It’s About Time You Sit Down Now! Joan Rivers Shares Her Thoughts on Rihanna’s Oprah Interview

August 24th, 2012 - By Veronica Wells

Joan always has something to say and sometimes it’s funny; but as of late, her comments are increasingly more and more ridiculous. Remember when she called the First Lady, “Blackie O”? Well, now she’s turned her sights to another black woman in the spotlight. This time it’s Rihanna. Usually Joan comments on superficial things like fashion; but this time she decided to take a stab at Rihanna and Chris Brown’s domestic violence incident.

Here’s what she had to say:

You know Thug Life wasn’t going to let that one slide. She had something for Joan in this reply.

“@Joan_Rivers wow u really do get slow when you’re old huh?”

Later she added:

“Slap on some diapers.”

The first part has since been deleted but Rihanna, who has been tweeting devotional passages recently, posted this later.

If I do say so myself, it would appear that the Queen of Clapback is trying to do better. I can dig that because Joan was waaaay out of pocket. I too would have had a retort; and I don’t know if I would have deleted it either. Joking about fashion is all well and good but joking with a domestic violence victim that you’re going to do the same to slap is not only immature and devoid of humor, it’s cruel. It’s time somebody pull Joan to the side, preferably her daughter, and tell her she needs to sit it down.

Joan Rivers talks crap about everyone (lol), its not racial, she gives it to everyone, and Rhi is my boo, I love her courage to just tell the truth, articles are becoming rather lame!

  • jackieOsassin

she’s the one who flung the doors of personal opinion open when she brought up a three-year-old incident. one day she says she wants to “move past it”, then the next she’s on oprah talking openly about it. what else did she think oprah was going to bring up, her influentially important role in music? make up your mind.

Quick wit can be hard to stifle ( for both Rih and Joan). But when you are constantly in the media giving interviews, and being addicted to social media, this is what happens. Rih, respect your elders. Joan, respect the young and underdeveloped.

Rihanna can not have it both ways. She obviously liked being beaten by Chris Brown and shamelessly confesses her love for him to the world. Rihanna’s misdirected anger at Joan Rivers should have went to Chris Brown. But stupid is as stupid does.

    • Pivyque

I don’t think she liked the beating. She loves him based off the connection they had before that happened. She should be angry with Joan for making such a bold statement. Just because you are “supposed” to feel a certain way doesn’t mean you will. For someone to make light of this serious issue is sad.

  • Trisha_B

So to change someone’s mind who was abused is to abuse them? o_O Joan stop. That joke wasn’t funny. Then had the nerve to ask Rihanna to come on the fashion Police lol

  • Staci B

Seriously, Riri needs help. I’m sorry if this will anger her friends but she needs to get counselling. How are you in love with someone who beat you black & blue? Get some serious help, love!

  • NicPal

Good call RiRi thank God he is showing you some wisdom. I’m seriously waiting for Joan to sit in front of the cameras at Fashion Police and her whole face just falls off onto the floor while the camera’s is running. DANG now that would be the best Fashion Police ever.

Joan Rivers is funny as hell, always has been… C’mon, Blackie O is funny! She is the original envelope pushing mainstream female comedienne and she’s not being racist, just edgy and funny as she has been for decades.
Ri Ri needs to think about it… while you’re improving what comes out of your mouth, you need to be doing something about the influences over your life as well! Ike 2.0 ain’t the business.

  • Nina

I think it’s funny! Somebody needed to say it!

  • eestoomuch@aol.com

joan gets a big OLD HOE SADDOWN from me. she is a bitter old hag who probably pushed her husband to suicide!

  • Hello_Kitty81

Joan Rivers is actually the Crypt Keeper with skin on it’s face! She needs to sit her old fossil butt down because no one cares what she thinks!

    • reese

She looks like a band aid with a mouth and bad dye job

    • NicPal

The truth GOD knows AMEN!!! I couldn’t of said it better myself. I was thinking a female Skeletor but well said. LOL!

  • Shirl

Who cares..Joan Rivers only has about 6 months left anyway. I mean isn’t she like in her 90s?

  • lisygirl

I definitely see some signs of maturity in risk. The Oprah interview and her post on controlling your tongue show a girl morphing into a woman. I like it. I’m eager to see what a grown up Rihanna has to offer the world

    • lisygirl

      *riri

  • mochaaa

That’s right rih. Joan Isn’t funny period. Put that old woman in her place

    • keesha

Actually Joan Rivers is usually hilarious, but I agree that she was definitely out of line for that comment.
