Idris, aka, Idrissa, has clearly made it. If the Golden Globe Award, his own show on BBC (“Luther”), guest appearances on some huge shows (“The Office,” “The Big C”) and the lead acting roles weren’t proof enough for you, he’s now been pegged as part of the next generation of Hollywood stars for Esquire, flashing his bright whites on one of three covers, alongside actor Taylor Kitsch (who was very crunk). At 39, it’s a little random that they call him the “Next Generation,” but he’s blowing up big time either way, and I’m sure he appreciates the cover love. He also had his share of hot and swaggerific photos solo in the spread, and we knew you would love them, so check ‘em out below…

Elba also had the opportunity to introduce himself to those who don’t know him like that (travesty!) through a short video. Per the usual, with the accent, jazzy dress and personality, he was delicious:

Nice to finally see this hunk-of-burning-man getting his just dues, and with Esquire of all people! I smell Oscars in the near future…

i would love it if her were to be a black James bond. He already has the looks and the accent. And I would love to be his bond girl..

Yeah, at his age, he’s a bit old for next generation. But I’m glad to see his star rising and Hollywood is obviously paying attention. I love his acting and music and it damn sure doesn’t hurt to look at him! *church fan*

Let me just say that Idris Elba may not really be young enough to be next gen, but i sure hope he’s around in Hollywood for a loooooong time. He can definitely make you sit up and pay attention.

i agree that if we’re only talking age, he’s not exactly next generation. but of the 6 men listed, exactly 1/2 are in their 30s (Idris, Aaron Paul-33, and Taylor Kitsch-31) and of the 20somethings, only 1 is actually young enough (Aaron Johnson,-22) to be considered next generation. rather than age, it might be more about these men being on the cusp of epic success

either way, i’m with you…i hope Idris is here to stay

Not even going to lie.. I didn’t read the article. As soon as I seen Idris I heard the heaven gates open up and sing, “Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah” Whew…. Is it getting hot in here or is it just me? I’m too young to be having hot flashes… but that man is fine.

Whew… especially when he was on stage with Jill Scott for the “rolling hills” performance. phew chile. Bless his parents for coming together.

if you did all that, i ain’t even gon tell you what happened when i read it. Lawd that man is fine!!
