DON’T SWEAT IT! Hairstyles That Won’t Sweat Out at the Gym

"sidebraid"

Braids

Braids are always a safe bet when it comes to working out. You can wear them in a multitude of ways that’ll endure a tough exercise routine. If you’re in a rush, a side braid is fast and will remain in place until the last sit-up and still be able to take you to your next outing in a cinch. Jazz it up a bit by giving yourself a deep side part and braiding the front from one side to the other.

If you have a bit more time, a goddess braid will keep hair out of your way while you’re working up a sweat and also look cute if you’re meeting friends after your workout.

A bonus? If you take them down at the end of your session, you’ll have plenty of pretty nice summer waves – or what many refer to as a braidout.

DMVchick you said it all.lol…I just came from the gym. who writes this mess.

I’d rather worry about getting my body in shape than whipping up my hair in shape. My hair isn’t exactly nice after I work out no matter how nice I put it up. Fail on this article.

A side pony, really?! I workout 5 days a week and I put my dreads in an updo. At the gym I see on lady wear a shower cap during her workout and all I have to say is as long she’s getting her workout on……

I feel like who ever wrote this doesn’t quite know what they are talking about. I exercise 5 days a week and was excited to see an article that I thought was going to help me out. The problem isn’t the hairstyle but what perspiration/exertion actually does to the condition of the hair. I promise you if i put my hair in a cute bun, run 2 or 3 miles, it is not going to look the same afterwards.

I have already decided that as a black woman, my exercise habits drain on my hair. I can’t keep weaves in, relaxers sweat out…it is a trade off.

Of course it’s a trade-off. But choosing your hair over your health seems crazy to me. But I’ve been shaving my head for 18 years so what do I know?

I’ve heard a sista say that she doesn’t workout because she didn’t want sweat to ruin her hair, but I thought it was just her. I refused to believe a significant number of women would risk their health and quality of life over their hair!

Lol you would be surprised. My gfs tell me that all the time.

Before I went natural 5 years ago, I even worked out while having relaxed hair, better to be healthy than be unhealthy.

Nothing like a smoking hot and healthy body to take attention away from your hair!

    • Nope

Guys will notice that gut on a woman way more than that hairstyle it took a woman 8 hours to get done. I’ve actually never heard a man say “damn, did you see how fly her hair was!!”.
