Oh No They Didnt! “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo”

If the name doesn’t say enough, 6-year-old Alana Thompson, b.k.a., Honey Boo Boo, is a mess. The breakout star of TLC’s pageant show “Toddlers & Tiaras” has been given her own spinoff reality spot, called “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo,” and ABC says the show will allow viewers to “redneckognize” the beauty queen and her Georgia family.

Alot of people already know about Honey Boo Boo for a couple of reasons. One, her “ghetto girl” antics have separated her from the rest of the competition as she’s frequently seen telling the cameras. “They must be crazy if they think they’re gonna beat me, Honey Boo Boo Child” and the “dolla dolla makes me holla.” Then there’s the “pageant crack” that seems to bring that sassiness out of Honey. On this past season of ‘Toddlers & Tiaras,” she was seen guzzling a substance from a green bottle that people speculated could have been any random combination of Mountain Dew, Red Bull, alcohol, medicine, or something else. Needless to say, there’s a lot that would make this spinoff “entertaining”/disturbing.

The first two episodes of the show aired last night, showing Honey and her family indulging in “Redneck Games.” Her sister “Pumpkin” bobbed for pig’s feet while the rest of the family participated in a “Mudpit Belly Flop.” I wish this was made up,  but according to Alana’s mom, June Shannon:

“You know that’s just us. For the most part that is us every day. We’re not all about pageants. We are a little redneckish, and we live in Georgia and that’s what people do in the country — get muddy and have fun with the family.”

Of course, there’s also pageant preparation which brings on the scrutiny from viewers, particularly when it comes to Honey wearing daisy dukes and cutoff tops—not to mention a face full of makeup.

I can’t quite make up my mind on this whole thing so I’ll just say you have to see for yourself. Check out the season preview and the first two episodes. Brace: it’s a lot to take in. What do you think about this spinoff?

People will do anything for a buck these days…even exploiting their children.

  • Lucille

Dang, they give realty shows to any low life these days. First the Kardashains now this poor innocent little smart mouthed snot nosed brat…her parents are to blame and will be to blame when she grows up to be the most hated child around.

Honey Boo kills me! I saw her on Toddlers and Tiaras and I knew she was star material. When she lost the competition, she said “Those judges just don’t know a good thing when it’s starin’ them in the face.” That line stole my heart!
Ride this train until the wheels fall off Alana!

This show makes The Beverly Hillbillies and Green Acres look like something from Masterpiece Theater, LOL. I would watch this show if they didn’t constantly fart.

Leave Honey Boo Boo and her family alone. I watched the first episode and it was funny. They are 100 country ghetto, that’s all I can say.

    • lucille

I like your respresentation “country ghetto.” Let’s add redneck hillbilly to that!

  • Kayo

This show is allowed to exist because White Americans get the benefit of not having one person represent the entire race.

  • Smacks_hoes

I think the shows cute….she funny little country girl.

  • Na Na

I used to live in Georgia and this is a pretty accurate representation so I see nothing wrong with the show. Its kinda cool to get into the lives of people who live soo differently from you……cuz you’ll neva catch me bobbing for pig feet! lol

  • Shunda Murray

I actually think this show is cute!

  • Kay

Think Black people love this show because they aren’t Black. I know if it was black people bobbing for pig feet and lookin stanky with baby daddies, I wouldn’t be able to handle the show

I watched the show last week & this week. She’s adorable, & she’s funny. They are a country family. There are millions of people like them. That’s normal for them. This is probably how the yt people felt about the Keyshia Cole show w/ her crazy, hood family. The only reason the media is making everything she do seem worse is b/c she’s outspoken & is a self-claimed red..neck. I’ve seen Toddlers & Tiaras & what honey boo boo wear & drink is mild compared to the others
