…you want to connect with someone you met three months ago at some networking thingamajig
(Note: You should never wait three months to connect with someone after you’ve met at a networking event. So let’s just assume that this person just joined Linkedin last week.)

[THEIR NAME]

We met in July at the best damn networking event ever and were supposed to get together for coffee afterwards to discuss [PROJECT]. I think we both went out of town on business but now would be the perfect time to reconnect. Are you available to meet up anytime soon? Sakita, great post! I’ve received many an invite using the generic language, and it’s terrible because it doesn’t let me know who the person is, how they found me and what they actually want – if anything.

I’ve shared this link to a few people I know and encouraged them to pass it along because there are several types of contacts that you can seek and this post shows the various ways that you could approach.

    Once again, great post!
