the stylist is WHACK!!!!! yes, you can comb coil hair tht length…ck out Nedjetti’s video… the flat twist was WHACK AND NOT SMOOTH AT ALL resulting in less defined curl pattern. I’m not even out of school yet and I do MUCH better than this “stylist”…which, by the way, is the reason i decided to go to school in the first place because of bootleg “natural” stylist like this one…***smH***

I actually feel bad for her (the model)

Rattail comb twist on long, tightly coiled hair is a recipe for tangles but the stylist handled it well! I wish she would show the finished style!!

    • Yay!

Righhhht! She finished the other model with the shorter 3 hair. I would have loved to see how she addressed the longer maybe coarser crown of this model’s head.

Beautiful! I honestly wish I knew how to style my own hair. I’ve been natural for almost 10 years. When my hair got too long, I cut it and started over again. Now it’s been 5 years and my hair is really long. Whenever I try to two strand twist it, the base gets so puffy :( I don’t have money to style it so I usually just put it in a bun. I know I could do some beautiful styles but I don’t. I’ve watched so many youtube videos and yet still don’t know how to two strand twist :(

Use the duckbill clicks at the root of the twist you are going to start and then begin to twist or braid at the root then switch the braid into a twist. Also, after you wash and section your, if you moisturize and twist each section into one big twist while you are doing this your hair will start to dry, now start from the first section that your moisturized and untwist you will see tht your twist pattern started to form so now break that section down into how ever many braids/twists you decide to do and move from section to section, if you can leave the twist in for a few days you should have ultra defined twist. Its hard to figure out what works best bcuz we all have different hair types. I have thick hair that too gets puffy. After going perm free over a year ago and slowly cutting the perm out every 3 months I am completely perm free. I was so surprised at how easy my hair is to manage thru the shampooing process and even when I decide to blow dry how super easy it is. I am happy that I chose to go this route. It has done my hair wonders. Just dont get caught up or expect results that other ppl have. Your nto them. Figure out what products works best for you adn if oyu really want to style more, trial and erros and patience is the only route to go. Unless you go to a natural or braiding shop. Happy styling!

Can someone please tell me how to care for my hair while it’s hot & humid outside? Some women have a bad hair day… I’m having a bad hair week…

cornrows, maybe some twists with extensions (depending on the length of your hair) to wear into a cute up do, braids or wrap it up in a colorful scarf for a sassy modern vintage look

Here’s my technique to beat the humidity. Wash and tension blow dry (i.e.section and stretch the hair with your hand while blow drying each section). Don’t blow dry completely… just to give some length. Next section the hair to begin two strand twist. Apply a dime sized amount of raw shea butter to each twist and seal with eco styler gel (1/2 a dime size). I have 4c hair. The shea butter ensures that my hair is pliable and soft. The eco styler gel keeps it from frizzing out. I’ve used just the shea butter alone and I get frizz. I’ve tried just the eco styler alone and my hair is dry and crisp. Use them both together, but ensure you use the gel in moderation. Hope this helps.

Or you can stretch your hair by banding method (if you want to keep the heat off and/or if you have the time to do this) otherwise the tension blow dry is a faster way to get the process done. Yes, the eco styler gives my hair a crisp feel. I love SheaMoisture and Miss Jessie products for styling. Outside of that I started to make my own flaxseed gel. If you can buy certain products (EVOO, Apple cider vinegar, etc) it will stretch your products if you make them yourself. It sounds like alot of work but once you get away from being a product junkie and use what works for you, you will see the benefit. to me the use of these everyday ingredients is cheaper and you can get more use than buying $10+ products. Dont get caught up in the hype and blogs and videos. Youll end up spending hundreds in a short time adn wont use half the products. Some ppl spend way to much time on their hair and it can be simplified by the products and methods you go about. It is not rocket science but does take effort and care on your part. Hey, if you went to the salon you spend at least $50 so why not take the time to buy these ingredients (for half the price) and you have what you need to make your products for months.

Try wetting it with water before braiding it or twisting it at night along with braiding it or twisting it with a base like hair milk or eco styler gel…than when you take it out the next day it’s more defined and harder to frizz from the humidity…

Glycerin free products… Glycerin and the humidity don’t mix, your hair will be a disaster…
