Janet Jackson and Family Beefing Over Paris’ Film Role

Any excitement Paris Jackson has about landing a role in the 2014 film “Lundon’s Bridge” and the “Three Keys,” has likely been dampened by family feuding that is reportedly brewing over her budding acting career. According to an insider account in Us Weekly, Janet Jackson is ‘furious” that Michael’s daughter is entering the industry at the young age of 14.

“She feels it goes against Michael’s wishes to keep his kids out of the the limelight until age 18,” the source said. ”Janet thinks Paris should enjoy being a kid and possibly go to college.”

As a childhood star and member of a family where every child was robbed of their childhood by the entertainment world, it’s not hard to understand why Janet would be concerned. She reportedly told her teen niece “You’re only a child once,” and any adult knows once those years are gone you can’t get them back.

Naturally Paris is “hoping for more roles, and consequently the subject of her career has become “a huge dispute!” the source added.

One thing that’s for sure is Paris will always have the Jackson name to get her through the door so there’s no reason for her to rush into anything. She’s also only four years away from being a legal adult. She might want to enjoy the little bit of time she has left as a child before it’s gone.

Do you think Janet’s right for wanting Paris to wait to start her acting career?

Listen Auntie Janet, if that child wants to ruin her life…let her. Some people have to learn through making their own mistakes. & if she can’t be perspective enough to see and analyze what fame has done to her family then she’s going to have to learn through first hand experience.

I definitely agree. Paris should be a regular teen and probably go to college. Then maybe do something in entertainment. But she seems to be rebellious and may not listen to reason.

Instead of riding the coattails of her daddy’s fame, she needs to stay a child as long as she can instead of rushing to do the one thing that he never wanted his children to experience before they were adults. . .

I just don’t think Janet has a real argument…if she had some solid reasons I’d totally back her. But b/c she was a child actor (far younger than 14 when she played Penny) who became a teen and adult actor–she sounds a bit hypocritical by saying Paris needs to be a kid. None of her siblings chose childhood over career so it doesn’t seem so far-fetched that their children would want careers as well. And while Michael may have desired something…who is to say that he would not have changed his mind? 14 IMO is old enough to make this kind of move-many kids her age would have no desire to be away from their peers during these years…but do these children have peers? They were kept very sheltered from society. Which could lead to why you shouldn’t shelter your kids…but that’s a whole other topic.

    • Just saying!!

Hypocritical!? If anything Janet is trying to prevent Paris from going through what she went through. Just about all of the Jackson’s had their childhood stolen from them because that’s all they knew and at the time probably thought it was normal or not a big deal. …and since when is 14 grown? She can stick it out 4 more years. Until then, she has more time to practice and hone her craft so she can really come out with a BANG– despite her last name!

Janet is no one’s mother. Dang she doesn’t even have any kids or had a childhood as we all know. She needs to remember all the crazy stuff she, michael and her family did and stop judging. Paris is not Janet!!!!!!!! Let the girl have a career if that’s what she wants. Chill Ms. Jackson. Go Paris. btw Paris appears to be just sane as Janet. lol

I agree with Janet whole heartedly…. Even though you might know at an early age where your passion lies; some things that come with it needs to be handled by a more mature individual Michael was the prime example of someone whom never got to enjoy a normal childhood and defiantly didn’t want his kids to not enjoy theirs; for Janet to try and follow his wishes not let anyone sway her in another direction is very honorable….and YES!!! Once those childhood years are gone there gone!!! Allow her to be a child maybe take acting classes or get a mentor until she reaches the legal age to make her own decisions!!!

    PARIS******
WHAT WOULD YOU BE DOING IF MICHAEL WAS ALIVE IN FLESH???? I FEEL YOU SHOULD RESPECT YOUR FATHER’S WAY******I KNOW THAT IT IS IN THE BLOOD*** BUT WAIT A WHILE****JANET IS RIGHT**** YOU KNOW HOW MICHAEL MISSED HIS CHILDHOOD***

when a kid wants to be something badly let them do it/support them, you don’t want to be that person that discouraged their dreams….the Jackson’s as kids were sort of forced/beat into being entertainers, Paris really wants to act…and if she feels like she’s getting too busy, overwhelmed or misses her friends she can just do those 2 roles and take a hiatus and live a normal life and go to school….like keisha knight pulliam, tia and tamera, raven symone, winnie from wonder years, blossum and go back to acting if she wants to

I think Janet may be jumping the gun and being a bit overprotective with reason of course..we all know the price her fam paid for fame. Not all child stars are stripped of childhood and normalcy..it’s all about the parent/guardian not losing sight of those things and setting boundaries in the process. Dakota Fanning is a prime example..she has been one of my favorite child actors to juggle a very successful career, while taking a break to enjoy childhood..making the cheer squad in high school, prom etc. and now enrolled in college.

I love Janet and I think she is concerned as any loving auntie would be. But I think that our great entertainers know what they want to be at an early age and they should let her if that what she wants to do. Beyonce said she knew what she wanted to do at the age of 5. The majority of us arent that lucky so they shouldn;t hold her back
