Our First Lady, Michelle Obama, looked absolutely radiant in her J. Mendel Resort 2013 jacket and pleated skirt as she attended the Head of State and Government Reception at Buckingham Palace for the Olympics Opening Ceremony.

While controversy has sparked regarding the $6,800 price tag of our FLOTUS’ embroidered jacket, we say that her ensemble was more than appropriate for the occasion.  Keep in mind, being the First Lady of the United States comes with perks that include gifted designer items.

The chances that was sent to her rather than purchased are incredibly high. Everyone is vying to dress the First Lady. She is the most stylish figure out of the Nation’s Capital since Jackie O.

Umm, what’s the problem here? So ppl really think our First Lady should be walking around in Wal-Mart duds…?

  • misskaywill

Michelle has a 7k jacket while Willards wife has a horse, a few Cadi’s, and I’m sure several 7K+ jackets…..

Im pretty sure it was gifted but none the less she can afford it… but i guess not

  • StayTrueToThee

Whether she got it free or paid for it is her business. Mr. & Mrs. Obama are not poor!!!! Why should they deny themselves anything they can afford. I’m think that it is very hypocritical of people to expect those amongst us who can afford nicer things to do without them just because others can’t. I cannot afford the jacket she wore, but I’m working on it. You can bet that when the day comes, I will buy what I want and not give a second thought to what those who can’t afford it have to say. This is the reason why people work hard, sacrifice and get an education, so they can have what they want!!!!!

It looks tailor made, but I’m sure the designer gave it to her so that she could be seen wearing it at the ceremonies. Happens all the time with celebs.

  • Guest360

More than likely the designer gave it to her and even if she bought it, so what?!! She’s representing the US. She has to look like a million bucks or do we want her to look frumpy next to the royals? Some are trying way too hard to drum up something to hate about her lol

  • wveronica7

Even if she used her own money, its no one else’s business. Why are people all up in her pockets? As long as she isn’t embezzling money to fund a shopping spree I don’t see the problem.

I find it so ridiculous that everything our first lady wears is scrutinized. I can’t ever remember a time when the price of clothing that any other first lady has worn is front page news. The media needs to stop it and have several seats!

  • Na Na

Yeah that jacket was defintiely too pricey…….for the average working person. I’m sure Americans tax dollars did not go to the purchase of this jacket. In the realm of priciness, M certain that diplomats from other countries’ wardrobe were way more expensive. Should she have gon a-la-jcpenny?

  • NiceNasty

She get’s free stuff jus like celebs do, so people can see and want to get one. So it doesn’t matter.

    And???

  • TRUTH IS

While children starve else where….let the defenders come out in droves…smh

    • Simply_Shan

I guess people forgot she use to make 450,000 yearly when she was the president of a hospital in Chicago? So, she has plenty of money and if she chooses to splurge sometimes so be it! I love the jacket and she wore it well, go Michelle!

      • TRUTH IS

I hope she auctions it off and give the proceedings to someone who lost their job (with unemployment rate 8.3%) who cannot afford to pay their rent/mortgage or medical bill….it starts with them…they have power and money….they can make a difference in someone’s life

  • dontdoit

If its gifted to her where is the controversy? Besides, what ever she wears will probably have thrift shop prices compared to what Mrs. Romney would wear.

  • awet

Did the media price check all of the other First Lady’s wardrobe pieces as well??

  • Anonymous

First lady deserves it once in a while, especially looking at the fact that she usually keeps it at simple price range.
