Look Who’s Starring In President Obama’s New Campaign Video

July 16th, 2012 - By Brande Victorian

We know the Carter’s and the Obama’s are tight like that so it only makes sense Bey would lend her star power to help keep the President in the office she campaigned to get him in to begin with. The Obama camp recently released a new campaign video to boost votes this re-election year and it stars none other than Queen Bee herself reading the letter she wrote to Michelle Obama on her blog a little while back.

Though a lot of you clowned Beyonce’s simplistic thank you—and questioned her motives—the folks at the White House thought it was campaign worthy and chose to feature Bey in a video all by herself reflecting on how the First Lady inspires, empowers, and encourages her to live a healthy lifestyle, support the veterans, and be a role model that Blue Ivy and other little girls can look up to. You can’t really argue with that.

Check out the new re-election video here. What do you think?

I don’t think that’s such a great campaign move. If republicans are smart, they’ll use it against the prez. This love affair makes the prez and first lady look silly and infantile. Nuzzling up too close to celebs has always been a tricky thing for democrats. Celebs are well-known but that’s not to be confused with well-respected. Booty shakers and rappers aren’t the kind of folks average americans look up to no matter how much $$$ they have.

I’m starting to side-eye the first lady a bit. It just looks like they’re elevating style over substance. Not a good look if you want to run the country.

Beautifully put! I’m not sure who the Obama campaign is targeting with this ad. The average Beyonce fan is either a teenager who is not old enough to vote, or a grown woman with arrested development. And God knows those in the latter group cares nothing about politics/voting.

I think it’s a double-edged sword. It could boost popularity among younger people (celeb endorsements are better for that IMO) but it does nothing for the older crowd and possibly not for non-minorities. I do hope it works on in his best interest…but politics is tricky and what might appeal to 80% might not appeal to the 20% whose votes you actually need.

I hope people have registered to vote and are supporting voter registration projects. The Republicans are fighting hard to turn back the clock on voter rights. It is good to see Beyonce suporting the President and so complimentary about Michelle, our children need to see more of this.

That’s great. Celebs and other influential people need to push hard for voters in this election.

I think people don’t like the carter/obama friendship because of the past that jayz has but we should really look beyond that. both families were able to pull themselves up from the bottom to the highest position in their fields. Beyonce used her voice and dancing, Sean his rap and business skills and Barack his intellect. we may not agree with every decision that they make our know what happens behind closed doors but i do feel like they’re an inspiration for todays youth.

I’m sorry but are you somehow equating Jay-Z to Barack Obama? The latter reached the pinnacle of success through education and hard work; while the former makes a living by glorifying gun violence, drug peddling, calling women b^&*%es and h&*s, and black men n!&&@z . They are on a different echelon so your comparison is quite laughable.

because that’s all he knows what else is suppose to say? and laugh all u want because he is still a rags to riches story that worked hard for his success, can you say the same for yourself while you’re laughing? Anyway i hope ur doing ur best to help uplift the youth instead of just commenting on message boards.

        • Just saying!!

I understand what u r saying but just because it’s all he knows doesn’t make it right. There’s a difference between doing what people expect you to do and transforming the game and teaching people something new. I don’t doubt that they are hard workers, but as someone who has studied both politics and music and has been in both worlds, I’ve discovered that being a “hard worker” in the music industry and being a hard worker in politics is very, very different. It just entails different things. Not saying one is better than other…but it isn’t quite right to equate the two. The average person who is trying to start a business or create social change has to know a lot more than a famous celebrity who can pay people to think for him….
