Usher Changes His Tune, Wants To Settle Custody Battle With Tameka

It looks like the tragic accident involving Tameka Raymond’s son may ease strife in another area of her life. Usher apparently wants to settle the nasty custody battle that has been going on between him and his ex-wife for months now. After experiencing the tragedy involving Tameka’s son Kile who was left brain dead after a ski accident, the singer wants to make amends and end the fighting between them.

According to TMZ:

Sources connected with the couple tell TMZ … Usher spoke with Tameka over the weekend and suggested that they settle up, but he did not significantly change his offer — 50/50 custody with a very slight increase in child support.  Tameka said no way.

But apparently Usher softened after the conversation, because our sources say he met with his lawyers earlier this week and instructed them to craft a new proposal that would give Tameka “a majority” of custody, though the sources did not specify the exact breakdown.  We’re told Usher is also raising his child support offer “significantly.”

Usher’s obvious motivation is the suffering Tameka is going through. According to the sources he’s very sympathetic to her pain and realizes now is not the time to continue a fight over her other children.

The offer hasn’t been presented to Tameka yet, but TMZ’s contacts say she is open to a “reasonable settlement.” Hopefully this will at least give her one less thing to worry about although it’s unfortunate it took this accident to come to this point.

    i’ve been saying that she should let Usher have 50/50 custody. I think he has been being fair from jump and she just wants to get a one up on him in both the power dynamic between them and in money. I will continue praying for the family, but i still think she’s taking this too far.

    i think shes being money hungry in some ways buti commend him on trying if its real but i doubt it id go bananas if someone tried to talk about custody as my other child lays lifeless

    I really home this isn’t true. She was already being greedy and unreasonable as it is. To not to want to stop the madness while facing a tragedy with one child…well…her character is worse than I thought. Its never enought money or control with some of these chics. SMDH! I am a woman and I have seen women like her use and abuse the fact that they have children with someone who has money…as a way to come up financially and it pisses me off! Get a damn job!

    I would think after her tragedy she would hopefully “soften up” in her dealings with Usher…. I really hope she doesn’t use this moment of weakness in his life to make things worse.

    Very unfortunate, though I had a feeling it would help to put a lot of that madness in perspective. I wouldn’t wish that on anyone, but sometimes it takes a tragedy to help people figure out what’s truly important.

    This sounds made up (not by you Brande). Or maybe its just me. I would find it difficult to even take the time out to discuss anything like this with my son in the state he is in. They spoke over the weekend? The same weekend the poor baby had his accident? *shakin head* Nah, I refuse to believe that. I thought they’d just put the issue on hold while they handled more important matters. Sounds like TMZ or somebody just needed a story to me.

      She was not “broke” prior to Usher. Yes, she was a stylist etc., but her son Kyle’s father is a tv exec. She follows money men.

    This is just insane. Why fight over kids that are not even yours! God blessed them with 2 wonderful children and they are not promised to be here forever. 50/50 is reasonable with child support. She acts like he is only offering her $3,000 a month per kid – that would be a blessing for me but im sure a no go for her. Just because you are married to someone who had millions before you came into the picture doesnt mean you should get $50k a month in CS… I still pray that they see that the fighting is not worth it and that God will heal their hearts.

        I think DIVVVaa means that children actually belong to God, and he has a say in what happens to them.
