Back In The Game: Tia’s Already Got a New Gig

Tia Mowry seemed quite confident in her decision to leave “The Game” earlier this year—much to the disappointment of the show’s fans—but it appears she had good reason. Just two-and-a-half months after making her announcement, she’s already got a new gig. According to Deadline, she’s in negotiations to star in a new show on Nickelodeon titled, “Instant Mom.”

Instant Mom, from Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment, was written by Warren Bell and Jessica Butler loosely based on their real life. It centers on a 25-year-old party girl (Mowry) who trades in cosmos for carpools when she marries an older man with kids. Bell, Butler and Kaplan executive produce the project, which intends to cast an all-black family.

This role will definitely be a switch from her character Melanie on BET, but maybe Tia already saw the writing on the wall with “The Game” or she didn’t like the direction her character was going in. It’s also possible she just wanted to challenge herself, or be a part of a show her son Cree can get into one day. The possible explanations are endless but the big thing is she’s still a working actress. Kudos to her for landing something so quickly. This working mother might have to put baby number two on hold for a little bit longer.

    BET limited her exposure to a more cultural diverse audience.

    I was starting not to like the show either. It was like if I seen it, I seen it.

    Good job. And yeah I am rooting for them. Its good see child actors mature and didn’t turn to drugs and alcohol.

    I like Tia and I love her reality show but she does not look like 25 yrs. Anyway, I won’t be watching this, it sounds boring but Congrats to her though.

    I already like this for her, I can see why she decided to give BET a chance but I knew from the get go it was not for her- I am a big fan of the Mowry twins and I wish them much success!!

    im happy for her!…BET is ghetto her and her sister is to good for that mess of a channel….they kept it classy all threw out there childhood they should be up there with the rest of them doing big things…BET is for actresses like Lauren London and Kayla Pratt….I hope Tamara lands a nice gig too after she gives birth…i love their show on Style network they keep it cute and classy not like those hot mess girls on vh1 basketball hos and love and hip hop trash….I support Black Women who handle there business right not trashy black women…and they destroyed Melanie’s character that baby shouldn’t have been Derwin’s and I wish she didnt marry him…

    That’s great. I appreciate when talent has integrity. I could not stand Melanie’s character and felt they destroyed a lot of the characters after going to BET. I can only imagine the rachet direction Melanie was heading for the next season.

        Not because someone has been acting for a while means they are good at it. Megan Good has been acting for a while and she is bad at it.

      I think it was mostly the writing…but b/c I’ve never seen either of them do anything too far out of the Sister Sister characters…I can’t be 100% sure.

      Tia is a good actress. The Melanie character was fine for the first two seasons. The writing is what changed the character. She has a resume of shows and movies that have been successful.
