The People wanted to see it

You remember in the ‘90’s, many of the films that focused on violent concepts resulted in shootings during the screenings, (like Boyz in the Hood).  This was the case for New Jack City. But people debate whether it was the violence in the film or the fact that people couldn’t get in to see it. When the film was first released, only a few theaters were showing it. When people came to see the movie, they were turned away. These people, who were often teenagers, were left standing outside…frustrated. Just like today, people questioned whether Snipes’ portrayal was too real, resulting in real life violence.

      Uhhhhhh… I think the person was referring to the notion that the character Wesley hooked Chris up to play would end up being an enemy of his character and not a friend…. I think you read too much into that statement.

    i love new jack city, one of my favorite movies. wesley played nino to the core. wesley is a very good actor. the first time i really paid attention to him was in mo better blues.

      The light skinned actress is Vanessa L Williams. She had to add the L because this actress, Vanessa Williams already had the name with SAG.

    I think another secret is that Tracy Camilla Johns played Nino’s ummm “entertainment.” Tracy was from the movie… She’s Gotta Have It. This was the last movie she played in.

    No, what i find odd is that Chris W. and Wesley were close buddies …seeing as how both of them dated Halle Berry for a period …but in hindsight, I understand why!!
