"Single Ladies"

Get ready for another season of attractive men, bad story lines and even worse acting because the surprisingly popular VH1 show “Single Ladies” was just renewed for a third season.

VH1 blog announced today that show averaged 3.2 million viewers per night so “there’s no way” they weren’t bringing it back for more.

According to the press release, the show starring LisaRaye McCoy (Keisha), Denise Vasi (Raquel) and Charity Shea (April) as three best friends navigating the dating world in Atlanta continues to be basic cable’s #1 ad-supported regularly scheduled scripted show among women 18-49 over the course of the summer. Of course that could easily be explained by the fact that besides the Olympics, there is literally nothing else on television. However, Single Ladies has real fans. Including, the top people at VH1.

Jeff Olde, Executive Vice President of Original Programming and Production praised the show saying:

“Our viewers’ love affair with ‘Single Ladies’ got even bigger this year, growing significantly from its successful first season and dominating its timeslot on basic cable. We’re extremely happy that we’ll be able to give the audience another great season of the series and its honest, current take on love, dating and female friendship.”

Single Ladies strategically comes on directly after the inexplicably popular reality show “Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta”. For VH1, Monday nights are all about shoddy relationships and overall fantastical lives that are presented as the norm and viewers are loving it.

Unlike the first season, this season of Single Ladies left the drama to the script so all of the main characters are coming back next season. (Sorry Stacey Dash/rest in television peace Val.) So if you’re rooting for Reggie & April or hoping Raquel gets back with Antonio or wondering if Keshia will get back with Malcolm, you have a few months to speculate. Season three will premiere sometime in 2013.

Are you excited to hear the show is coming back?

  • shame on you

HAHAHAHA….it’s not reality tv thank you…god yes it’s bad acting…and Lisa is doing most of it…it’s a chance to see women and dating point of view,,,and some of the most finnnest men money can by…..

  • AfricanBambi

A show about women who find a different man every episode, surprisingly no one calls them that one name i’m looking for though…bad acting indeed, I’ll pass.

  • realadulttalk

I watched the 1st season but not this one. And the comments below are not helping me to know if I should watch!! But I did like the chemistry of the original cast (although no one seemed to like Stacy off-camera).

  • CarlaKah

    Yes I am excited

  • gracie

I have a love affair with this show and my bf is not happy!

    pardon the typos…

i like single ladies but am perplexed as to why shows created by/geared
towards black people always have to have one white “best friend” who has
a major role – this never happens in white created shows that are
geared towards white people – not a single black best friend with a
major role in sex and the city, or on HBO’s Girls – not one. The few
times you do have a black person repped it’s usually a black man, or an
extremely negatively sterotyped black woman , who gets no love, no play,
no respect and defininitely is no leading role. i don’t get it. there is no reason that charity shea a.k.a. april should be one
of the leading characters with a major storyline on that show. once all
is equal and we see more girlfriend-type shows with black women getting
the same treatment in majority-white chick flicks, then i’ll stop
caring. but until then, i don’t think black people should water down and
ruin good shows with the fake white girlfriend (when most of them (and
us) are not interested in hanging together anyway).

    • gracie

Blah blah blah……its always about color, huh?

      • Yah

Unfortunately, it is. Isn’t it obvious? Again, take a good look at “Sex and the City” and “Girls” and most every other show and tell me I’m not right. Cowardice gets you nowhere. Don’t be afraid to admit that there is blatant racism in this industry. Sorry.

  • Tracey Urban

I like the show but I’m tired of new girl banging everyone. Every time the show comes on she’s getting it from someone and they haven’t reached the season finale..

  • baddvixentype

i dont get it. ive seen the show its horrible. horrible acting smh the april character was the reason i watched becasue she was in another show i liked, she’s ok but the show is horiible, i cant sit thur an entire episode without wondering ” is something else on?” Someone please tell me why this is such a good show or what keeps you watching?

  • Realgirl

This show has become a guilty pleasure…lol The acting sucks but I just can’t stay away *in my Envogue voice*

I love the show, but I would be even more excited if they would all take acting classes. Being cute aint gone cut it for a third season.

Yes I will definitely be watching I need to know who the stalker is:))-

    • http://twitter.com/macamerica83 Nya Jacobsen

Im going to take a predictable guess due to the bad writing and say Malcolm’s girlfriend. Sorry if thats a spoiler, but is it really?

      • gracie

        Yeah I think so too:-)

  • dontdoit

Lol at LisaRaye’s facial expressions fake as Nene’s teeth! OMG! Lol!!!

  • Ivy dawn

Well like I said this show is for the single ladies and the ones who are attached to the ‘wring one ‘

  • DoinMe

I stopped watching this show because it became extremely boring this season. The story lines are not good and I’m upset we won’t be able to see how the Jerry/Val relationship would have played out.

  • dontdoit

Why do they insist on making LisaRaye say words she cannot pronounces?

    • dontdoit

Why did they make Macolm into a wimp?

  • dontdoit

This show is soooooooo terrible!!!! Unrealistic. These chicks have new boyfriends every day and what do they do besides date? When do they work? Horrible!_!

  • JJ

i can’t take the acting on this show. its horrible.

    Whats this show about again?!?!?!?!

  • Josh

I love Love single ladies!!!!! Can’t wait to see it……

  • WhoMe

This is my show! The guys are fine and the featured songs are good.

    • Delores

That’s why you watch? What about acting and story line? LOL

  • BeeCee

I am curious, are they going to write April’s character down to recurring? Will Morgan come back? I wish their age range for the friendships were believable. When the character Val was on the show it was believable because she and LisaRaye are about the same age (although they were portraying much younger), but this group not so believable. IJS

    • DoinMe

I agree. Stacy with the other 2 ladies made it believable and gave it a “grown woman” factor. Now, LisaRaye looks like the old auntie still trying to find a man.

  • Jenn

I can’t even watch this show with the TV on mute…the commercials are bad! I’m out on this one ladies sorry!

    • freebee33

Same here, something about this show really irks me lol

  • http://twitter.com/MsRedboneBrite Tee Elyse

I don’t think the storylines are bad, it’s just the execution

  • Treacle234

This season has been going great so far, I can’t wait to find out who is Keisha’s stalker. Hopefully, in the new season April gets a new hairstyle or a better wig.

    • Yvette

I agree with you. I love the show and I would like to see the character of Morgan get more screen time because she is hilarious and down to earth.

    • keesha

The best actor on the show is the lady who plays April.
