Killing Two Birds With One Stone: 5 Conditioners That Clean & Restore Moisture

July 21st, 2012 - By Tiffany Washington

"cleansingcream"

The first time I used the KeraCare Cleansing Cream was actually an accident. I was visiting someone and of course forgot my shampoo at home. It was the only thing in the shower so I decided to give it a try. I am now obsessed. It left my hair feeling silky, clean and restored its moisture. This is also one of the few shampoos out there that incorporates amla, neem and shikakai. Avlon Industries, which has been around since 1984, created KeraCare but like many established companies they decided to branch out into natural territory. They recently launched the KeraCare Natural Textures line, which this product is a part of. The only downside of the cleansing cream is that it is difficult to find on the ground. I lucked out and discovered that some Ulta Stores do carry it, but it’s probably easier to purchase from the KeraCare online shop.

KeraCare Cleansing Cream – $13.10

I LOVE my Hair Rules!! Yes it is a bit $$, but hey I only have one head of hair!! I like having a separate “no suds” shampoo and the Ultra Quench conditioner rocks! Top it off with some Curly Whip and I’m gone!! Hair Rules for ‘sho!!

Wow, this is some good info…however, there are an awful lot of ads and pop-ups which is VERY frustrating for when you try to read an article.

I agree, conditioners will do the job as long as there are no cones, look out in the ingredients for any word ending in cone.

cowashing is not for everyone. I agree that you can use almost any regular conditioner but you have to try it out and see if your hair likes it or not. It’s a joke to my hair, makes it go nuts. My hair and scalp loves to be thoroughly clean (not squeaky).

I have a cleansing and moisturizing conditioner, Pro Naturals Moroccan Argan Oil Conditioner, though you need to find a conditioner that works best for you. This one does it for me!

I love cleansing conditioners. and notice a difference

Save your money — cleansing conditioners are a gimmick. Truth is, most regular conditioners contain cheating (deposit-lifting) agents already. You don’t have to use a cleansing conditioner, just regular ol’ conditioner will do. The key is to find one that works with your hair. I personally use Aussie Moist, or Tresemme Luxurious Moisture for my weekly cowash…and my hair has never been better. I still shampoo monthly with Shea Moisture African Black Soap Shampo, though.

Actually the As I Am Coconut Cowash did exactly what it said it would for my hair and thats saying a lot because most products lie. You should try it

I can’t get used to the idea of shampoos with conditioners in them. Tried ‘Creme of Nature’ conditioning shampoo about 20 years ago. My hair didn’t feel like it was clean, so I never used it again.

Expensive? Absolutely! But, If I find a product that beats everything else, then I’ll pay the price. I use PureOlogy Hydrate shampoo and conditioner. It’s $20 a bottle… My deep conditioner is Hair Mayo! :) Love it!

  • brokestudent

    damn these are expensive!

  • Chanda

I’ve been thinking about getting either the L’Oreal EverCreme one or As I Am Coconut Co-wash. I don’t know which one is better. Decisions decisions.

The As I Am is amazing

Read the label of L’Oreal EverCreme. It may not have SLS but there are other “strange words” which equal out to some form of sulfate!! It’s all in how they try to disguise it!!

I like Hair One. I want to try WEN, but I can’t see paying their prices.

  • Papillon

Stupid question but… could you mix a tiny bit of shampoo (or whatever cleanser you’d like) in with your conditioner and get similar results?

    • Tina P.

Technically, yes. You can also dilute your shampoo, to make it less concentrated.
