Emily B.’s Not Happy With LHHATL Comparisons: “I’m Nothing Like Those Women”

Looking at the relationships as they play out on “Love & Hip-Hop Atlanta,” one could easily assume that the apple doesn’t fall too far from the New York tree, but Emily B. begs to differ. In a recent interview with Hello Beautiful, she was asked how she feels about people saying LHHATL is the same formula as LHHNY and that she and Mimi are essentially two hopeless peas in an unfaithful pod and here’s a bit of what she had to say:

Cast comparisons

You know I get a little upset when they compare characters because I’m nothing like any of those women. My story is not like any of those stories. I don’t see Fab in any of those men in that show at all. No offense to them, but nobody knows [how it is]. Y’all get to see the Stevie J’s and the Lil’ Scrappy’s and nobody really knows who Fab is or what he does or what he’s about. People just make assumptions and it really bothers me because he was never on camera for you to make that assumption so people really don’t know.

Comparing her to Mimi

I mean I spoke to Mimi and watching her I felt for her. I understand how it feels to love someone and feel that pain, but I’ve never been through anything that she’s been through. Fab only has one child with me so I don’t know what that feels like to have a man with many. I’ve never dealt with anything on that level in my life. Her story is a strong powerful story that I can’t even imagine going through.

Life after “Love & Hip-Hop”

Well right now I’m filming a spin-off to “Love & Hip Hop.” Me and Chrissy are filming a project. I won’t go into too much detail, but we have a project coming out in the Fall which is going to be a totally different. I mean, same producers but different feel–more of a family fun -loving show.

What she wants people to know about her

I think people have a misconception of what they saw on the show. You know that was over two years of filming and I’m totally different person because of it. And I think people think I’m laid-back. I’m not shy. I speak my mind. I’m boisterous! You can’t edit that.

Whether we’ll see that side her in her new show

Yeah I’m myself, totally. I’m not in that situation [anymore] so I have no reason to be that other girl that you guys saw [on Love & Hip Hop].

Situation is an interesting term. I wonder if she’s eferring to the show or to her relationship with Fabolous. I suppose we’ll have to tune in and see. What do you think about the “Love & Hip-Hop” cast comparisons? Are Emily and Mimi cut from the same cloth?

    Emily B is more delusional than I thought she was. If the only difference that she sees between her and Mimi is that Stevie has several children and Fab doesn’t, then she’s a lost cause. Emily is definitely cut from the same cloth. They both love men who don’t love them and have wasted a lot of years destroying any integrity they have left in themselves.

    Nahh, I don’t think that as many women would put up with what Mimi put up with. Stevie J was completely, unequivocally disrespectful to her to the point where Mimi was in a relationship with herself. He embarrassed her from show one. There are very few relationships I have seen on that level.
