Before Tyler Perry went mainstream, becoming the first black man to own his own studio, he was a very popular playwright in the black community. People came in droves to see his plays, you couldn’t pass a bootlegger who didn’t have one of his DVDs and slowly but surely black folk were starting to adopt Madea’s vernacular. (Hell-er!) Then he hit the big screen with his first feature film, Diary of a Mad Black Woman. Coming out the mixed reviews, the film featured some decent actors, including Kimberly Elise, Steve Harris and the legendary Cicely Tyson. Maybe you’re more familiar than a little bit with this film, but we bet you don’t know the secrets behind this film. Check them out.

I really liked it and became a fan of his as a result. There was nothing like it out there at the time.

  • Is It 5:00 Yet?

I remember when this movie came out…everybody was excited to see it because we were all a fan of the plays.

  • Complicated

FOX decided against filming it?! Say it ain’t so! *(O_O)* I am more surprised that he pitched it to them. That’s like asking Romney to release his tax information… #pointless

I appreciate the different messages Tyler Perry put in his movies and admire the success he is having as a media mogul/actor/director/producer however lately the movies he has made have been pretty stale…..I enjoyed “Diary Of A Mad Black Woman.”

I took me a minute to get into this movie and when I first watched all the way through, it isn’t that bad. Tyler Perry movies are pretty good, some of them you can guess how they will end. Some of them now are kind of boring. I would rather watch his movies then his TV shows because House of Payne is pretty dull and the one with the couple from Why Did I get Married is a crazy show.

I dont care what anyONE says about Tyler Perry, he is a SELF MADE MILLIONAIRE! He has the clout, fans and means to make whatever he wants happen. Who do you know who OWNS their own MOVIE STUDIO, who isnt White?!?
If you dont like his movies, plays or TV shows dont watch them, its just that simple. His success proves they are millions black n white that love what he does!
