Six Pack or Beer Belly? What Your Body Preference In Men Says About You

When asked what your “type” is, you probably start listing off physical characteristics: surfer type, preppy, muscular, hipster, put together etc. And, typically, your inquisitor will then say, “But that doesn’t tell me anything about what kind of personality you like!” Okay, so points to them for noticing you’re a bit superficial in your answer. However, if they looked beneath the surface, they’d find that you are telling them what sort of personality you like, all by telling them the type of appearance you like. Think about it: you dress, do your hair, stick to a certain diet and wear your makeup a certain way to tell the world who you are. You try every day to send a message to the world whether that’s, “I am confident” or “I feel like crap today” or “I am strong.” Your appearance is more honest and more telling than you may realize. Same goes for men and when you see a certain type of body or a certain style, you’re seeing a personality, or at least an essence of it.

This article is truly upsetting and offensive. To say a women is insecure because she prefers a larger man is ridiculous. It has to be the most close-minded generalization I have ever heard. I’m officially DONE with Madame Noire.

  • Megan

I want a cowboy hat boy!
I agree that this isn’t scientific or anything- it’s just fun! :)

  • NikkitaMichelle

The same way all my skinny guy friends love big women, is the same way some women like teddy bears.

  • Treacle234

A beer belly is toxic, no man should aspire for a huge belly. Come on, your abdominals does not need to be rock hard but it should not be like Homer Simpson’s own either.

  • Kayo

I prefer a man who is fit simply because I enjoy sports and physical activities.

  • Jolene

This list is BS. What about personalities matching?

  • 20Pearls

Wrong!!! So called “overweight” men are incredibly sweet, down to earth affectionate and can cook like nobody’s business. They are empathetic, super considerate, they help out around the house and the list goes on…Hey maybe that’s just MY man! I wouldn’t trade him for the WORLD and trust, I do not have insecurity or trust issues!!! Get it together Madame Noire!

  • Cocoa

What about “Normal” sized men who also hit the gym? That sounds perfect to me!

  • Ms. Blue

Well, I tend to like men who have handsome and/or pretty faces. But I have never been into particular about body type……I take that back, no short dudes. So if I like a pretty faced chubby dude or beer belly dude, what does that mean Madam Noire?

  • laila

Lmbo…But I fell for strong protective arms I.fell asleep in that could lift me off the ground…

  • Kisses

In other words, the less physically fit he is, the more free time he has for a woman….BUT we don’t want the fat dudes because that signals a lack of security….BUT we don’t want the dude who takes care of himself because that ALSO signals a lack of security. So the best bet is the naturally scrawny dude in the middle who can look ripped off 10 situps and ruins our diet because he always wants ice cream in the freezer. OK. I’m there now. O_o

I have a thing for chubby guys than skinny and muscular guys. I like chubby men because most of them I met have more heart, jolly and they love to have fun. I dated muscular men but they seem more self-centered and caring about their looks all the time. Skinny guys are a turn off to me.

  • realadulttalk

And for those of us with no body preference?? I really never dated based on aesthetics.

  • KJ23

What is this information based off of? I don’t want to seem dense, but a lot of this came off as nonsense to me. I know a lot of short guys who have a lot a friends and are popular. I know buff guys that are highly intellectual but goes to the gym to relax after spending hours either studying or working to blow off steam, and I know some “normal sized” men who have never been “patient” and didn’t “think things through” when they beat their girls. Maybe I missed something.

  • IllyPhilly

Nope, none of these match the type of guy I like at all. I double checked.

  • Ally

I was agreeing with this until I saw the overweight theory. Then it went downhill from there….

    • Realestmulatto

      I totally agree.

      • Shi

I thought it was just me, but yeah I gave the “stank face” at that one too.
