Take Care! Drake Makes a Bold Statement About His Music!

I think most of us agree that you should believe in your own talent even if no one else does. However, Drake just might have taken his beliefs about his contribution to music to another level and can now only be summed up in one word: Delusional.  During an interview with The Jewish Chronicle, they quote him as saying about his music:

There were people who incorporated melody before me but I would deem myself the first person to successfully rap and sing.”

I’m sorry, what now? Did the name Lauryn Hill escape you during this interview?  Did the name Nate Dogg, who was basically the “king” of singing and rapping hooks slip your mind?  Perhaps he was overly excited about the concert he was about to give in London so the names of all the successful rappers who also sang in their songs conveniently disappeared from his mind. If that’s not the case and he really believes that he’s the first successful rapper to mix singing and rapping then he really might be living in a dream world.

Drake also goes on to say that his style of wearing his heart on his sleeve when he creates his songs is not a gimmick.  He says, “This is not a gimmick.  I just sort of exist and people embrace me.  I’m one of the few artists who gets to be himself everyday.”  Yes, I suppose that’s why your style is eerily familiar to someone named Kanye West. Yes, that’s why a lot of the music he’s put out lately had a bit of a depressing tone.

But Lauryn Hill, Queen Latifah and many others were way years ahead of you incorporating rapping and singing. Never forget it…and show some respect!

Even Blondie was singing and rapping (sorta) and that was back in the 80s!

I am like the biggest Bone Thugs fan ever & they were rapping & singing back in the 90s. And they were REAL dudes, not corny lames like Drake. Bizzy in particular had an amazing voice & real potential for a solo career if only he hadn’t got on the stuff. Age is no excuse for his Drake’s ignorance. He’s 25, an 80′s baby. I’m 24 & I definitely know better, he’s just a lame. I liked him when he first came out but he’s too full of himself now. I guess cuz he has money & skrippers geeking his head up.

Drake needs to sit his ole big-eared self down somewhere. He fails to realize that one of the main reasons he is “hot” is because of his record label/affiliation; that and his complexion. Have a seat please.

And another one bites the dust! This young man and I say young not because I’m 34 and older than he is but also because my children are more aware of artist from my generation who incorporated rap with singing. His maturity level bites. I couldn’t consciously listen to his music pass his second song. But now turning on the radio, I can’t tell one song from another. He has talent but refuses to use it, honestly singing though? If what he does is singing then my two year old can sang!

out the mouths of babes…he has no clue…why is it young folks have no clue of history on any level!!

    • Really?

Believe me, it has nothing to do with age. He’s just dumb.

  • IllyPhilly

He is such a damn poser and from this, he sounds like he was born in 2000. Hell, I can’t say that cuz my daughter knows who Lauryn Hill is and she’s 12!!

    Definitely delusional

  • TooReal

Why does Drake feel its O.K. to use the n word in his songs but doesn’t use the k[kyte] word.Oh yeah, his Jewish side would be up in arms and no more career obviously!!He and the rest of the clown sell-outs may act and talk like fools but they would never downgrade any other race except their own because that’s what they are paid [chump change in comparision] to do.Singer and rapper forgot idiot joker!

He’s another one who needs a new publicist. He keeps saying things that make wonder, “Why are you saying that?”.

He’s young and foolish, and doesn’t know any better. So don’t mind him. He’s still wet behind the ears.
