointed

    The kids are older, maybe they don’t want to hang out w/ grandma anymore. One of them is 15. They have a father figure now. grandma stepped in b/c there wasn’t a father in the picture to help Kim out before. But now Kroy is there to help w/ the kids, so there isn’t much need for grandma to watch the kids. & why are you saying they’ll break up soon? Damn, can’t a person learn from their past relationship mistakes & have a successful one? lol. I don’t think grandma have a lawsuit. Those are Kims kids. I wonder how grandpa feels. On the show, him & Kim seemed close & kind of seemed embarrassed about his wifes antics.
