Daddy Daughter Moments: Willow Napping on Her Daddy’s Chest

July 16th, 2012 - By Veronica Wells

Willow’s constant experimentation with her hair has caused some to believe that this 11 year old girl is growing up too fast. But this image of her all curled up on her dad’s chest proves that she’s still just a little girl. Jada recently posted this picture of the daddy-daughter duo on her Facebook page with the following caption.

Being a fatherless daughter these are the moments I cherish.

Love.

This already adorable photo along with Jada’s profound caption make this image very powerful.

We love it!

Cute, after all she is still a child.

Beautiful photo. Is she a little on the extreme side, yes. But so was her mother and she seems to have turned out ok. Give her some room to grow and let’s see what happens. Besides she’s their daughter not ours.

:::side eye::: at all the people thinking she is too grown. She doesn’t sing inappropriate songs or dress provocatively. She experiments with her hair (as all 11 year olds would if given the chance) and has been seen posing with an (obviously fake! It looked like she was just holding a bead in her mouth.) tongue ring. Does she seem a little wise beyond her years… yes. But she has a lifestyle that lends to that kind of exposure and I’m assuming parents who instill some kind of wisdom.Hardly a cause for alarm.

Such a beautiful photo. We always talk about were are the good black fathers, well give praise to one that is doing a good job while the world scrutinize him and his wife for how they raise their kids in the lime light. I think she is a beautiful and creative young lady that is expressing herself like most kids her age.

Just because the girl is intelligent, insightful, well spoken and has an opinion does not mean she’s too grown. It means she’s being raised right.

  • realadulttalk

I say it is not fair to condemn the child b/c her parents are lacking. I have an 11 year old–Willow does seem too grown. But that’s not HER fault…she is still being raised (or should be-that’s debatable) so you must blame those in charge of her well-being.

    • fatherless daughter also

oh be quiet, just enjoy the beautiful bond between a father and his daughter

      • realadulttalk

I don’t need to enjoy this…that is not my child and he is not my husband.

I agree with you. It’s okay for her to be all those things ppl said (wise, insightful, etc) BUT, she is STILL a child and should stay in that frame. I would love for my child to be outgoing and intelligent as well, but some things (like the hair and fake tongue ring) are a little too much for me. STILL this picture is soooo TUUUUTE!!!!! I had these moments with my daddy R.I.P

Thank you for having a modicum of sense to understand what I said. I see many did not.

what’s the big deal about the child’s hair? to me, she’s just trying to find her personal style and become comfortable in her own skin. I think experimenting with her hair is a good way of expressing herself, showing her creativity. as long as her parents are cool with it then to me it’s ok.
maybe she doesn’t want to look like the rest of the kids her age in terms of hair styling/personal style.
is it because she’s doing all this at 11-12 instead of her teenage years that some or most have a problem with? ( coloring, cutting, experimenting with hair) that makes you feel like its not age appropiate? is how a child wears their hair a sign of fast behavior? bad conduct? a sign of not being disciplined? Is this a sign of destructive behavior? who is being harmed, the child? community? is it shaming her parents name?
i’m not trying to attack you. I just want to understand this point of view of how a child’s hairstyle = ” i’m trying to be grown before my time” signals.

I think you meant to reply to the person above me.

            • &

yes I did, hopefully they reply so I can understand this argument about the hair = grown adult behaviors.

  • RandomTandem

  • Trisha_B

Awwwwwwww! Such a sweet photo. People really need to leave Willow alone. it hurts to know a lot of the mean things said about this little girl are coming from grown adults smh
