You Know You Wrong For That! 6 Lies We Tell Our Girlfriends

July 13th, 2012 - By Veronica Wells

No, I can’t tell you’ve gained weight.

No one has to tell you that weight is a sensitive issue when it comes to women. But shoot, life happens and sometimes the extra pounds are inevitable consequences. The thing about weight is, no one has to inform you that you’re packing on the pounds. You’re usually the first to know. The fact that you had to ask your girl whether or not she’s noticed your weight gain is merely a feeble attempt to protect your ego. You know you need to hit the gym. Your friend telling you she hasn’t noticed doesn’t mean you don’t need to address the issue.

I don’t lie and tell my friends, “It’s not your fault.” Uh.. No. People can’t improve something unless they know what the problem is. One of my friends had trust issues and could never give into a relationship and that showed. A man didn’t feel valued, didn’t see himself as being worth her time therefore he always found someone else who did. So… I told her about herself. Gave her the book, “The Conversation” by Hill Harper and we discussed situations to make sure she slowly develops trust in a relationship. Some of these lies are the reason women grow up thinking they are not the problem but they are. Whether it is the type of men they attract or how they allow their independence to become a defense mechanism which blocks trust, security and honesty… either way… people need to learn and the friends need to point it out.

The one I don’t tell is the one about him being the fool if she messed up in the relationship. I won’t beat her up about it but I tell my friends it takes two people to cause the demise of a relationship and now is the time to look in the mirror so you don’t take the same behavior into the next one.

To say someone is erudite is to say the person is learned. The Latin root of the word means literally ‘out of rudeness,’ because rude people are usually unlearned. There was no reason for such a caustic remark as you made. Fac ut vivas. That’s Latin for ‘get a life.’

LOVED THE ARTICLE! The crazy thing is, when you’re saying those lies, or your friend is saying it to you, you all know you’re lying, but you’ll let it slide for a good friend because you know they’re just trying to spare your feelings and they don’t mean any harm.
