WEEKEND WRAP-UP! Is Ray Allen A Traitor? Lil Scrappy Said What?! + MORE!

Hey loves! There’s lots going on this weekend and I’m trying to keep my “ear to the street” so you all can stay informed. Let’s check in on our the celebs, shall we?

Ray Allen Taking his Talents To South Beach

Well, it’s the end of the Big Three in Boston.  Ray Allen’s agent has confirmed what people like Lebron James and other Heat personnel have been tweeting since Friday: Ray will join the Miami Heat next season.  According to sources, Allen may not have felt he was getting treated with the same level of respect he’d been getting in the past from the Celtics. HE apparently also has a very strained relationship with Celtics’ guard Rajon Rondo so he chose to make his choice and leave Boston as a free agent and go to Miami…for less money.  I’m sure he’s hoping for a championship and if they get one, all the boos and ill comments he will no doubt receive from Boston fans will have been well worth it.

Morgan Freeman said WHAT??

Let’s remember everyone has the right to their opinion, okay? With that said, Morgan Freeman spoke to NPR recently and one of the things he felt compelled to discuss was politics, specifically President Obama.  Freeman does not believe that Barack Obama should be called the country’s first black president. He says:

“First thing that always pops into my head regarding our president is that all of the people who are setting up this barrier for him … they just conveniently forget that Barack had a mama, and she was white — very white American, Kansas, middle of America,” Freeman said. “There was no argument about who he is or what he is. America’s first black president hasn’t arisen yet. He’s not America’s first black president — he’s America’s first mixed-race president.”

I know, I know.  But he was also quick to say that the Republicans are making it very hard for him to do his job because they want to see him only serve one term and do anything to make it look like he’s ineffective. I don’t know, Mr. Freeman, could some be acting like that because they see him as…our first black president?

A ‘Polite’ Reception for D’Angelo at EMF

It was the moment the entire crowd of mostly women had been waiting for.  Yesterday was day two of the Essence Music Festival and D’Angelo was finally set to appear.  According to The New York Times, D’Angelo was a bit confusing for the crowd.  He played music as though he were playing just for the love of music and not necessarily for the fans.  Much like the response he received from the BET Awards performance, people weren’t feeling “jam session” D’Angelo; no, they wanted D’Angelo from theBrown Sugar album and that doesn’t seem to be where he is anymore.  The crowd screamed when he did “Untitled” but were very disappointed that he didn’t perform “Brown Sugar.”  When it was all said and done, the performance was just “okay” for the crowd and they were on to the next artist.  I’ve got to say: as fans, you can’t have it both ways. People have been screaming for D to come back and now that he has – and sounds good – it doesn’t seem to be good enough.  Let that man sing!

Lil Scrappy: When ‘Keeping It Real” Goes Wrong

Someone take the mic from Lil Scrappy, please.  The “Love & Hip-Hop: ATL” star was on “TMZ Live” earlier this week to likely to promote the show; but the conversation apparently turned to Frank Ocean and his “coming out story.”  Scrappy showed his support by saying, “I’m glad that he came out … so all the real women that love to mess with real men, straight men, we can keep the AIDS situation down, you feel me?”  He continued on with “Homosexuality is a doorway to AIDS, scientifically.”  There’s so much wrong with the statement – even if what he said wasn’t how he meant to say it – that it is hard to know where to start. First, are you not a real man if you aren’t a straight man?  Second, are straight men going to really keep the AIDS epidemic down?  I could go on and on but…I won’t.

Serena Williams Takes Another One

That’s right, Serena Williams won the 2012 Wimbledon Saturday by beating Agnieszka Radwanska 2 sets to 1 in what was a very hard fought match. Serena coasted through the first set but came apart to lose the second and pulled it together to when the final third set.  This makes Serena’s fifth Wimbledon title and gives her lots of confidence going into the U.S. Open.  Is there anyone still questioning whether or not she is one of – if not, the – greatest female tennis players EVER? Let’s let go because the answer is YES SHE IS.

Gabrielle Union Makes Dwyane Wade’s Eyes ‘Sparkle’

When Oprah sat down with the Miami Heat’s version of the Big Three after their championship win, she made sure to ask about the loves in their lives.  When speaking to Dwyane Wade about his relationship with Gabrielle Union, he said she makes his eyes sparkle, especially when he sees her with his children:

“The biggest time she makes my eyes sparkle is when Zaire comes home and homework is a little hard that day, stressing, and she go to the table with him, and she sits down until he gets it, he understands it,” Wade said. “And at that time my heart is smiling a little bigger that day because I know her love is deeper than just me.”

He says they grow closer everyday as a family unit and are always improving which he thinks are great steps.  No, he didn’t mention a ring in the clip and no, I don’t know if he includes the boys’ mother Siovaughn as part of the family unit. I’m just here to tell you what he said.

Introducing: Jennah Bell

Get into her. I don’t know that I’ve let you down yet with my musical selections and I don’t intend to start by recommending Jennah Bell.  If you watched the BET Awards last weekend, you’ll remember that she was one of the “Music Matters” artists and has a soulful/funky/folk style of music.  She released The Early Bird EP a few months ago and she’s received a warm reception thus far.  I heard her name just a couple of months ago and was very pleased by not only her voice but her lyrics as well (yes, she writes).  So far, most of her songs are about love – I urge you to check out “Follow The White Rabbit.”  Interesting tidbit about Jennah? Her dad is Ronald Bell of Kool & the Gang!  I’m telling you to make sure you give the music a chance! Check out her website and hear new music!

    YAAAAAAAAASSSSSSS to Jennah Bell 🙂

Serena: Congratulations! My favorite female athlete.

Ray Allen: That was dumb. Your injury prone why would you take a pay cut? God forbid you blow out a knee that could potentially be career ending.

Morgan: He’s black in my eyes
Scrappy: Wrong choice of words but I get it.

D-Wade: Although I disapprove of “home wrecking” I still enjoy black love.

D Angelo: Your sexiness has faded but your music still gets me grooving.

    • ACE

Ray Allen can take a paycut he doesn’t have many years left anyway so you may as well get some rings on your way out.

D-Wade- I don’t believe in home wreckers. A woman can only do what a man allows her to.

      • bluekissess

        Rings aren’t guaranteed.
Im really not into the technicalities of whom allows what. Like I stated I’m not a fan of home wreckers. She decided to walk into a house while it was being occupied. I’m talking about her not him. I.also stated that I love black love.

The thing about the HIV virus being the highest among black women is not new information and yet some of them continue to have sex with every Tom,D!ck,and Harry because they look good on the outside but some of them are being eaten alive on the inside by this hideous disease or other STD’s thinking it want happen to them and it is happening.Men are continuing in having oral sex with these infected women and are struck with head and neck and mouth cancers because of the human papaloma virus that many women have and don’t know it.So this disease will get worse not better there is no cure death is enevtiable so to black men and women and the rest of the world stop committing sin against your own bodies by engaging in premartial sex and for those who are married stop committing adultery period!!!!! and this subject would never even have a platform.

There is no one in this world that does not want too be loved and appreciated and if Ray Allen didn’t get that form the Celtics then he had every right to go where love and appreciation is shown which happens too be the Heat so I don’t feel that he is a traitor he simply wants the best for him and his family even if it did mean making less money for money in itself can not buy or bring one total happiness so I wish him nothing but the best.

    • wveronica7

I am from Miami and we welcome him with OPEN arms. He will be appreciated here, lol.

  • Jay

Frank Ocean has more fans after coming out then Lil scrappy did during his fail of a rap career so Lil scrappy needs to take a seat.

    • bluekissess

Wasn’t he sitting during the interview? Or did you mean sit down and shut up? If he stayed quite then it would’ve been an interview.

      • Jay

I assume you thought that response was clever?

        • bluekissess

I’m ecstatic that you thought it was clever. I wasn’t trying to be “clever.” That “have a seat” phrase sounds redundant I’m still trying to figure out the meaning to that overly used phrase.

As to Morgan Freeman what he said is correct. Our president Brarack Obabma is a mixed race man. You have to acknowledge that his mother is white. So that makes him mixed. Personally if I was both races I would be offended if a person tried to exclude one of my races. He’s just as much his fathers child as his mother. True he looks more black then white. If I passed him on the street I wouldnt imagine him to be mixed right off. But the truth is the truth.

    • bluekissess

The president doesn’t deny his Caucasian side. Never have. I think it depends on the person. Mariah Carey is also mixed but she announced that she’s black.

It is what it is I guess. I’m sure I’m mixed with a plethora of things but I see black when I look in the mirror

Although the delivery of scrappy’s comment could have been better what he said makes sense. These men need to stop the DL behavior. According to the CDC men having sex with men or MSMs as the CDC term it account for 61% of new HIV infections. They are another reason why black women have one of the highest infection rates of any other demographic in the country. If you want to be gay that is fine, but don’t lie to a woman and place her health at risk!!

    • bluekissess

True. But women need to know there status as well.

  • Karma

This comment from Morgan Freeman, the guy who was involved with his step grandaughter??? He is one to say anything.

  • Real Real

Love ya Ray,sorry to see you go,love the Celtics, respect your decision and wish you Love and Happiness!!!

  • commonsense

@de1fd0d1663549ca423199ac36b4543c:disqus I agree with you. It wasn’t meant to come out as a derogatory remark. He needs public speaking courses.

  • Ms lady

What scrappy said was he glad that he isn’t on the dl bc black women have the high HIV rate. Also what I got was real men as being confident in your sexuality and not pretending.

  • UmOk

    Dear Morgan Freeman,

Anyone sleeping with their grandchild should sthu.

    Everybody. 🙂
